How to Buy a ProteinPowder Supplement
THESE POWDERS THAT ARE LOW QUALITY AREMARKETED TO YOU, THE BUYER, AS HIGH QUALITY.
They have fancy labels to make them look high grade.
Scientific sounding names and ingredients that make
them seem high tech. Sold by mult-million & billiondollar companies which give them more clout, whom
also tout how great their products are compared to
the competition.
Unless you have the knowledge that you will find in
this resource guide, you will most likely become the
victim of buying one of these low quality protein
powders, if you haven’t already.
You will see that the things that are mentioned in this
guide many of the protein powders sold today, if not
all, will fall victim to why they are low quality and how
they are ripping you off one way or another.

You will be presented with facts, not opinions that
show just how some of these protein powders are

said that over 70% of companies are not compliant

to choose that best fits your
needs and budget.
I will start from the lowest
grade to the highest grade.
Please, even though I use
the term low-grade, whey
protein at any level really is
not low grade. As long as it
doesn’t come from China,
India, or some 3rd world
country it’s a good quality
protein.

Whey ProteinConcentrate
THIS IS A WHEY PROTEIN THAT IS 80%PROTEIN OR LOWER, WHICH MEANS IF YOUTOOK 100 GRAMS OF THE POWDER ONLY 80GRAM IS ACTUALLY GOING TO BE PROTEIN.
The rest is typically fat, lactose, and moisture. This isthe stuff you do not want your whey protein powder
to have. That is why typically most people want a
whey isolate because the lactose is not present thus it
does not cause bloating or gas. However whey isolate
is NOT what the companies selling whey protein want
to use because it costs more to make. Thus theirprofit margins are lower. Companies selling whey
protein concentrate will go as far in their marketing
to say that whey protein concentrate is “better” than
whey isolate because it is less processed. But this is
complete bullshit. Whey protein concentrate does not
have any advantages whatsoever (unless you considerfarting fun) over whey protein isolate.

The protein subfractions in whey concentrate are not
any higher than in a whey protein isolate. If they we’re
then you would actually see NUMBERS to back this
statement up. But the companies that are saying this
to try to convince you that whey concentrate is better
than a whey isolate can NEVER back this statement
up by actual numbers because they know if they did
then they would be shown to be wrong. Here are
some numbers for you.
Whey protein concentrate is LOWER in BCAA’s than
whey protein isolate. One of the reasons whey protein
works so well to build muscle is because naturally it is
over 30% BCAA’s. BCAA’s are the building blocks of
muscle. Whey protein isolate is typically over 10% to
15% higher in BCAA’s than whey protein concentrate. And as far as I know most people are buying and
drinking whey protein powder to gain muscle. Thus
one of THE most important factors is the BCAA
content. Makes no sense buying a whey concentrate
thinking its better than a whey isolate when factually
whey isolate has more BCAA’s. Speaking of BCAA’sand marketing, do not be fooled by this type of krap.

See how they try to make you think that they added
BCAA’s, glutamine, and glutamine pre cursors. Well
they didn’t. This is all naturally occurring amino acids.
This would be the same as seeing an orange in the
grocery store and it says on it. “With VITAMIN C”.
Well yea duh, everyone knows that oranges contain
naturally occurring vitamin c. Well the same goes forwhey protein, BCAA’s, glutamine, and glutamine pre
curors are all naturally occurring in the whey protein.
The company selling it did nothing to add to it. They
simply used some slick marketing to jack up the label
to make it look better than it really is.
Ok so now we know factually that a whey protein
concentrate is NOT better than a whey protein isolate

in any category such as protein subfractions and
amino acid content. Companies claiming this can only
yell and scream this, but they cannot back it up with
factual numbers.
And by the way a whey concentrate tastes exactly the
same as a whey isolate, so no biggie there either.
The ONLY reason you would buy a whey protein
concentrate over a whey protein isolate is MONEY.There is nothing wrong with a whey protein
concentrate. It is a great protein powder to use. Still
has one of the highest biological value over any
protein powder. It tastes good and supplies large
amounts of BCAA to the body. So do not think that
whey protein concentrate is a krappy protein, becauseits not. It’s a great protein. However whey protein
isolate is better and that is a fact!

Whey Protein Isolate
WHEY PROTEIN ISOLATE MEANS THAT IF YOU HAVE100 GRAMS OF WHEY PROTEIN POWDER 90 GRAMSOF IT OR HIGHER WILL ACTUALLY BE PROTEIN.
You can have a whey protein isolate as high as 97%
protein (this is made by Davisco foods in Minnesota).I have never seen whey protein that is 99% or higher
in protein. Most whey isolate’s will be 90% protein. It
will be zero, fat, lactose, and carbs. This makes whey
protein isolate a great protein to use by anyone from
kids to old people. It tastes good, mixes good, and no
bloating or gas problems. You can add it to anythingand its very easy to drink. Thus its very user friendly,
however that is not the only reason why whey protein
isolate is so popular.
Again I go back to the fact that the building blocks
of muscle are the BCAA’s. Whey protein isolate isabout 30% BCAAs. That means it you took 30 grams
of powder from whey protein isolate you’d have 9
grams of BCAA’s. if you would use a whey protein

EVER HEAR OF THE EXPRESSION, “THEY DON’TMAKE THINGS LIKE THEY USED TO?”
Back in the early 90’s when whey protein first came
out it was a very effective muscle building protein.
Let me correct myself. SOME whey proteins were veryeffective, but not all. I was about 22 at the time when
I first started bodybuilding and I remember first using
a particular whey protein and let me tell you, when I
was using this particular whey protein I was growing
some serious muscle. This was because of two
reasons. The whey protein back then that I was usingwas bioactively anabolic, and #2 it was almost 100%
undenatured. Let me explain further.
Back when I was twenty-two (just a little wee-protein
guru), even though unbeknownst to me, I was using a
whey protein that was made from skim milk. It tasted
great and had no funny after taste. I got stronger in a
quick period of time and I grew lean muscle. Why was
this? Let me explain…

Whey protein is a dairy product which by law is
required to be pasteurized. Pasteurization involves
heat. Heat denature’s whey protein.
It’s a FACT THAT ALL WHEY PROTEINS MADE
FROM CHEESE ARE PASTEURIZED TWICE.
WHEY PROTEINS MADE FROM MILK ARE ONLY
PASTEURIZED ONCE!
I’m sure most of you have heard of the termundenatured and denatured. Denatured means
in layman’s terms that the protein was damaged
somewhat during manufacturing. When the protein
is damaged, it loses some of its muscle building
effectiveness. The whey protein I used back then
was only slightly denatured because it came frommilk. This meant that the anabolic serum albumins,
growth factors, subfractions and immunnoglobulins
are mostly intact. Because of this the whey protein
I was using was producing some results. But as the
years went on, whey protein manufacturers started
to get their whey protein from cheese. And whenwhey protein comes from cheese it must by USDA
law be pasteurized twice. Once coming from the
cow to the milk and then again from the milk to the
cheese. By doing this, it was literally diminishing the
muscle building effects of whey protein. Years and
years went by and supplement companies, more andmore where selling whey protein from cheese, not
milk. Granted whey protein made from cheese is still

a very, very high quality protein. You still get all your
amino’s, and the protein has a great biological value
compared to all other protein sources. However when
more and more companies were selling whey protein
made from cheese people were seeing less and less
results.
And there is a big protein with that… let me explain.
Mostly all whey protein that exists today have thefollowing problems.
1. They are denatured because they
come from cheese
2. Whey Protein from cheese is heat
pasteurized twice
3. Supplement companies lie to you
telling that their whey protein is
• Cold processed
• rBST certified free
• Comes from grass fed cows
• Of the highest quality
4. Comes from supplement companies whose
owners are not really experts. They are self-
created experts.

