Campus Party TechFest Comes to Detroit and TCF CenterCampus Party is the largest innovation and
creativity experience in the world. With 83
editions in 15 countries and more than 3
million participants around the world, it is
transforming the future.
"This event coming to TCF Center this August
will be an opportunity for Detroit to become a
global technology hub." said Claude Molinari,
general manager TCF Center/ASM Global. "It
will also be our venue's chance to prove to
the world that our technology services are
world class."
For 3 days and 2 nights, 24 hours of multidis-
ciplinary activities in which students, communities, geeks, millennials, professionals, skill improve-
ment seekers and institutions will meet to build the future using technology as a tool to change the
world – consciously and responsibly. Participants will not only create, design and learn but interact
with thousands of talents in new technologies and co-work with the Detroit community.
New Mural Brightens TCF Center Wall Near People MoverIf you are entering the building from
the 5th floor entrance from TCF Center's
Rooftop Parking Lot, you may have
the pleasure of seeing Detroit artist
Lowell Boileau working on his mural.
"Inbound/Outbound Detroit" connects
visitors with the local car culture.
Lowell is a self-learned painter and
internet media artist whose works can
be seen all in exhibitions all over the Metro Detroit area, in places like the Detroit Culture Club,
Farmington Hills City Hall, the Detroit Artist Market. He also exhibits in Chicago and Germany. He
developed the novel Primary Color Micropointillist painting technique along with fellow artist Stephen
Goodfellow that results in uniquely luminescent and richly colorful paintings by using only the three
primary colors of yellow, red and blue.
Growing hazards to international travel and events has spurred
security enhancements at TCF Center to reduce today's risks. A recent
reorganization of security services will assure customers and visi-
tors the most advanced and extensive protocols designed to keep
events safe.
“TCF Center security is constantly working with local, state, federal
and international law enforcement agencies to provide safe and
peaceful opportunities for events and visitors in the venue,” said
Claude Molinari, general manager TCF Center/ASM Global. “From the
Coast Guard and Customs and Border Patrol protecting our Canadian
border, to the Detroit Police Department and every agency in
between that contributes to surveillance and response, our venue’s
event security is comprehensive.”
To improve the organization of the TCF Center security operations,
several aspects of the department have been enhanced and reorga-
nized. In-house security staff scheduling has been expanded to three
shifts, each with supervisors dedicated to specific events and build-
ing security outposts. A new dispatch command center staffed with
TCF Center security officers seven days a week, 365 a year has been
created and the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system expanded.
According to Molinari, “We operate a staffed, live-monitored com-
mand center 24/7, and we are now able to see almost everything
happening around our 55-acre property. If we miss something, we
can quickly review recorded video. The new system is quite com-
prehensive.”

What's In Sight Must Be Right
Kudos to Gary Luchenbill, event tech, who worked hard over
the last few months updating the Joe Louis glove display on the
concourse. The display now brilliantly showcases the bronze
cast sculpture of the boxing glove that delivered the Brown
Bomber's knock out punch to Max Schmeling winning Louis
international acclaim. Thanks Gary!
Thanks to everyone in housekeeping who helped organize
waste materials for our waste audit by Iris Waste Management
on February 19. The audit is a critical part of our sustainability
certifications and we could not have done it without you! Job
well done!
Thanks to Spencer O'Neal and his team for the quick ballroom
turn around for NOI. Amazing job!
