AN OUTSIDER’S INSIGHT
Pace of change
We are experience life at the pace of Moore’s law, a concept coined by Gordon E. Moore, Intel co‐founder, who identified in 1965 that the number of transistors that could be fitted on a microchip would double every 24 months. This has seen technology innovate at a rate that has meant that effectively every two years the previous technology has become obsolete. As we now depend on technology for so much it means that the rate at which we are updating our technology is being driven not by need but by capability.