5. And most important HAVE NO supporting
documents to back up their marketing claims.
Look, I’ve been in the protein business for almost 20years and I know my protein. That is why I can create
protein supplements that are the best. And that is
exactly what I do.
The most important thing to know about Native whey
protein isolate is that is comes directly from MILK,NOT cheese. This is a very unique technology. This
means the whey protein comes from skimmed milk,
via micro and ultra filtration and a non-denaturating
heat treatment. This absence of denaturation enables
the Native Whey protein to fully maintain their
nutritional and functional benefits, unlike whey proteinfrom cheese.
Secondly, native whey protein comes from France, a
country where dairy cows are grass fed and hormone
free. This leads to the old “rBST free” or “rBGH” free
on the label for a lot of protein powders that you’ll see
on the market but this is bogus info and let me explain
why IT is bogus and ILLEGAL!!
In order to make this claim you must test your whey
protein powder for these hormones. And the problem
about this is that these hormones are UNDECTABLE
in tests! Don’t believe me, ask any company that puts
rBST free on their label and they will NOT be able
to show you a laboratory test! Pretty shameful and

deceitful huh? If you see “rBST” free on a protein label
do not buy it.
The only TRUE way to tell if your protein supplementis rBST free and rBHG free is to know what country
the whey protein comes from. It’s illegal in France to
use hormones on dairy cows!
HEAT.
Native whey protein is made to avoid the “double”
pasteurization process that whey protein from cheese
is subjected to. You see if a whey protein comes from
CHEESE, by law, it must be pasteurized TWICE. Native
whey protein, becomes it comes from milk, only has
to be pasteurized ONCE!
Don’t be fooled by companies that use terms like,
“low heat processed, cool process, or similar”. There
is no such thing. All dairy proteins must be heat
pasteurized and they are all pasteurized at the same
time and temperature.
Then there is labeling. There are many ways
companies selling whey protein try to fool you with
tricky labeling and outright lies and unethical labeling
practices. Including lying about the ingredients and
how much protein is actually in their whey protein.

HERE IS ONE WAY THESE COMPANIES DO THIS
Calling their whey protein a “food” instead of a
“supplement” & in addition to listing the proteiningredients NOT in the supplement facts panel.
You see when a company sells their whey protein
as a supplement instead of a food (a whey protein
supplement will have a supplement facts panel, and a
whey protein food will have a nutrition facts panel) itgoes through over 20 more tests than a whey protein
food. Whey Protein labeled with a nutrition facts
panel can be lower in quality because companies
selling whey protein with a nutrition facts panel are
not required to do testing from strength, purity, and
identity. You think they would want to right? WRONGthis would cut into their profit margin!
In addition don’t be fooled by companies saying they
use protein blends and then listing it in the ingredients
section of the label. This is how they actually hide the
blend. A true fully transparent protein blend with list
“IN GRAMS” inside of the supplement facts panel.
Many devious supplement companies will say they use
25% whey, 25% casein, and 50% milk protein, but then
list the proteins in the “ingredients” section of the
label. REAL laboratory test protein powders that are
“blends” will have the proteins listed in GRAMS inside
the supplement facts panel.

Hydrolyzed WheyProtein
ONE OF THE BEST PROTEIN POWDERS YOU CAN USEIS A HYDROLYZED PROTEIN. WITH THE EXCEPTIONOF HYDROLYZED GELATIN OR COLLAGEN.
A hydrolyzed protein powder is pre-digested protein.
Meaning it is broken down to a certain degree from itswhole food form, thus making it faster and easier to
absorb. (Keep in mind that whey protein concentrate
and isolate are whole food proteins.) And this is great
for muscle building. Manufacturers can hydrolyzed
any protein powder, but in this case we are talking
about hydrolyzed whey protein. Hydrolyzed wheyprotein is sold VERY infrequently. If you can find
100% hydrolyzed whey protein on the retail shelf you
are lucky. Why is this? Because it tastes HORRIBLE.
The horrible taste is due to the peptides themselves.
The peptides that are broken down from enzymes
added to the whey protein by the manufacturergive off the bitter taste, the smaller the peptides
the worse the taste. That is why it is impossible to

drink a hydrolyzed whey protein. However if you
can find a way to drink it (like your taste buds can
tolerate anything) then you are really helping your
muscle building efforts. Efforts to build muscles are
enhanced because the hydrolyzed whey protein is
absorbed much more efficiently than whey protein
isolate or whey protein concentrate. Additionally
hydrolyzed whey protein is absorbed faster as well.
Thus using a hydrolyzed whey protein pre and post
workout is a good idea instead of using regular whey
protein and fast digesting carbs like maltodextrin
or dextrose. What you would do is take about 25 to
40 grams of a good high quality hydrolyzed whey
protein and stack it with around 50 to 70 grams of
carbohydrates. Now be careful because there are
many post workout supplement available today. These
products are usually just maltodextrin, whey protein
concentrate and sometimes some added free form
amino acids. However their advertised as being the
best post workout you can buy. NOT! A good quality
post workout would be something like high quality
fruit and vegetable in a blender or a powdered carb
like sweet potato powder, and a hydrolyzed protein
powder. In addition you can get something like leucine
peptides and use pre and post workout. We know
that the amino acid leucine is a major player in protein
synthesis. Using it in your pre and post workout meal
is a great idea. Keep in mind I don’t recommend
L-Leucine. This free form amino acid has never been
proven to build muscle. Not only that but take this

into consideration. Free form amino acids have been
around since the 1980’s. Can you say ridiculously old?
Never use a free form amino acid over a hydrolyzed
protein product.
Additionally I would rather see you chose chocolate
milk than the supplements being sold today.
Chocolate milk consists of fructose (slow digesting
carbs) and milk protein (slow digesting protein with
lactose). Its common sense to know that betterquality ingredients, produce better results than
the average post workout formula that a lot of
supplement companies are selling.
ONE LAST THING
But before you buy a hydrolyzed whey protein you
MUST know the molecular weight average of the
powder you want to buy. If you do not then under
no circumstance should you buy the hydrolyzed
whey you are looking at. Why do I say this? Because
the QUALITY of hydrolyzed whey protein can varydrastically, so drasitically between good hydro whey’s
and bad hydro’s whey’s its not even funny. Good
quality hydrolyzed whey protein will taste very, very
bitter. So bitter that you cannot even drink them. If
you have purchased a whey protein that claimed to
be hydrolyzed and it didn’t taste bitterness you justgot ripped off. If you bought one of those so-called
whey protein blends and you read the back of the

ingredient deck and you see “hydrolyzed whey
protein”, but then once you mix it with water and
drink it you cannot taste one hint of bitterness and
instead you’re like, “Wow this tastes like a Milkshake!”.
Then you have yourself a low quality hydro whey or
a protein powder with virtually no hydrolyzed whey
protein whatsoever and the company selling that
product just put that on the back of the ingredient
deck to make it seem like it has hydrolyzed whey
when it really doesn’t. Trust me this happens all the
time. If you have a whey protein concentrate for
example and it says contains “whey peptides” this is
the hydrolyzed whey. However if you cannot taste any
bitterness then you know that there is barely, if any at
all hydrolyzed whey protein in it. Thus it makes it very
easy to know if you have a good hydrolyzed whey
protein, simply look for the bitter taste.
SO LET’S GET TO IT AND I’LL GIVE YOU ALESSON ON HYDROLYZED WHEY PROTEINS.
Let’s say a hydrolyzed whey protein has a molecular
weight average of 520 daltons. This means on average
this powder is 5 amino acids linked together. Not to
bad being that di and tri peptides (two and three
amino acids) is the final phase of absorption through
the small intestine and into the blood stream.
One of the best proteins on the market is a hydrolyzed
protein called Peptopro. Peptopro is actually a

hydrolyzed casein. Now you may be thinking
“CASEIN!!” isn’t casein a slow release protein? Yes in
its whole food state casein is a slow release protein,
but this is in its hydrolyzed (pre-digested) state. Thus
it is broken down into di and tri peptides and has an
average molecular weight of 250 daltons. This to date
is the lowest molecular weight of any protein powder
in existence. Not only that but Peptopro is somewhat
de-bitterized. Hydrolyzed proteins are very bitter.
Why? Because the small peptides have a very bitter
taste. And the lower the molecular weight the more
bitter the powder. And the powder can be so bitter
that it is undrinkable. Peptopro can be mixed with
around 20 oz. of a juice and it is drinkable. However
do not try to use Peptopro like a regular protein or
you will not be able to drink it. Use it particularly pre
and post workout with a high GI carb to really give
yourself an insulin spike. If you are a beginner to lifting
weights than do not take this approach. Instead use a
natural carb like Oatmuscle or sweet potato powder.
Peptopro is a serious protein and it is the KING of
hydrolyzed proteins.
TO SUM THINGS UP
• Only buy a hydrolyzed protein if you know the
molecular weight average (MW)
• Quality hydrolyzed whey proteins will taste
bitter. No bitterness equals low quality

whey isolate is between 6 and 7 dollars per pound.
Remember that whey protein is a dairy protein. It
comes from cows. Thus it makes it a commodity and
is effected by global events, such as a drought in New
Zealand will raise prices. Stronger demand in Chinawill raise prices. Cost of corn going up to feed the
cows will raise the price of whey protein. So when
your whey protein that you buy goes up in cost you
can suspect that is just some global event that is
occurring.

