Finally! I nally reformaed this thing and began
turning PCC into a beer magazine. I must say, Im
very happy with the results.
Weve actually got arcles now! Admiedly theres
only two so far, theres now room to expand!
I didnt organise a cover this me (too lazy).
So I used an art piece by the featured arst I inter -
viewed. Thats right, we have an interview arcle
now! Id like to hear your feedback on whether or
not we should keep the cover girl Phonia or just use
group submied fan art. What do you think?
McQuarrie was 82 years old when he passed away
at his quiet home in Berkeley, California, with his
loving wife at his side.
The iconic illustrator is most well known for
designing the look for some of the Star Wars Sagas
biggest and best-known creaons and characters,
including Darth Vader, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and
C-3PO, and also imagined many of the now, legendary sets pieces and exoc worlds for the
beloved space adventure franchise.
McQuarrie also went on to created the breathtaking
alien spaceships in Steven Spielbergs sci
masterpiece, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. As
well as worked again with the director once more on
the instant classic E.T. He nally won an Academy
Award in 1985 for Visual Eects for the hit sci lm
Cocoon.
Lucas, who gave McQuarrie an un credited role
in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, has hailed
his dear friend a nd collaborator, as an absolute
visionary and talent of the 20th & 21th Century.
He says, Ralph McQuarrie was the rst person
I hired to help me envision Star Wars. His genial
contribuon, in the form of unequaled producon
painngs, propelled and inspired all of the cast and
crew of the original Star Wars trilogy.
When words could not convey my ideas, I could
always point to one of Ralphs fabulous illustraons
and say, Do it like this.We will all be b eneng from his oeuvre for
generaons to come. Beyond that, I will always
remember him as a kind and paent, and
wonderfully talented, friend and collaborator.
Certainly wonderful words, his spirit, manor and
contribuon to the world of moon picture and
cinema will live on for many, many yrs to come.

Interview with Chris FultonA.K.A. Covens-OzFor PCCs rst interview ever, I was lucky enough to get a few words in with Chris Fulton
or Covens-Oz, as hes known on Deviant Art. A regular contributor to PCC and true pro-
fessional, Fultons art is hard hing and eye popping. I spoke to the man himself about
what inuences this heavy metal artsist.
PCC: What rst got you into Art?
Fulton: I was born this way, lol! All the way back
to my earliest memories i was drawing. One day i
picked up a pencil and never put it down.
PCC: Who are your favourite arsts and how have
they inuenced you?
Fulton: Barry W. Smith, Frank Frazea, James Obarr.
Barrys weapon-x story blew my mind as a child and
set a bar for me that im sll trying to reach.
Franks work is what sculpted my imaginaon as a
child the man was true master. When i imagined
fantasy it was Franks work moving around in my
head.
James Crow showed me how to translate emoon
into artwork. He was telling a story about a tragic
loss he suered as a young man. His pain and
sorrow bleeds through the ink, page by page.
PCC: How would you characterise your work?
Fulton: I really have no idea lol everyone calls it
comic book.
PCC: Your artwork has a bad ass, heavy metal,
horror vibe to it. What fuels this aggressive art
style?
Fulton: Heavy metal music and the horror genre are
two of my greatest passions in l ife, but my greatest
passion has to be art so when i work i put my heart
soul into it so i guess the metal and horror in me
comes out in the art. If you own a piece of my art
you can about bet there was metal on when i drew
it!
PCC: I personally admire your alien and Predator
work. What was your rst experience with these
movies and how did that aect you and your work?
Fulton: That one is my moms fault shes a huge
horror fan and she loves the Xenos i remember
watching Aliens with her when i was in elementary
school and being scared to death which made
me want to draw them. When i was 8 i watched
Predator on HBO by myself and fell in love with it.
PCC: Theres also a lot of Venom pics on your DA
page. What makes Venom so awesome?
Fulton: Venom is the man. Hes sleek and nasty;
the teeth, the tongue, come on! What a visual
explosion! I love drawing him and fans beg me too,
as long as the people keep asking for him ill keep
him coming!
PCC: Your prole says you live in Texas. Did you grow
up there? Do you think living in Texas has an eect
on your artwork?

Fulton: Yep, lived in Texas my whole life. Where I
grew up there is no art scene. I had to travel into
Dallas as a teenager to nally get my ll. So im
gonna say, not really or id be drawing cowboys and
Indians, lol!
PCC: Is there any arsts you know or work with that
youd like to reccomend?
Fulton: I know too many arsts, lol!
Cory Smith is a god among insects you should def
check him out his DA page is under:

PCC: Do you have any upcoming projects you would
like people to know about?
Fulton: Right now im working with Dynamite on
two sets of trading cards i cant say much, but if you
like vampires or red heads keep your eyes peeled.
