History Lake Victoria was formed around 400,000 years ago
from west flowing rocks that dammed up a river making a lake.
The lakes shallowness is due to the climate changes that it has faced
Cores that scientists have pulled up tell them that Lake Victoria has dried up 3 times since existence. The most recent was about 17,300 years ago.
The First recorded history of Lake Victoria comes from Arab Traders searching for Gold, Ivory and Slaves
The first map recorded was made around 1160 called Al Adrisi
History Lake Victoria is also referred to as Victoria
Nyanza (Lake Victoria) Also sometimes called Ukerewe like the lakes
biggest island. The lake was first sighted on an English
exploration to central Africa led by John Speke. Speke named the lake after Queen Victoria
Though Speke found Lake Victoria it wasn’t recorded until American Explorer Henry Stanley found it some years later.
Speke found out that it was the reservoir for the Nile.
Operation Entebbe On the 27 of June, 1976, Air France Flight 139 took off
from Athens on its way to Paris when two Palestinians from a radical group out of the “PLO” and two German Terrorists took over the plane .
The terrorists turned the plane around to Benghazi, Libya for a pit stop and then strait on though to Entebbe Airport, Uganda
When the Terrorists reached Entebbe Airport they took the 248 hostages and the 12 crew members to the abandoned wing of the terminal 2.7 kilometers away from the regular terminal.
The Terrorists split up the passengers into two groups, Jews and Gentiles. The hostages let all the Gentiles go and made the Israeli and French Jews hostages.
There were 103 Jewish hostages remaining.
The Raid/ Operation Thunderbolt The Israeli Government got a tip that the
plane was in Uganda so on July 1, 1996, the secret Israeli commando group (that Mr. Nozick was a part of) started to come up with a plan to take down the Terrorists

The Battle The teams of three go in through the door and free all
the hostages and kill all the terrorists The group outside the building distracting the guards
shoots down all the guards outside but they are having trouble with the guard tower. So instead of shooting, Gen. Dan Shomron orders for RPG’s to be fired at the tower
When the hostages are escorted out the Israelis shoot down 11 of the Ugandans fighter planes that were un-manned on the ground with machine guns and RPG’s
Throughout the raid only three hostages died from the Israeli Commando firing and Lieutenant Colonel Yonatan Netanyahu who was sniped out from the control tower