Unpasteurized WheyProtein
I GET THIS QUESTION A LOT HENCE I AM GOINGTO ELABORATE A LITTLE MORE INTO DETAIL.
FACT: There is no such thing as 100% undenatured
protein powder and/or unheated protein powder.
There is no such thing as “raw” whey protein powder.
FACT: USDA law requires that all dairy products,
which includes whey protein to be pasteurized.
The only approved method of pasteurization is
heat pasteurization. The USDA sets the law at the
temperature and time it must undergo the heat. All
the whey protein companies use the same temp
and time. This denatures the protein somewhat, but
not completely. Next the protein powder must be
converted from a liquid to a powder. How? Spray
drying, which also involves heat. Another denaturing
step.
Now let’s talk turkey. Because the marketing guys
that try to sell their cheap whey protein as either:

undenatured, raw, cold process, chill filtration, or
whatever they are going to continue to spew their

HERE IS WHAT YOU ASK TO ONE OF THESE COMPANIES
1. Ok if you’re protein is raw does the USDA know
about this?
2. What method do you use to kill e.coli, andsalmonella, because I don’t want to die from
taking a product that I’m using to improve my
health?
3. What is the percentage of Immunoglobulins is
in your powder? Because if it is not higher than
10% than it’s just a regular old whey protein.
4. How do you get the powder from liquid to
powder because as far as I know there are only
two ways: spray drying and freeze drying and
by looking at your powder I can tell its not
freeze dried and spray drying involves heat..so
please explain?
5. How do you prove your whey protein is
hormone free? Because as far as I know rBST is
undetectable in tests.

not issue them….they only issue organic?

The Dirty EstrogenicSecret Inside YourWhey Protein!
You reach into your favorite protein powder, look for
the scoop and scoop out a bunch of powder. You
then take that powder and then put it into a glass of
water or milk. You stir it around with a spoon and the
powder vanishes into the liquid. No signs of powder.
You proceed to drink the protein fortified liquid withno signs of clumps of powder.
But did you know that a special process and
ingredient is ADDED to the whey protein to make it
dissolve into the liquid you are using? This ingredient
is a secret in the protein industry however it should
not be overlooked because it is something that you
should definitely NOT be consuming, yet alone multi
times per day (if you take protein powder numerous
times throughout the day).
In order for a powder to be soluble in a liquid it
must be instantized. You won’t find instantized in
the dictionary, it’s a food industry term. Technically
“instantized” means improving dispersion. But to us

bodybuilders & athletes it means making a powder
mix easily with a spoon so it quickly converts to a
complete liquid and no lumps or clumps of powder
are showing. Nobody likes lumpy or clumpy protein
drinks. Ninety-nine point nine percent of whey protein
powders or protein blends are instantized. Instantizing
a powder is a great thing. Without instantizing we
would not be able to mix protein shakes with a spoon
or shaker cup. It would always require a blender and
even so, you would still get clumps and lumps of
powder and if you ran the blender too fast it would
foam up to a point where you couldn’t even see the
powder, it would all be foam. Yes, INSTANTIZING IS A
GREAT THING!!! Three cheers for instantizing, HIP, HIP,
HOOOORAY!!!
HOW IT’S DONE
With the exception of a few giant food companies,
like Glanbia Nutritionals that owns Optimum Nutrition
and BSN, supplement company’s don’t make their
own whey protein powders. Larger dairy and cheese
companies make these products. Whey protein
comes from milk and cheese thus whey protein
manufacturing is done by these companies. These
dairy and cheese companies take the liquid stream
of whey and use filters to get the non-protein
material separated. The finished product can be
whey protein concentrate or whey protein isolate.
After that it is made into a powder, usually through

spray drying. Each one is a great protein to use. But
the manufacturing process is not completed yet.
Next the whey protein concentrate or whey protein
isolate powder has to be INSTANTIZED. Because
consumers like yourself are no way in hell going to
drink a powder that is NOT instantized. Thus the whey
protein manufacturers usually send the NON-Instant
whey powder to be INSTANTIZED at a facility that
specializes in instantizing protein powders. After it’s
instantized it is sent to a contract packager where
they flavor it and put it in containers and then send it
to distributors who then find a way to get it into your
hands for consumption!
SWITCHING GEARSAbout 10 years ago soy protein was pretty popular.
It was being marketed (of course by the soy protein
manufacturers) as having a great biological value
and PDCAA. Soy protein isolate was being marketed
as very high in glutamine, no fat, no lactose and
no carbs. It was less expensive than whey and was
poised to be the king of protein powders. But then
something was discovered about soy that was very,
very disturbing. Research was coming in that soy
protein contained these “things” called isoflavones.
Isoflavones are phytoestrogens that act like
hormones, the most common you might have heard
of are genistein and daidzein. These isoflavones can
exert estrogenic effects on the body. And estrogen,

if you don’t know, is the female hormone. The last
thing a bodybuilder would want is to increase their
estrogen. Soy protein is very high in isoflavones
(phytoestrogens). After it was discovered that soy
protein could raise estrogen in the body, soy protein
was to bodybuilders as kryptonite is to Super-
man. Because who the hell would willingly subject
themselves to an intake of phytoestrogens?!?
Not only was it discovered that soy protein mayincrease estrogen in your body, but soy contains other
natural antinutrients and toxins: allergens, goitrogens,
lectins, oxalates, phytates, protease inhibitors, and
saponins are just a few of them.
The days of soy protein powders and soy proteinfoods were doomed. Today if you’re lucky you might
be able to find soy protein powder in some bottom
shelf grocery store. But I highly doubt you can find
soy protein in any health food store today. There is
simply no logically reason to consume soy and/or soy
protein. Now keep in mind, what you just read aboutsoy and estrogen, because it is going to relate to the
whey protein that you might be drinking now…
BACK TO INSTANTIZING
So as I was saying, the whey protein concentrate orthe whey protein isolate must be instantized before it
is dry blended with flavoring and put into containers
and sold to you. Instantizing is not really a complex

process but it involves a product called “soy lecithin”
that is bonded to the powder to decrease the surface
area and therefore increasing dispersion. Whey
protein manufactures use about 0.5 to 1.5% of soy
lecithin to make their powders “instantized”. Therefore
every time you buy a whey protein concentrate or
whey protein isolate that is instantized (which pretty
much means all of them) you are technically buying
whey protein and soy lecithin. (Side note, it is now
required by the FDA that all whey protein powders
that are instantized list soy lecithin in the ingredient
deck, not doing so is against FDA regulations.)
WHAT IS SOY LECITHIN?
Soy lecithin comes from soy oil. After the soybeans
are pressed and the oil is extracted the sludge
left over is made into soy lecithin. ( You see, soy
manufacturers will find any use for soy by-products)
Soy lecithin is a disgusting looking product that
requires a harsh chemical process to make. Other
chemicals are added just to kill off the putrid smell.
Soy companies then (after paying their scientist
to come up with uses for soy lecithin) decided this
product could be used as an emulsifier (soy lecithin)
and marketed it that way. Thus it found its way into
our protein powders. Remember you really didn’t
have instantized powders until the late 80’s maybe
even early 90’s. (Hmmmm....how convenient, isn’t that
when the soy craze just started to be born). So yes..all

along you have been slowly and methodically dosing
yourself with estrogenic compounds,
WHY OH WHY DO THEY USE SOY LECITHIN?
So why do the dairy and cheese manufacturers use
soy lecithin to instantize their protein powders. Cash
is king my friends. Soy lecithin is cheap, cheaper than
any other form of lecithin. It’s as simple as that.
WHY IS SOY LECITHIN SO BAD?
Soy protein contains phytoestrogens. Soy oil contains
phytosterols and because soy lecithin comes from soy
oil it too contains phytosterols. Therefore soy lecithin
exerts estrogenic effects in the human body. How?The plant estrogens known as phytosterols; beta-
sitosterol, campesterol and stigmasterol have all been
found in soy lecithin through independent laboratory
analysis. (see lab report on next page) Years ago
pharmaceutical companies used these phytosterols
to make human sex hormones. Now, big whey proteinmanufacturers use soy lecithin to instantize your whey
protein powder. The phytosterols in soy lecithin cause
endocrine disruption in the body. The phytosterols
are similar to the isoflavones found in soy protein
(genistein and daidzein). Even more alarming is the
phytosterols found in soy lecithin are structurallysimilar to the synthetic estrogen diethylstilbestrol

