hands the majority present chose the horse park. The date will
be set for the weekend after Easter, April 11th. Felecia Jones

KVTA needs to support the KVMA meeting as well. She
thanked Dean Ann Provine and Barbie Papajeski for securing
speakers for this year’s events and asked for ideas and help in
securing future speakers.
KVMA Updates:
Barb Lewis reported that the KVMA will be working on a

There will also be some language revisions on veterinary as-

Meet Your New 2015 President-Todd Kuvin, LVT
I have worked in the veterinary field for 11 years. This includes general practice, Emergency/
Specialty, and in education. ER/Critical care is my favorite area of the veterinary field and an area I
still enjoy learning about. I currently oversee the Clinical Sites used for our internship program at
BMC. This has also opened my eyes
to the business and management side
of veterinary medicine. It solidifies
how important continuing education
and professionalism are in our field. I
love the veterinary field and see op-
portunities for veterinary technicians
getting better and better as time goes
by. When I am not working or volun-
teering with Alleycat Advocates, I
enjoy time with my wife, 2 daughters,
a boxer, and 2 cats.
Emily has worked in the field for 20 years with experience ranging from
animal shelters, emergency medicine, wildlife rehabilitation, to education
(and everything in between). She obtained her license in 1998 after grad-
uating from Murray State University. Her passion for the homeless/ un-
derserved animals and finding humane solutions for these populations as
well as their people led her to obtain a Masters of Public Administration
with the focus area in non-profits. She served as the Director of a large
nonprofit spay/ neuter clinic that alters 11-12,000 animals annually. Cur-
rently, she teaches in the Veterinary Technology Department at Brown
Mackie College- Louisville, instilling her students with the same passion
she has for the field. Emily resides in Louisville, KY on a mini-farm she
shares with 4 dogs, 2 cats, 3 goats, a sheep, a pig (that sleeps inside),
chickens, and a turkey
Meet Your New 2015 Treasurer —Emily Clement, MPA, LVT
I have always had a love for animals. After growing up with several
pets ranging from guinea pigs to donkeys, I pursued my dream and
become a licensed veterinary technologist. I have worked in the
veterinary field for 8 years. I obtained my license in 2009 after
graduating from Murray State University with a B.S. degree in ani-
mal health technology and minor in equine science. I am a LVT
instructor and currently teach veterinary lab procedures, parasitolo-
gy and clinical laboratory techniques at Owensboro Community
and Technical College. I love teaching and hope to pass on my pas-
sion for this rewarding profession to my students. I am very excited
and look forward to this year as your KVTA Vice President. In my
spare time I love to spend time with husband, daughter, 3 horses,
miniature donkey, miniature horse, 7 cats, and 2 dogs.
