How to produce /sh/ and /ch/ To say /sh/: Point the tongue tip up toward the gum ridge, with the top and bottom teeth together. Round the lips and gently release air over the tongue, making the Quiet……. Don’t wake the baby sound: “SHHHHHHH.”

To say /ch/: Use the same mouth formation, but press the tongue hard against the gum ridge, and release air suddenly as if you are going sneeze. We often refer to this sound as the locomotive, or train sound: “CH-CH-CH, CH-CH-CH”