(DES). Therefore soy lecithin may increase estrogen
and decrease testosterone in your body.
AVOID SOY LECITHIN AT ALL COSTS!
Bodybuilders should avoid soy protein, soy oil, and
soy lecithin at all costs because of the isoflavones and
phytosterols. Isoflavones (also called phytoestrogens
or plant estrogens ) exert estrogenic effects
directly and indirectly: directly by binding with
estrogen receptors and indirectly by interfering
with estrogen production. The phytoestrogens are
similar enough structurally to act like hormones and
bind with estrogen receptor sites throughout the
body. Phytosterols block receptor sites needed for

testosterone. The last thing a bodybuilder or any man
for that matter wants to do is INCREASE estrogen
and block testosterone in their body. Estrogen (if you
don’t know) is a female hormone.
WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?
Over the past years, many companies have been
developing soy lecithin free instantized whey proteins.
Instead of using soy lecithin, most are using sunflower
lecithin.
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOUR WHEYPROTEIN CONTAINS SOY LECITHIN?
Take a careful look at the ingredients of your wheyprotein and fnd the soy lecithin. Here is one we found. I
highlighted the soy lecithin.
Protein blend (whey protein protein [whey protein
concentrate, soy lecithin ], whey protein isolate), cocoa
powder [process with alkali], natural and artificialflavors, acesulfame potassium, sucralose.
Take a look at this next label (which is against FDA
regulations), which lists lecithin but omits the word
“soy”. There is no such thing as just lecithin. Lecithin
must come from something. The company here
omitted soy because they know the word “soy” is
the death to any protein supplement. Not listing
“soy lecithin” and listing just “lecithin” is against

FDA regulations. Technically this protein supplement
can be embargoed i.e. confiscated by the FDA for
mislabeling and/or misleading. Why? Because there
are bodybuilders out there that are deathly allergic to
soy products, whether it be soy protein, soy oil, or soy
lecithin. And because soy lecithin is so widely used in
food products, more and more people are building up
allergy’s to soy foods. The example is below…note how
they just list “lecithin”
Protein Blend (Whey Protein Isolates, Whey Protein
Concentrate, Hydrolyzed Whey Peptides), Natural
and Artificial Flavors, Lecithin, Citric Acid, Malic Acid,
Acesulfame Potassium, Aminogen, Yellow # 5 & 6,
Sucralose, Lactase.
Finally, here is an example of a protein supplement
that completely omits “soy lecithin” or any “lecithin”
for that matter. This is against FDA regulations.
Whey Proteins And Peptides, Including Ion Exchange
Whey Protein With Beta Lactoglobulin, Alpha-
Lactalbumin, Immunoglobulin, Bovine Serum Albumin,
Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Hydrolysate Peptides And

In conclusion, try to avoid soy lecithin. Woman
especially should avoid soy products and soy lecithin.
I know there are some studies that suggest soy
increases chances of breast cancer.

Let’s Begin the HonestyIndoctrination
THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A WHEYPROTEIN SUPPLEMENT AND A WHEY PROTEIN FOOD.
It is important to know that one is much higher quality
than the other. Keep reading and I’ll give you the facts.
The first step is to identify a whey protein
supplement.
It is easy to identify a whey protein supplement.
Simply look at the front of the label of your whey
protein and it should say “dietary supplement” on the
bottom. However, because the supplement industryis filled with owners who have no clue what they are
doing when it comes to labeling their supplements,
turn to the back and you should be able to find the
supplement facts panel. Here is an example of an
accurate supplement facts panel.

Why are mostly all whey proteins labeled with a

to their thinking. However I don’t want to single them

back of protein powders, almost all have a nutrition

So what makes a company decide whether they
are going to label their protein powder a dietary
supplement or a food product? Well, I believe it all
stems from the following 3 reasons: willingness to be
compliant with the FDA’s CFR 111’s, clever thinking, orignorance.
I’LL START WITH THE FIRST ONE I MENTIONED.
1. WILLINGNESS TO BE FDA GMP COMPLIANT
In 2010 the FDA enacted the Code of Federal
Regulations 111’s. This is the FDA rules for
manufacturing, distributing, and holding dietary
supplements. http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/
cdrh/cfdocs/cfcfr/cfrsearch.cfm?cfrpart=111 .
All companies that have their name and address on
a dietary supplement must follow these rules. Dan
Fabricant, head of the FDA’s dietary supplements

until April 2014, said in a speech that he gave at an
ingredient supply show, that 70%-80% of supplement
companies still don’t follow the rules. However, here
at ProteinFactory.com® we label our protein powders
supplements for your benefit. How does it benefit
you? How does that guarantee our protein is not just
better but WAY BETTER than a nutrition facts panel
protein? Simple, the CFR 111’s we follow to label whey
protein a supplement has almost 100 more quality
checking tests and procedures than a nutrition panel
label. One quality check is 3rd party analysis testing,
which basically ensures you will never buy a protein
that has 21 grams per serving, and only really be
getting 5. That’s what happened below:
It’s not only the company above that apparently has
suspect protein, in my opinion, based on Fabricants
statement, most supplement companies are not
following supplement laws, which has no 3rd party
analysis checking to see if their label matches their
protein. Hence, they released their protein for sale
to the public without verifying what is on the label is

actually in the plastic container. Seems this company
was found out through someone that privately 3rd
Party tested their stuff. The company may have
known, or may have not, but if they labeled their
powder a supplement, and followed the supplement
laws, they definitely would have known and never
been in this situation, along with their loyal customers.
This could, and in my opinion would, be the same case
for every protein retailer.
It isn’t surprising to me knowing the history of dietary
supplements, the hooligans that are associated with
the sports nutrition industry, and the products that
they are marketing. It’s not the FDA’s job to TELL you
to follow the new CFR 111’s, it’s your responsibility
to do so. Kind of like paying your taxes. It’s not theIRS’ job to TELL you to pay your taxes. It’s your
responsibility. If you don’t, you go to jail. If you are
a company selling whey protein powder you should
label it a dietary supplement. It’s your responsibility.
If you don’t, at the very least, your protein powder is
suspect, at the most you are stealing from customers, endangering consumers, & breaking the law.

powder a dietary supplement and give it a
supplement facts panel, NOT a nutrition facts
panel.
2. IGNORANCE
Some companies selling whey protein are just
ignorant to the FDA 111’s. They have no clue what
they are and/or have never heard of them. An
entrepreneur with a business idea, and some cash,
or ex- professional bodybuilder (Gaspari, Coleman,
Yates, Labrada, Cutler to name a few), or some
investors, want to start a company and sell whey
protein. They call up a “private label manufacturer”,
get a price quote, have their label made by someone

who has no clue about the regulations and the
designer simply copies another whey protein label.
In 8 weeks they have their whey protein powder
labeled nutrition facts or supplement facts but have
no idea why. I would guesstimate more than half of
the protein powders sold today fall into this category.
I can’t tell you how many times I get contacted here
with a guy that says, “Hey I want to private label
some whey protein because I have a gym with 3000
members. Can I get a price quote on a 5lbs bottle
of whey”. I say, “Sure thing, but I must advise you
first that you need to have your SOP manual done
BEFORE you start selling a dietary supplement.”
And then they’re like…er, um…what’s that. Following
the 111’s is very difficult. The FDA estimated the cost
to be compliant could run between 20K and 100K
(depending on the size of the company). However,
this doesn’t mean that it doesn’t stop a business
savvy person from manufacturing a whey protein
powder with his new companies name on it. ANY
contract manufacturer or private label manufacturer
will take anyone’s money and make them a product.
It’s not THEIR job to make sure the company that
they are making the powder for is FDA compliant.
One of the largest cheese companies in the world,
owns the HUGE COMPANY that boasts the number
one selling whey protein powder in the world. Whey
comes from cheese (well sometimes milk) thus,
it made sense that this LARGE cheese company

Not only do they label it as nutrition facts, if you look
in the ingredients, Aminogen is added, which is an
enzyme, making this product in my opinion, clearly
a dietary supplement. Could it be switching it to a
supplement label and following the CFR 111’s would
cost the company millions?

Further FDA MarketingLaws
IN ADDITION, LOOK AT THE WAY THIS PRODUCT ISMARKETED. THE FDA TAKES INTO CONSIDERATIONTHE WAY A PRODUCT IS MARKETED.
It is sold as a recovery supplement, not a MEAL.
If it was a meal it would be marketed as a food. This product is clearly marketed as a whey protein
supplement, not a whey protein food. It has pictures
of bodybuilders in the ads, it talks about recovery for
pre and post workout, and mentions amino acids in
the powder. Clearly, this is meant to “supplement” the
diet.
So the question remains, WHY on earth would they
NOT label this a dietary supplement? Could it be
switching to the CFR 111’s would mean a lot more hired
labor, inspections and paperwork?
Now I can’t speak about why this HUGE Company or
any other company would label their whey protein
with nutrition facts versus supplement facts, but I

can tell you this. (And pay attention because this is
important.)
If the Whey Protein Powder is labeled with a NutritionFacts Panel it is subjected to FAR LESS quality control
manufacturing practices and regulations than a Whey
Protein Powder labeled as a dietary supplement with
a Supplement Facts Panel. The more tests to ensure
quality, the more money it will cost to produce.
Therefore, it costs a LOT LESS TO PRODUCE ANDGET TO MARKET a protein powder with a Nutrition
Facts Panel. Thus, creating a lesser quality, unreliable
protein powder for the consumer (you), with a much
higher profit margin for the retailer.

