Adult Classes Quilting Cross Pocket Bag - 1 day Need a new summer bag to spice up your wardrobe? Three co-ordinating fabrics, plus an accent, topped off with a special button are combined to create this beautiful and useful accessory . Beginner Wheel 4 sessions Basic Introduction to wheel throwing-learn the an-cient art of throwing pottery on a potters wheel. Class limit is 5. Instructor: Sue Rayner Date: July 5, 12, 19 & 26 Time: 1- 4 pm Fee: $60.00 members $100.00 non members Material Fee: Clay and firing extra Hand-Building with René This projects is a design process starting with initial idea sketches, choosing and laying out, appropriate templates and methods. Personal skills and inspira-tion will be encouraged and be captured on paper before becoming clay. Our ultimate goal is to make an outstanding Functional Pot. Adult Classes Fine Arts Watercolour: “Making A Splash” 1This painting almost paints itself! Start with a big splash of clear water, add a generous infusion of bold colours, tilt, tip and watch what happens. Your imagination will guide you to the reveal: trees, rivers, birds, flowers, figures. Brush line, and colour lifting complete the picture. Beginners welcome. Instructor: Linda Trowell Dates: Wed. August 6 Time: 9:30 am - 3:30 pm Fee: $30 members/$60 non Abstract Work-shop This workshop will be your opportunity to learn a bit about abstract art but more importantly, get your hands dirty and have some fun. I will talk briefly about my own abstract work as well as a few artist that have inspired me. I will give a number of demonstrations and try and answer all your questions. It is my goal that everyone will walk away with a greater appreciation for ab-stract work, the tools and the endless possibili-ties of paint. My teaching method is very relaxed and hands on. There is no specific supply list but I would encourage you to bring whatever paint and canvas size you are most comfortable with. Adult Classes Quilting Summer Quilt - Disappearing Pin-Wheel Starting with two squares of fabric, simple sew-ing and a few magic cuts - 'Voila!' You will have a light and airy pin-wheel, floating in a frame. Instruction sheets will be available and there will be a demonstra-tion of the technique. Bring your sewing ma-chine and make one block and then take this information and join the Open Studio Sessions on Mondays or Thursdays to make your Summer Quilt. 4 x 4 Adventure - Scrap Attack The 16 patch block is a simple way to whittle down those bins of scraps and strips and there are many ways to turn these units into interest-ing and attractive quilts. Embark on this "Summer '4 x 4' Adventure", by making up the blocks, using random scraps or planned check-erboards then choose one of the 'trail maps' to lead you to a beautiful quilt layout! Lots of ideas & great possibilities!! Introduction: Thursday, July 17 at 9:30 am or 7 pm Sign-up Fee: $10.00 members $20 non- members (includes 'maps' for layouts)

Children’s Classes Kinesthetic Art Is your child tired of sitting still after a year of school? This program encourages movement of body and medium, to create abstract composi-tions. We will be exploring various techniques and me-diums to create unique expressions of kines-thetic art. Instructor: Janice Millard Ages: 6 - 10 years old Date: July 1st-July 4th Time: 10 am - 12 noon Fee: $85.00 Line, Design & Patterning A more advanced & disciplined look at using B&W techniques to bring depth and perspective to a focused mind. We will explore composition, perspective, shading, tessellations and repeat-ing patterns. Instructor: Janice Millard Ages: 10 - 15 years old Date: July 7th—11th Time:10 am - 12 noon Fee: $100.00 Multi Media Using digital imagery and stock images, stu-dents will explore their imagination in creating new forms and designs.
