HIGHLAND LAKES COMMITTEE REPORT
COMMITTEE: Vision MEETING DATE: November 17, 2009
MEMBERS PRESENT:Rob Berlin, Chair Joyce ElvyJudy Nakdimen, Vice Chair John LaMarca
Kathy Baldwin, Board Liaison Maureen OsieckiIlio Alessandri Liette PaiementJudi Alessandri Marti PetersRobert Armstrong Don RigoDenise D’Amico Myra SantoniRalph Downey Brad Todorov
ITEMS DISCUSSED:1. Rob Berlin reviewed the work of the Sign Subcommittee. Three manufacturers were inter-viewed. Working with the manufacturers will keep the price for the signs as low as possible. There does not appear to be a manufacturer in Michigan. The three manufacturers inter-viewed were:
Brandon Industries - TexasEagle Sign - KentuckyMetal Craft - Florida
A great deal of information was obtained from these discussions regarding sign materials, reflective paint, pole height and payment schedules. The companies will provide shop draw-ings for each sign. With the information obtained a comprehensive RFP was completed. TheRFP will be presented to Joe Poma for review and then mailed to the manufacturers. It wassuggested that extra poles be purchased in case of damage. The information will be sharedwith the Committee at the January meeting. The Committee will make a recommendation tothe Board.
2. Rob Berlin restated the Board’s Motion of August 17, “...to establish a standing committeeto execute the Vision concept. Members of the previous Ad Hoc Committee will automaticallybecome voting members and the Committee must come up with a name, establish By-Laws,and organize in a way that they can make recommendations to the Board in a manner thatallows for Co-Owner input.” Those in attendance were asked to comment on the Committee’sprogress on the Board’s Directive. There was a discussion about the need for improvementsto our property and the signage will make a difference visually.
The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE BOARD: There were no recommendations to the Board.
NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, January 26, 2010, 6:00 p.m.

XI. Insurance for Tenant Who Rents From Owner of Condominium:Tenant should purchase a Tenant Homeowner’s policy. Coverages are similar as de-scribed above for Co-Owners with the following exception - the tenant does not haveLoss Assessment exposure.
XII. Smoke, Heat Detectors and Fire Extinguishers:We strongly recommend for your protection that battery-operated or wired smoke detec-tors be installed if you do not have them. More people are killed in fire by poisonous
smoke than by heat or flame. These detectors react to smoke and heat and will soundan alarm. These units are easy to install and should be placed on each floor. Theyshould carry the UL label.
For fire extinguishers, we recommend the ABC type fire extinguisher which can be usedfor trash, wood, paper, liquids, grease and electrical.
We also recommend that you consider purchasing a steel escape ladder for the two-story units. It should be kept on the upper level.
XIII. Carbon Monoxide Detectors:We recommend that you purchase battery-operated or plug-in type carbon monoxidedetectors. It is also recommended that you purchase UL approved units.

MENS’ CLUB 2009 ANNUAL FISH FRY
On Tuesday, November 17, 2009, the Men’s’ Club(now known as the OFFF) held their Annual FishFry. Art Baynes caught and prepared the fish, allagreed there’s nothing like fresh fish. Everyonebrought a dish to pass so there was plenty of goodfood. Art was busy in the kitchen, as you can seein the photo on the right, so an amateur photogra-pher took the photos (as you can tell by the pic-tures). The OFs (you’ll have to ask Art about the
meaning of that one) enjoyed the food and wine aswell as getting together to “shoot the bull”.