There are two sets of regulations the FDA has.
One I mentioned already called Part 111 “Current
Good Manufacturing Practice in Manufacturing,
packaging, labeling, or holding operations for dietary
supplements. This pertains to dietary supplements
obviously. The other set is called this, Part 110 “Current
good manufacturing practice in manufacturing,
packing, or holding human food” http://www.

I think it’s smart to use the Protein tested with the
much more rigorous, & thorough CFR 111 quality

Furthermore, I count 16 subparts for the CFR 111’s.
Now I compared the number of sections for the 110’s
vs. the 111’s. The 110’s have 11 sections. The CFR 111’s
have over 100!!!! That is over 10 times the amount
of regulations that the FDA imposes for dietarysupplements. That is over 10 times the amounts of

AS YOU CAN SEE A COMPANY SELLING AWHEY PROTEIN AND LABELING IT WITH A

QUALITY CONTROL CHECKS THAN IF THEYLABEL A POWDER A DIETARY SUPPLEMENT!
AMAZING & DISTURBING at the same time! It’s OK

Think it matters? Ask the people who bought 23
grams of protein per serving and got 5 in the article I
referenced before!
Can you now see why a company would want to label
their whey protein powder with a Nutrition Facts
Panel instead of a Supplement Facts Panel? Do you
know how much more time and money it costs to
label a whey protein powder a dietary supplement vs.
a food product? Look at all the sections I just pointed
out in the 111’s vs. the 110’s. Thousands and thousands
of dollars in testing, paperwork, lab work, man power,
and time! Now if you’re a huge company selling whey
protein, figure the costs to make a food product
versus a dietary supplement. Like I have stated, it
could cost millions of dollars! And unfortunately, who
pays for the current “Nutrition Facts Label?” YOU!!
You pay by getting a low quality whey protein that
has not gone through the proper tests that a dietary
supplement should go through to ensure its strength
(protein levels), composition (to make sure it actually

is whey protein), and purity (that it doesn’t contain
anything else that shouldn’t be there).
IF YOU ARE A BUYER OF WHEY PROTEIN IT’SCLEARLY OBVIOUS THAT YOU SHOULD ONLY
BUY A WHEY PROTEIN THAT IS LABELEDWITH A SUPPLEMENT FACTS PANEL.
There is absolutely no rational reason why you
WOULD want to purchase a whey protein powder
food over a whey protein powder supplement. Why
would you want to buy a lower quality tested whey
protein powder that has gone through less good
manufacturing practice regulations?
So when deciding on who has the BEST quality of
whey protein the first step is simply seeing if it’s a
dietary supplement or not. However, the label really
doesn’t mean jack shit if the company is just putting
it there out of ignorance. The NEXT step is to ask to
see the 3rd party lab analysis of the lot number that
is on the bottle. Yes this 3rd party lab analysis is a
requirement in the 111’s not the 110’s. If the company
selling the whey protein supplement is following the
111’s they will have the 3rd party lab analysis. If not
well... you can make your own assumptions. I go over
the 3rd party Analysis in this Youtube Video:

That’s the opening line from Brad Pitt’s movie Fury.
And I’m using that now in the opening of this report

powder is the KING of dietary supplements. If you
took all the supplements sold today, the main bulkof them would be protein powders. More people buy
protein powder than any other dietary supplement.
Walk into any vitamin store and you’ll see rows and

My claim above is bold and shocking and some of
you might be saying, “he’s blowing smoke up my butt
to sell me his powder” and that, “I trust my company
that I buy protein powder from”.
Well I ask you to keep reading and keep an open mind
because what I am about to say is that the protein
supplement industry has been pulling one of the
biggest scams in history of protein and now it is time
to expose these frauds for what they are.
It all starts with the owner, CEO, or president of
a supplement company. This person decides that
he is going to create a protein powder to sell. He
knows that protein powder sells like crazy and he
wants a piece of the pie. So to make his new proteinsupplement he Google’s “supplement manufacturer.
If you do this you’ll see from a Google search that
3 companies have PAID Google to advertise their
business for what I just Googled “supplement
manufacturer”. So this person that wants his own
protein supplement calls one of these companies and
ask them for a price quote for whey protein 2lbs in
chocolate for example. He tells them he wants it to
taste great. The supplement manufacturer calls him
back with a price quote, tells him that it’ll taste like a
milk shake, minimum order, and tells him to send the
label. Approximately 8 weeks later the supplement
manufacturer ships this guy his protein supplement
and he’s ready to sell. Keep in mind that the guy that

wants his own protein supplement knows nothing
about FDA regulations and is never told anything
about them from the manufacturer.
All good right? Wrong. You see pre 2010 the
supplement manufacturing business was like the Wild
West. Any Joe Schmoe could do what I said above
and make a protein powder with their name on. Some
people call this private labeling. Without ANY testing
whatsoever ANYONE with money can have their
very own protein supplement. That was a problem,
big problem. And the FDA knew this was a problem.
And let me make one thing clear to everyone. The
FDA is not bad. Many people get down on the FDA.
I like the FDA, they have helped my company out a
lot. They are not bad people, the only people that do
not like the FDA are companies that are not following
the regulations, don’t want to spend the money and
resources to be regulatory compliant and are worried
about getting CAUGHT by the FDA.
So before 2010 anyone can make a proteinsupplement without doing any testing and not
having to worry about the FDA recalling their protein
supplement. And guess who also knew this, the
company actually making the protein supplement, the
manufacturer. And this is where the scam begins. The
scam called “protein spiking”.
Protein spiking was exposed about 1 year ago. I’m

disgruntled employee from some manufacturer, but
protein spiking is the biggest epidemic to hit the
supplement industry. In a nut shell…
Protein spiking is when non-protein ingredient (s) is
added to protein powder to fool the protein test and
to fool you, the consumer.
“Protein spiking is the practice of adding some
non-protein substance to a protein powder in order toincrease the overall nitrogen content of the powder.
Proteins are the only nutrients that provide nitrogen
(carb and fat do not) (Gene Bruno Natural Product
Insider, Vol 4, No 10, April 2014)
Protein spiking ingredients that are commonly added
to protein powders are the amino acid glycine, taurine,
arginine (and all the derivatives) and the supplement
creatine.
A company does this to increase their profit margin
by adding cheaper ingredients while fooling the lab
test for protein.
Tim Ziegenfuss, CEO of the Center for Applied Health
Sciences as saying “Arginine has approximately three
times more nitrogen than whey protein, and creatine
has approximately one and a half times more nitrogen
at less than half the price. Spiking protein with these
nutraceuticals is a cheap way to drive up the nitrogen

DO THE MATH PEOPLE, THATEQUATES TO A LOT OF MONEY.
Some people actually took it upon themselves to test

If you have been using any of these brands and were
not seeing the gains you would expect it is easy to
explain. When you thought you were getting 25 grams
of protein you might have been only getting 15 or 10
grams.
So now that I have showed you the ugly side of
protein spiking, how it is rampant in the industry, how
you’ve been getting ripped off for years possibly
wasting hundred of dollars on spiked protein, let
me now answer some questions and make somestatements that all of these so-called supplement
experts cannot.
You see I am a real protein supplement expert.
When it comes to manufacturing protein powder
I’m an expert. I’ve been manufacturing protein
powders for over 15 years and have been involved
in everything from creating products from scratch
to finished product testing. In addition I am well

versed in the FDA code of federal regulations 111’s for
dietary supplements. This is what sets me and my
company apart from practically all other supplement
companies. All the other supplement companies have
no clue about manufacturing and formulating. To
make a product they call guys like me and ask for help
because they don’t know a thing about where to get
ingredients, where to have them made, and how to
make them taste good. They only know what kind of
design they want for their label. In addition and this
is the scary part, they have no idea about following
the FDA regulations for manufacturing, holding, and
distributing dietary supplements. And this is bad…
for you at least. It’s only bad for them when the FDA
comes to their headquarters for an inspection. And an
FDA inspection is not guaranteed. If the company isn’t
registered with the FDA the inspection might never
come.
So over 15 years I have been manufacturing protein
supplements, quality protein supplements because
of my companies vast knowledge of the FDA 111’s formanufacturing them. And because of this it has given
me the knowledge to answer the question of who,
what, how, and why did protein spiking ever happen.
And most important, how can you avoid spiked
protein and get real 100% genuine grade a protein
powder. I have put together a top 10 list of the rules to
make sure you don’t get a spiked protein.

