“Developing Local Agricultural Productivity for Food and
Economic Security”
Project Background
This project is a continuity of the CAPACITY BUILDING initiatives towards enhancing the capability of the LGU’s and other stakeholders/players to effectively deliver the most needed EXTENSION and other support services geared towards the promotion of the local economy which is vital in alleviating poverty in region.
Project Objectives• General:
– To promote sustainable local agriculture development that will help generate employment, livelihood opportunities, and increase household incomes.
• Specific– Promote sustainable agriculture by demonstrating LGU
capacities to manage and replicate agri-extension service delivery
– Strengthen executive and multi-stakeholder mechanism
– Undertake municipal agriculture profiling– Assist LGU’s in formulating their respective plan
LAD Plan: Component Steps• Revisit the Municipal Development Plans/Municipal Agricultural
Development Plans• Formulate/update the LAD with strong emphasis on the business and
marketing aspects ensuring the presence of the ff:– Municipal Agricultural Profile– Municipal Agricultural Strategic Directions– Identified programs and projects– Five-Year Agricultural Development Investment Plan– Resource Mobilization Plan– Monitoring and Evaluation
• Plan Validation and legitimization• Plan presentation to resource institutions• Inclusion in the LGU’s Annual Operations and Investment Plans
Project Phase II• Enhancing LGU’s extension service delivery
