HIP / MITES SUBMITTED BY: ANNE JOHNSON
The Mites had a great end to the hockey season! The Blues took part
in a "Rink Rat" jamboree in Waupaca that had teams from western
Wisconsin that we would not normally play. They made a terrific
showing and (I think!) had a great time! The Reds finished their
season with the Antigo tournament and had a great showing there!
They skated hard on the ice and played hard at the hotel! All of
the Mites had an awesome year and I hope had a great time. We look
forward to seeing them all back next year and good luck to all the
Mites that will be moving up to Squirts!
SQUIRT A SUBMITTED BY: TIFFANY WECKWERTH
It’s hard to believe that another season is in the books. The
Squirt A’s really came together as a team this year and
although we didn’t have a lot of wins, we really learned a
lot and improved our skills. We all had a lot of fun in our
last tournament in Wisconsin Rapids in February - these
overnight travel weekends really bring everyone together
and turn us into a hockey “family”. We ended the season
with a Parents vs Kids game at De Pere on Wednesday,
March 9. The kids edged out the adults and won by one
point - at times it was pure pandemonium on the ice! After
the game, we filled up at Gallagher’s Pizza where Coach Joel
handed out certificates to all the players and the kids
handed out plaques to the coaches - even the Team Mom
got something special! I’ll end this with a quote I love…see
you next season!
teammates, friends are more than friends. Brothers.
Sisters. A community. It gives us the opportunity to
turn a frozen pond into memories. A road
tournament into a family getaway. It’s a tradition.
It’s a pastime. It is our life.” ~ unknown

SQUIRT B
SUBMITTED BY: CHRIS BENO
What a wonderful season for the Squirt B team! We surely had our
successes and a few struggles along the way, but the kids grew as a
team and as individuals. Each and every player developed their
skills throughout the season and became more complete hockey
players. It was a great group of kids, all of them gaining
friendships that will last a long time. The parent group was
fantastic too! We all got along so well and had a lot of fun
together.
Thank you so much to our coaches: Shane Dickson, Ben Allen and
Spencer Bonnie, and our team manager: Jennifer Allen. Thank you to
the Squirt A coaches for help and insight during practices
throughout the season. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at
the camps this summer and hope all of our families have a wonderful
and prosperous summer! Thank you everyone! You are Awesome!
PEE WEE A SUBMITTED BY: WILLIE BIRKHOLZ
Hello De Pere Youth Hockey Families! We want to first sincerely
'thank you' for allowing your children to learn, to compete and to
grow as hockey players representing the De Pere Voyageurs Youth
Hockey Association.
We, as parents, sacrifice time and energy for six (6) months a year
to give our children a chance to be a part of a team, build
lifelong memories and build relationships that may last a lifetime.
Our Pee Wee A season had many ups and downs, but in the end
something more important than wins and losses presented itself...”a
TEAM above all, above all a TEAM". They became a family!
Our boys grew; learning about each other, respecting each other and
believing in each other. If our season was only a few more
weeks...imagine the possibilities!
Thank you to our coaches JP Coppo, Brett Thom, Kurt Koszarek and
Andy Bartelt for loving the game enough to share it with our
skaters. We appreciate you more than photos, gift cards or words
can represent.
For those of you who remain Pee Wees, keep it going...and those
moving to Bantam, be confident you have been prepared for the next
level! It was an AMAZING season...you raised us up!
Most people wait their whole life to meet their favorite athlete; I
will tell you...you are raising yours!
PEE WEE B SUBMITTED BY: MICHELLE PONOZZO
The PeeWee B’s team had their second tournament the weekend of Feb
19th, all the skaters played hard and really
came together as a team. Watching them play their last games was
exciting as they played as a team and gave their
opponents a run for their money. We would like to thank all of our
coaches, Coach Auguston, Coach Richards, Coach
Thompson, and Coach Nusbaum for all their hard work and dedication
to our team. All of our coaches worked very
hard to help all the skaters out there and I know all of them
appreciated all the time they put in. We had a four
skaters earn patches this year, Hat Ticks to Greggie Ponozzo,
Culley Thom, and Preston Bues and a Play Maker for
Billy Nusbaum, Way to go. All of our skaters played hard this year,
way to go AJ Butrymowicz, Dalton Trudell,
Preston Bues, Mitchell Auguston, Jackson Boehm, Greggie Ponozzo,
Camden Nordeen, Sam Thompson, Corey
Richards, Keaton Carter, Billy Nusbaum, Ethan Knaus, Bergen Wagner,
and Culley Thom. Good Luck to all of you next
Season.
BANTAM A SUBMITTED BY: JILL SCHULANDER
What an amazing season! We are so proud of all of our
bantams, especially for making it to state, they played some
tough hockey and ended in 4th place. The weekend prior they
traveled to West Bend for a tournament and brought home the
consolation champs trophy. During our season we had 5
skaters get at least one hat trick a piece, 3 of the 5 had
multiples. Those skaters are Charlie Eggers, KP Hillesheim,
Mason Paul, Josh Brud and Dylan Shulander. We also had 3
skaters earn playmakers.... David Vandenberg, Mason Paul and
Dylan Shulander. Jay Wenger earned multiple shut outs, to
earn his zero patch. We ended our season with a 25-13-3
record, scoring 161 goals and earning 125 assists. These boys
know how to play some hockey! The last day of our season was
tough, as we had to wish Quinn Carter and his family good
luck
on their new adventures, good byes are never easy! One last
shout out to our coaches! Where would we be without all of
their time and dedication? Alex, Jeff and David.....thank you
from all of the parents and skaters, for a super year. We
appreciate everything you have done! See you all in October!