THE TOP 10 RULES ON HOW TO BUY APROTEIN POWDER THAT IS NOT PROTEIN
SPIKED AND IS GOOD QUALITY.1. Look for glycine, taurine, arginine, and creatine
on the label. These are the ingredients that
companies use to spike protein powders like
whey protein and beef protein. If you see any of
these on the label DO NOT BUY IT. It’s spiked.
2. Do a Google search for “protein spiking”.
You’ll find many companies are the involved
in protein spiking class action lawsuits. I have
included a bunch at the end of the book. Here
is a list of companies that are involved in class
action lawsuits that allegedly spiked theirprotein powders

3. Make sure the protein powder is labeled as a
dietary supplement or protein supplement.
The front panel of the label at the bottom the
product should say “Dietary Supplement” or
“Protein Supplement.
4. If the protein powder has a Nutrition Facts
panel and NOT a Supplement Facts panel then
do NOT buy it. When companies that label
their protein powders with a nutrition factspanel means it is a food and the FDA food
regulations are not as strict as the supplement
regulations. Companies do this so they can
increase their profits by not performing tests to
verify label claims. Only buy protein powders
that have a supplement facts panel
5. Buy protein powders whose protein is INSIDE
the supplement facts panel, not outside. This
tells you exactly how much protein powder is
used in the supplement.
6. Do not buy protein powders that have ZERO
grams listed in the supplement facts panel.
Bogus companies will label their protein
powders as supplements but really do not have
any idea about the FDA regulations 111’s. I see
this as a major smoking gun to tell you that a
company sells a low quality product. You see
ZERO grams of ANYTHING are not allowed
inside the supplement facts panel. For example,

you cannot list ZERO carbs in the supplement
facts panel. You are only allowed to list
nutrients that are in measurable amounts.
7. Look for soy lecithin on the label. Soy lecithin
used to be a hidden ingredient until I exposed
it three years ago. Soy lecithin does have
estrogenic like compounds. Nobody needs that
stuff. Stay away from it. Sometimes it’s hard
to find so look for allergen information. It isusually there.
8. Call the company and ask them to see a 3rd
party lab analysis on the specific lot that you
may have purchased. FDA regulations require
that all lots produced require testing for labelclaims.
9. Look for amino acids like Leucine, valine, and
other added amino acids on the label. Whey
protein is expensive because it does NOT come
from China. However amino acids, like BCAA’s,
which are made in China is cheaper than whey
protein. So companies will add amino acids to
their protein powders as spiking agents. Don’t
be fooled by “We added our BCAA matrix”.
This is bull dinky, they added Chinese made
amino acids to cut their costs.

10. Look for and find out the companies FDA
registration number. This is very important
because if the company is not registered with
the FDA then they are #1 breaking the law
because all companies selling supplement
are required to register with the FDA. #2 they
are knowingly avoiding FDA regulations by
not registering. And this means they are not
performing tests they should be to make sure
their protein powder meets label claims. If you
don’t see an FDA registration number on their
website contact them and ask for it.
FINALLY, THE QUESTION REMAINSAND IT’S A BIG ONE…
Who are the dirty scoundrels intentionally spiking
protein powder? Is it the CEO of the company who
wants his own protein powder or is it the supplement
manufacturer.
Let me digress for one second to make somethingclear. Ninety-nine percent of the protein powders
that you can buy on the retail shelf or internet today
are NOT made by companies that have their own
manufacturing facilities. Optimum Nutrition, owned
by Glanbia Nutritionals is one of the only companies
that I know that actually MAKE the protein, packageit, and have it ready for the retail sale. Davisco foods

is another one, they sell a product called Bipro. Most
protein powders are “private label”.
Back to my above question. Who is the dirtyscoundrel that is responsible for protein spiking? Is
it the supplement company private label guy or is it
the supplement manufacturer? Or are they in cahoots
together?
First let’s look at the supplement manufacturers. Inthis country there are a bunch of companies that
manufacture supplements. If you go to their websites
you’ll see they all say they are GMP compliant (good
manufacturing practices) and a slew of other so-called
guarantee to market to their potential customers that
they make good product. However this does not meanBo Diddley and here is why.
REASON #1. THEY LIE
The FDA does not approved or certify any factory.
Nor do they approve any dietary supplement madefor retail. The FDA simply enforces their regulation
111’s. Some supplement manufacturers however like to
lie in their marketing and say they are FDA approved
facilities.
Here is a classic example.
http://www.nutricaplabs.com/faqs.aspx

P RO T E I N B U Y E RS RE SO U RC E M A N U A L 2 .0
So what does this tell you about this company. That
they are liars? I think so. The FDA does not approve
any manufacturing facility.
REASON #2. THEY FAIL TO FOLLOW THE REGULATIONS.
If you manufacturer a whey protein isolate, this
is considered by the FDA a dietary supplement,
therefore it must be labeled as such. Any supplement
manufacturer must have master manufacturing
records (MMR) and batch production records (BPR).
This tells you EXACTLY what was added to the
powder, by whom, and how much. Look at what this
supplement manufacturer says on their website.
“ALL CUSTOM FORMULAS ARE PROPRIETARYAND REMAIN PROPERTY OF…..”
http://www.newhorizonnutraceuticals.com/
formulation_library.html
Now anyone that puts his or her’s companies nameand address on the protein supplement must follow
the FDA 111’s. And this means that you must be
supplied with the MMR and the BPR. This company
MUST supply you with the formulas. If this is YOUR
protein supplement, with YOUR companies name on
it, the FDA regulations say that you MUST have in yourpossession the MMR’ and the BPR’s. Thus how can this
company refuse to supply them to the companies that

they are making protein powder for? Oh I know call
it food and label it with a nutrition facts panel so you
can avoid the 111’s and rip people off. Testing we don’t
have to test! “F” the quality testing!!!
#3 They not only make the supplement but they
market it as well. Here is a lawsuit against NBTY which
makes Body Fortress Whey Protein. They allegedly
spike their protein and people are suing them seeking
damages. Well NBTY manufactures Body Fortress
Whey Protein. Now this is a perfect example of a
company knowingly added in the protein spiking
ingredients into their whey protein. Someone at this
company made the decision to add protein spiking
ingredients into this formula. And their label and their
website clearly lists them on the label as well.
Sometimes there is scamming done on both parts of
the protein powder, one by the actual manufacturer
and another by the company selling the protein.

it reads that the company allegedly added protein
spiking ingredients while not divulging it on the label.
No there are two BIG BIG problems with this. First the
manufacturer themselves. You see if they are following
the FDA CFR 111’s then they cannot make this product
because they are mis branding it by knowingly using
ingredients and labeling in it. They added protein
spiking ingredients and labeled it while damn well
knowing these ingredients are in the powder and NOT
on the label.
I think I have given you plenty of examples to show
you that Brad Pitt was right. “Just when you thought it
cant get worse it does”.
Not only do you have supplement companiesspiking their protein powders but they are made
by manufacturing facilities that knowingly do this.
Sometimes they put the protein spiking ingredients
on the label so you can easily avoid the protein and
sometimes they don’t even do that, they just add
glycine and taurine and don’t ever put it on the label.
It’s a big problem, an epidemic really. You just can’t
trust any supplement manufacturers anymore unless

It’s like that time a few years back when I told this guy

Also, we have been getting a lot of people loving
it and testing their own companies. Most peoples
emails say that companies are providing them with
certificates of analysis AKA “C of A’s,” instead of
the 3rd party lab analysis when they ask. These
companies are telling them that it’s the same thing.
Let me make one thing as crystal clear as Fiji water …
A CERTIFICATE OF ANALYSIS OR C OF AIS NOT THE SAME AS A 3RD PARTY LAB

What’s A C of A?
A C OF A OR CERTIFICATE OF ANALYSIS IS ADOCUMENT YOU GET FROM A SUPPLIER OF ACERTAIN INGREDIENT, RAW MATERIAL OR FORTHOSE INTERESTED IN USING THE CORRECT FDACFR 111’S TERMINOLOGY, A COMPONENT.
For example, when I buy my Creapure from Alzchem
(the manufacturer in Germany) they give me a
certificate of analysis.
On this certificate of analysis will be things like e.coli,
salmonella, the total creatine in the product, and otherthings.
However in no way, shape, or form is it a 3rd party lab
analysis.
Not even close!
A certificate of analysis is simply a test that the
manufacturer has done (or so they say they have

done) to show you what is in the product they are

A 3rd party lab analysis is much different and isWHAT YOU NEED to guarantee what is on the label is

WHY DO YOU ABSOLUTE NEED A 3RD PARTY ANALYSISIN 2015 ON EVERY SUPPLEMENT YOU TAKE?
1. The 3rd Party lab test(s) PROVES what is in the
bottle AFTER it is PACKAGED.
2. This supplement industry is loaded with cheats,
scam artists, and liars!
EXAMPLE:
Let’s say I’m a dirty cheating supplement owner and
I want to increase my profit margin on my creatine
because it is a competitive industry.
I mean everybody sells creatine.
Here is what I would do…
I’d order up some good Creapure from the Germans
but I also order up some bad creatine from China.
The Creapure is around $5.00 per pound and theChinese creatine is around $1.00 per pound.

