Pulsazur™ PRODUCT
• Pulsazur™ is a new process that uses adsorption overpowdered activated carbon (PAC) in a sludge blanket reactor.
• Pulsazur™ is used to treat water that contains a high level ofdissolved matter after suspended solids have been reduced.
• Pulsazur™ is used to obtain water of a constant quality from avariable raw water throughput and quality with a minimumflow >50% of nominal flow.

USING Pulsazur™
• Pulsazur™ is a structure that forms part of a conventional or membrane potable water treatment line
• Pulsazur™ is used during the polishing treatment stage for adsorption of:– Micro-pollutants (pesticides, molecules responsible for taste and
odors)– Dissolved organic matter (TOC >10 mg/L)
• Pulsazur™ is positioned downstream from pre-clarification and upstream from the sand filter:– For optimum adsorption, it is advisable to reduce suspended solids – Filtration through sand constitutes a safety barrier as it screens out
solid particles (PAC leaking out with the coagulant)

•The quality of the treated water depends on the resistance of the PAC bed and on the PAC selected
– PAC bed resistance demands: • A maximum sedimentation rate of 4m/hour• A 2.60 m deep PAC bed
– The PAC selected is the NORIT SA Super
FEATURES SPECIFIC TO Pulsazur™
Pulsazur™
6
As part of a conventional line, Pulsazur™ is used to produce water of a constant quality.
As part of a membrane line, the Pulsazur™ contributes to the production of good quality water from poor resources.

Pulsazur™ ADVANTAGES
•A PROVEN TECHNOLOGY– Pulsed bed clarification, a reliable technology
found in applications throughout the world
•CONTROLLED HYDRAULICS ENSURING THAT THE PAC BED IS MAINTAINED AND THAT THE RATE
THROUGH THE APPLIANCE REMAINS STEADY
•A FLEXIBLE OPERATION THAT COPES WITH
CHANGES IN FLOW OR QUALITY
– By adjusting pulse and sludge extraction frequency and duration
•OPTIMUM USE OF POWDERED ACTIVATED CARBON
WHICH IS KEPT HOMOGENOUS BY THE INCOMING
PULSED FLOW
•EASY MAINTENANCE– No submerged units, no abrasion or corrosion
possible
