Overview…...
It is with great pride that we offer this, our seventh year of OPR Teen Travel Camp.
After talking with other towns, it seems that this has become the trend for our older
campers. They like going off on different adventures each day, and they like having a day
or two off from camp each week. In the end, we got great reviews for this camp these
last six years. The kids are having a ball! Most of the parents feel like their kids have
had more fun in this travel camp than they ever had in the “same old” format. For the
kids who will have just completed 5th grade in June, we offer the choice—they may want
to go to the regular Summer camp at Colonial Tavern, or to this camp. But please give
thought to your choice. Once they are signed up for one, they cannot switch to the other.
They can, however sign up for some weeks in one—and some weeks in the other, provided
that it’s all done by the final registration dates and that there’s still room in the travel
camp. Deadline to register at the premium rate ($140 per week) is June 1st. For an addi-
tional late fee of *$25 a week ,we will continue to accept registrations for each week up
until one week before the start date you want PROVIDED there is still room. Each week
we are limited to 44 kids, so it’s best to register early to guarantee your child’s spot and
to get the best rate.
OPR TeenTravel Camp is a great way for your child to experience the social aspects
of summer camp, while also enjoying the controlled freedom of traveling with friends and
counselors to fun and exciting places three days each week. Like one of our campers said,
“It’s like going on vacation every day!”. Each Thursday, we will have a pool party at Colonial
Tavern, complete with a DJ spinning the fun tunes and an outdoor barbeque lunch. Fri-
days, the kids can sleep in as there’s NO CAMP! Woo Hoo! A three day
weekend! This program is available only to our Oxford kids (sorry, no out
of town cousins or friends) who have completed 5th through 8th grades.
** 5th Graders have the option of going to this travel camp OR to the
classic Parks and Rec Summer Camp. *Camp runs, rain or shine.
Our staff is made up of some high school students, many college students and a few who
are beyond even that! Most years, we only have to hire a few new counselors
as most of the same group returns year after year. Our Camp Director,
Jamie Yak and our Aquatics Director, Krista-Leigh—have been with us for
more than 15 years each! Our two site directors have been with us for close
to ten years each. Each year, we renew our staff’s trainings in CPR and First
Aid. All of our lifeguards maintain current certifications and experience as
well.
Pricing:
$140 per week per camper. *Week 1 Camp $105 (3 day camp)
All 6 weeks—$775. **After June 1st—add $25 per registrant per week
Before care is available at Posypanko Park from 7:30-9:00am for $20 per
week. You must pay for the whole week. *Week 1 Before Care $15 (3 day camp)
Sorry, there are no sibling discounts available for this program.
All registrants will be given a T-Shirt that they must wear on most trips. The shirt is
used to identify that they are part of our group.
Dropoff and pick up is at Posypanko Park on trip days (M-W) and Colonial Tavern on Thursdays