1,100 of them.
I put Creapure on the label and everyone thinks
that they are buying 100% German Creapure and
meanwhile they are only getting around 7% with the
rest being Chinese creatine.
I just made a killer profit! Killer may be a key word, as
Chinese Creatine is Russian roulette with your kidneys,

Then here’s the best part…

Well I can tell you unequivocally that saying, “Our

Why?
All protein supplement manufacturers by LAW are
supposed to be FDA registered and follow the CFR

follow these regulations. And let me make one thing
clear before I forget.
THE FDA DOES NOT APPROVE ANYMANUFACTURING FACILITY OR SUPPLEMENT!!!
THEY SIMPLY ENFORCE THE REGULATIONS.

If you own a dietary supplement manufacturing
facility there is not an official government
organization that deems your manufacturing facility
GMP compliant and you get one of these fancy
looking graphic designs to put on your label or
product. These is just made up. If you see a protein
supplement with a GMP logo on it its make believe.
Really it is!! Crazy right?
So if a supplement company say’s there proteinpowder is made in a cGMP facility it means absolutely
nothing. The only things that matter is if the company
whose NAME and address is on the label is following
the CFR 111’s and that they have a 3rd party lab analysis
verifying what is on the label is in the bottle.
Finally I’d like to point out slew of mis information
that floats around the internet. Especially on message

Check out this thread:

Here’s the first post in the thread of some guy asking

If you have a protein powder that is produced at a

then please list it here.

I will start:
ISOFLEXNow as you can see we have two things. The first is
the guy might have been fooled to think that cGMP
means something that has to do with good quality.
Obviously he thinks it is a sign of quality. And the
second thing is that the poster might have been just
trying to promote isoflex.
Now watch the responses he gets. The first are a
few people naming protein powders that have this
imaginary GMP logo on them. Then some guys asks
this….
Aren’t all supplement companies required to have
their products produced/manufactured/whatever in
cGMP facilities now required by the FDA?
Then the next post in response to this question is
mis information and false from one of these self
proclaimed supplement experts.
No they are not. Especially Creatine supplements.
Most studies on Creatine are performed on

This answer above is 100% inaccurate and completelyfalse information. By FDA law all dietary supplements,

Now the next post is a guy who thinks he’s got it allfigured about but he doesn’t. Here is his post.
It doesn’t matter if the product was manufactured
in a cGMP facility. That only means the facility itself
has been approved to manufacture supplements.
Unless the actual product says cGMP certified andnot “manufactured in a cGMP certified facility” the
product you’re purchasing has NOT been looked at
and verified that what is IN the container is what the
label reads. It’s a crooked way to do business, but it
takes the manufacturer too much time, and too much
money per product to have each product certified. The more people who are aware of this tidbit of
information, maybe the more honest this industry
will become.
First his second sentence is FALSE. As I stated the
FDA does not approve facilities. Second he thinks that
products that say cGMP …well are cGMP. However I
applaud him for trying to point out the antics that are
going on in the supplement business.
I pointed out this tread on bodybuilding.com because
this is a classic example of the mis information people

more product. Not only that buy Bodybuilding.com is
supporting this garbage as well.
The real answer is what I first stated in this article.
cGMP means nothing as far as quality control goes.
Its all made up to make you think it means quality and
testing…but it doesn’t..it just means that the company
is trying to scam you.

Goodbye to the OldSupplement Guru
AND HELLO TO THE NEW ONE
When it comes to supplement experts I have come
to realize that there are very few experts that exist
nowadays. Very few you say? Yes, very few. Let me
explain. About 20 years ago before the internet youhad to read the bodybuilding and muscle magazines
to get your supplement information. However, very
seldom, the information in these magazines was
good. Because very frequently the article in those
magazines was really just an article meant to sell you
something. For example if the so-called supplementexpert wrote an article about how great he thought
creatine was and concluded that everyone should use
it, the very next page in the magazine was a full page
ad of a company selling their creatine. Muscle Media
2000, for those who are old enough to remember
this magazine, was the king at this. They wouldhave someone write an article about a supplement
and then at the end of the magazine have all the
supplements to buy related to those articles. This

practice is still done today and it still works. Open up
any Muscular Development magazine for example
and you’ll see an advertisement for a product made
to “look” like an article written by a supplement
expert. It’s meant to fool the reader into thinking it’s
an article in the magazine and not an advertisement.
It’s typically written by the supplement company
in a way to give you advice what supplement you
should use. I would never, take any advice from any
magazine nowadays. Everything in bodybuilding
magazines has an alternative motive meant to sell
you, the reader, something. And most of the time it’s
a supplement. And when that happens everything is a
lie and the magazine becomes nothing but a catalog
to sell supplements and a slay to their advertisers
that give them ad dollars. Thankfully the internet was
born and the bodybuilding magazines monopoly over
information on muscle building came to an end.
Not soon after the heyday of the bodybuilding
magazine era, something called the internet
was invented (maybe by Al Gore), and a wealthof information was available to every wanna-be
muscle building folk at our finger tips. Wealth about
supplements, weight lifting, anabolic steroids,
and food was just a few Google searches away.
Bodybuilding forums started popping up all over the
place and the self-proclaimed supplement expert was
born from the womb of these forums.

Bodybuilding related forum sites launched via the
internet and on these forums, a forum member would
ask a question like, “When should I use L-Glutamine?”,
and some forum expert, would post the answer. But
as time went on more and more self-proclaimed
experts would exist on that particular forum. Before
you know it when the same question was asked on
the forum years later, you would have 10,000 experts
telling the guy when to use L-glutamine. Then all the
self-proclaimed experts would argue with each other
about who was right and who was wrong. It seemed
to me at least that the most respected trolls, eh hem
I mean forum supplement experts, were just the ones
with the most posts.
It didn’t take long for the owners of thesebodybuilding forums to capitalize on their forums
popularity. This is how Bodybuilding.com was
started. Forums became a great place to pimp your
supplements if you were a supplement company
owner because a recommendation from someone
is a much more powerful advertising tool thenanything in the world. And a recommendation
of a supplement on a forum is really a review. So
guess what happened next? Review sites started
popping up on the internet. A place where people
could review a supplement and post what kind of
results they had with that product. It didn’t matter
anymore whether the supplement expert said it was
a good supplement or not because there was 1,000

THE FDA HAS MADE IT CLEAR THAT IN ORDERTO COME OUT WITH A NEW SUPPLEMENTYOU HAVE TO GET THEIR APPROVAL.
Now make sure you understand this. A new
supplement is not something that a supplementcompany as you know it makes and puts on the shelf
at your local supplement store. A new supplement
is actually a new ingredient that has not existed
previously for sale. This my friends has not been done
in years. Therefore in actuality a new supplement
for muscle building has not been created in yearsbecause the FDA has not given their clearance to
sell this product to the public. FYI here is a typically
example of a company breaking FDA law; supplement
companies selling creatine nitrate. The FDA has
made it clear that they did not approve this product
for sale as a dietary supplement. If you want a quickway to make money via a lawsuit, go by a creatine
nitrate supplement, use it, say you got sick and

then go sue the company that makes it. You would
have some great ammunition in court because this
product should not be allowed to used as a dietary
supplement. The FDA has made it clear that creatine
nitrate is not approved! I’m just being extreme with
that example, I don’t recommend doing that, I’m just
expressing my frustration with the sports nutrition
industry. Anyway, this in turns leaves absolutely
nothing for supplement gurus and experts to talk
about anymore. How many times are we going to see
articles about whey protein and creatine? How many
times are we going to see articles about BCAA’s and
CLA? When there is nothing new to talk about the old
supplement experts have nothing to say. Slowly but
surely they disappear from the internet.

The New SupplementExpert
TODAY, RIGHT HERE IN THIS ARTICLE I’MANNOUNCING THE DEFINITION AND BIRTHOF THE NEW SUPPLEMENT EXPERT.
So you old supplement experts that still want to have
a career read carefully. The new supplement expertis not someone that knows about creatine, whey
protein, amino acids, or whatever else is from 10 years
ago because that has been done over and over again
and for the reasons I have stated above. The new
supplement expert is someone that has a complete
understanding and comprehension of the FDA’s,Code of Federal Regulations 111’s. The FDA CFR’s 111’s
are the government’s regulations to make and sell a
dietary supplement. All supplement companies must
follow the 111’s. This includes private label supplement
companies. If you have your company’s name on the
supplement you must follow the 111’s. This might bebrand new information for some but just because
you do not physically make the supplement does not

mean you do not have to follow the 111’s. Don’t go on
the notion of (because I have heard this 1,000 times
from many private label supplement companies),
well my manufacturer told me that they take care of
all the FDA regulations. Well yea, of course they do
because if they didn’t they wouldn’t be allowed to
operate, however this does NOT make you immune
to the 111’s. Technically you are, according to the 111’s,
a holding and distributing company. And therefore
you are responsible to follow the 111’s. The days of
saying, “Hey I got $10,000.00, let me start my own
supplement company!” are over. Before you even
think about your label design, logo, and getting price
quotes, you better instead figure out how you’re
going to construct you operating manual!! And doing
all that takes time and education. Getting educated
will eventually lead you to become my new version of
the supplement guru.
If you are a supplement company owner you are
therefore bound to become what I am calling the,
“New Supplement expert”.
This new version of the supplement expert must
be familiar with the following, but not limited
too.
1. Testing Supplements for Identity
2. Testing Supplement for Strength
3. Testing Supplements for Purity

4. Master Manufacturing Records
5. Batch Production Records
6. Microbial Testing7. Qualifications of Labs
And this is just the tip of the ice burg. The new
supplement expert should have a complete
understanding of the above. If not well then they are
just another internet troll trying to become a selfproclaimed supplement expert giving their opinion
on supplements that are 20 years old and been done
1,000 times over. Telling someone how to use creatine
and whey protein is amateur supplement stuff. Telling
someone how to make sure the supplement they
just bought is manufactured in accordance withgovernment regulations is expert knowledge.
Mark my words people. In 2015 the dietary
supplement industry is going to change a lot. No
longer are you going to have supplement companies
popping up left and right selling whey protein,
BCAA’s, and creatine. The industry is going to get
a lot smaller and the new supplement experts that
I coined will start to emerge on the bodybuilding
forums. (Well probably not on the forums unless the
dictators are overthrown) You’re going to see less
products and nothing new over the course of the next
few years. Sad I know.

About 20 years ago when I first started Proteinfactory.
com the very first protein powder that I sold was
whey isolate. I started with this protein powder
because at that time the most popular brand sold
was whey concentrate. And during that time the
most popular brand was Designer Whey Protein. The
ingredients on the back listed a bunch of different
whey proteins, AKA the “protein blend”. It looked like
a high quality protein powder but when I drank it I
would get really bloated, have massive gas, and then
diarrhea. This was all because of the lactose that is
found in whey protein concentrate. I researched and
discovered something called whey protein ISOLATE.
A whey protein isolate did NOT have any lactose. I
ordered a sample from the manufacturer and drank
it. Low and behold no gas, no bloating, no diarrhea.
It was great. And that is how I started my company.
I was one of the only, if not the first, company to sell
whey protein isolate. Needless to say it took off. Once
people started using it (whey isolate) they couldn’t
believe that a whey protein would not give them
stomach discomfort like some of the brands that were
being sold at that time. However some people, well
a lot of people, needed to be convinced on how my
whey isolate was better than their whey protein. So
how did I do this? I told them to follow along with me
as I use my calculator or get their own calculator and
do the math yourself.

What I would tell people is that you need to look at
the nutrition facts panel on the back of the container
and do the math. You take the protein grams and
divide it by the serving size grams.
Usually it would be something like this.
20 grams of protein
30 gram serving size
0.66 is the answer
That means that the protein powder is 66% protein
and 34% non protein ingredients. Like lactose, carbs,
fats, sweeteners, flavorings, and other fillers.
When teaching someone I would typically point out
the protein powder that they were currently using
because I knew mine would be higher because I had
the only whey isolate in the country.
I would then tell them that my whey isolate was 90%
protein! BOOM! SOLD!
And that is how Proteinfactory.com grew. People were
discovering that the protein powder that they were
using was only 60 to 70 percent protein and mine
was 90% protein. I even started to sell whey protein
that was 98% protein. (Nothing can be 100% protein,
meaning you can’t have 100 grams of powder and 100
grams of protein)

If you look at it you’ll see they list protein grams. In
this case its 24 grams. However if you look at where
they list whey protein isolate , milk protein isolate, and
egg protein, they list in the ingredients as if it was a
food product. They do this so you do not know how
many grams they actually put in. This is the classic
protein blend trick. Why do they do this? Profits of
course. You see whey protein isolate costs about
double what a whey concentrate costs. Egg white
protein prices are through the roof right now. So by
making protein blends and not putting the protein
inside the supplement facts panel they are able to use
whatever amounts they want. And you’d have to be
one naive person to think that they are not using 99%
whey protein concentrate (the cheapest ingredient)
and less than 1% off all the rest.

IF A COMPANY IS 100% TRANSPARENTYOU’LL SEE PROTEIN LISTED LIKE THIS.
You see how the proteins are listed INSIDE the

not an optional way of listing protein on a proteinsupplement by the way. Its FDA regulations! So how
do companies get away with this? I’ve been asking

myself that for years. And there is only one answer I
can come up with and that is the FDA simply has not
been able to inspect these supplement companies
that are selling protein supplements like the one
above.
The above label that puts their protein BLEND outside
the supplement facts panel is scamming you. And
the funny thing is, is that this company claims to be
HONEST by marketing the amount of grams they areusing but DOESN’T legally use the correct supplement
facts panel. These are the games these supplement
companies do to fool you. It takes a supplement
expert like me to know these things. I can spot a
bogus protein supplement a mile away. And this
protein supplement above is a scam.
Conclusion: If a protein supplement you want to buy
is high quality it will have the proteins listed INSIDE
the supplement facts panel. Not outside. Now you
are going to find that very few protein powders have
their protein grams listed INSIDE the supplement factspanel. And this just goes to show you just how dirty
the protein selling business is and how companies
that you thought we’re stand up, legitimate, and
honest are not. You will be shocked.

I feel it’s important to let the readers of this book

against companies allegedly protein spiking. Here
is a partial list of class action lawsuits that I found.
If you read some of the lawsuits you’ll see actual
lab tests performed on the defendants proteins. Not sure how you can dispute lab tests, but I’m sure
these companies will find a way. Too bad we all have
to wait to see the outcome of these cases. A bunch
more class action a lawsuits should be filed as well I

in companies selling beef protein powders. If youlook at the labels of these powders you’ll see protein
spiking amino’s and creatine. All the top brands have
them listed on the label.

protein supplements, that one thing would be:
DO NOT TRUST ANY PROTEIN POWDER.
No matter how fancy the label
No matter how big the company is
No matter who is representing the product
No matter who recommended it
No matter what the sales person says behind the

No matter if it tastes delicious
No matter how many people are following the

No matter how many Facebook “Likes” it has
No matter what is guarantees are on the label
The supplement industry relies on people
recommending their product and social media
marketing. If Bodybuilding.com is selling Musclepharm

well it must be good. Why do you think they havecustomer reviews on every product page?

HERE IS WHAT I RECOMMEND FOR THE BESTPROTEIN SUPPLEMENTS & PHYSIQUE BUILDING
1. Buy different sources of proteins NOT blended.Buy a bag of whey isolate, a bag of casein, and
a bag of egg white protein powder and mix
yourself
2. Get a Peptopro. I feel it is the best hydrolyzed
protein on the planet. Use post workout or inbetween meals.
3. Avoid beef protein powder. I have not found
one legitimate beef protein powder that does
NOT contain protein spiking ingredients. If in
the future a beef protein comes out that is new,
it MUST contains only BEEF protein, no amino
acids, or creatine. I like beef protein…a lot…I
think it’s great for muscle gains….it is just that
the ones available today on the retail shelf are
all scams.
4. Don’t bother with free form amino acids
5. If you want to gain muscle always combine
CARBS with protein
6. If you want to lose weight always combine
carbs with protein
7. Avoid caffeine
