LIGHT BOXES How to make simple light boxes for classroom use
Materials
20” x 30” foam core
Ruler
Pencil
Velcro
Scissors
Razor Blade
Duct Tape
Grid Your Foam Core
Using a ruler and pencil, grid the foam core into 10” squares
Cut a Zig-Zag
Using your razor blade, cut the foam core into two pieces along the zig-zag
Score Along the Lines
Use your razor blade to cut part-way on the remaining lines, scoring the foam core but not cutting all the way through.
Fold the Foam Core Fold the foam core along the scored edges.
Tape the Hinges
Place a piece of duct tape over each of the scored hinges.

Add VelcroRemove backing from and place a small piece of Velcro on each side towards the top of the box.
Connect with Other Half of Velcro
Use a longer piece of the matching Velcro to latch the two sides of the box together. Do NOT remove the backing.
Add Clip-Light
The one below is from the local dollar store, and they work fine for classroom use. Higher quality book lights are also available from various retailers.
Add Objects
The white buckets were also found at the local dollar store. Ping pong balls can be purchased in bulk cheaply.
