1979 The Freihofer’s Run for Life debuts as the 10K (AAU) National Championship. Race draws 503 registrants. The 10K Championship designation is continued through 1988.

1982-2017 George Regan named event director1984 Betty Springs wins her first 10K (AAU) National Championship at FRW

1997 Ruth Wysocki, 40, sets 5K masters world record (16:06)

In 1979, the Freihofer's Run for Women was first held in Albany, N.Y. to foster the growth and recognition of women in sports and inspire all generations of women to experience the benefits of exercise and good nutrition. These are key moments in its history:
