Behavior Plan
In our classroom there will be a move up and a move down chart. These charts will be separate.
Each day is a new day and every student will begin on GREEN for EACH chart.
Behavior Plan (Move Up)
Move Up Chart (used for good choices)
1st move up- class recognition (change from green to purple)
2nd move up- 2 tickets (purple to white) 3rd move up- 3 tickets (white to orange)
Reward
At the end of the day the student who holds the job title of “ticket master” will pass out tickets to those students who ended the day on white (2 tickets) or orange (3 tickets)
Students will write name on tickets and place tickets in ticket box
Tickets will be drawn at the end of each week to choose from prize box

2nd move down- fill out reflection sheet (yellow to red)
3rd move down- visit to see Mrs. Bokelman and a call home (red to blue)

Choices causing students to move down colors:
Being disrespectful (talking back, teasing, etc.)
Talking out with raising their hand repeatedly
Being disruptive to rest of class

Reasons for an immediate office visit:
Stealing
Continued disruptive behavior that affects learning of others
Any hands-on behavior (hitting, pushing, kicking, etc)
*Grandview has a zero tolerance for hands-on behavior. This may result in a written referral or even suspension.
Curriculum3rd grade’s curriculum:
Success for All Reading Program Math Writing Science Social Studies Music and PE
Reading (SFA)
Students will work in cooperative teams each week. Each team will work together to complete vocabulary, listening comprehension, read with partner, read by self, and answering comprehension questions pertaining to the day’s reading.
Read and Response
Each night students are expected to read a book of their choice for AT LEAST 20 minutes
Following reading, the students will complete a 3 part reading response in their journals
Failure to complete reading homework MIGHT result in an automatic move down the following morning.
MathThe 3rd grade math curriculum will cover number and operations, multiplication and division, algebraic thinking, fractions, geometry, and measurement.
Each day’s math lesson will include; number talks, previous day’s review, mini lesson, hands on task to practice the day’s lesson, and an exit slip.
Math homework will be assigned periodically throughout week, but NOT DAILY
Writing
Students will follow the writing curriculum created by Lucy Calkins.
This writing program will cover units of study in narrative, informative, and opinion writing.
Each writing lesson will include a mini lesson, student time to write on topic of their choice, student-teacher conferencing, and sharing out.
Science and Social Studies
We will spend the FIRST half of EACH quarter on social studies lessons focused on different aspects of communities.
We will spend the SECOND half of EACH quarter on science lessons focused on life science, earth science, or physical science.
Music and PE
Grandview will be on an every other day schedule for music and PE this school year
Please make sure students have tennis shoes for PE class at school on the correct days.
Gator Folders
Each student will be given a folder to use for homework and parent/teacher communication
Please check this each night and send back to school each morning
Assignment Book
Every night students will bring home a planner with assignments. This planner must be initialed by a parent or guardian EVERY night to be returned to school the following day.

A newsletter will be sent home each month with upcoming events, important dates, school updates, etc
Student folders will be used for notes between myself and parents
Teacher and Parent Communication
I will be using the Smart Phone App “Remind 101” to establish another form of communication between parents and myself
This app will be used to send a text message home to parents’ cell phone to offer a reminder about upcoming events, due dates, etc.

If you decide you wish to purchase a book, please make check out to book company or Mrs. Boettcher
Book order forms will be due at the end of the month. The due date will be specified each month.
About Me
I was born and raised in Illinois
I graduated from Illinois State University in 2009 with a degree in Public Relations and Psychology
I earned my teaching license in 2013 from Edgewood College in Madison, WI
This is my 2nd year teaching 3rd grade at Grandview Elementary
