Why do we wear Poppies?
• November is the time of year whenwe wear a red poppy in memory ofthose who sacrificed their lives forus during wars.
Why November?
• The eleventh hour of the eleventhday of the eleventh month marksthe signing of the Armistice, on11th November 1918, to signal theend of World War One.
Why did Poppies become asymbol of Remembrance?
During the 1st World War, Flanders in Belgium saw someof the worst fighting and devastation. Everything wasdestroyed. All homes, trees, plants and life simplydisappeared.
The only thing to remind the soldiers of LIFE was theflowering poppy. It’s seeds like to grow in bad soil. Thebeautiful red flowers brought hope and colour to those stillfighting.
