Assets and GuidelinesGSMA Event Brands
2019.08
The Event Brand describes the set of standardised elements that are combined to create a cohesive look, tone and feel across all event communications and experiences.
Brand assets are locked-up and do not change year-to-year.
The Event Theme is the focus of our event’s offerings for the calendar year. Each year, a new set of assets are created specifically to support that theme.
Theme assets support – and do not replace - the brand assets.

• You do not always have to include the day-of-week or the year;their inclusion depends on the context
Notes (Times):Always use a colon between minutes and hoursAlways insert 'space-hyphen-space' between times to indicate a rangeWhen using AM/PM, always use capital letters and no periods
Common Signage Notes
Location Format • Sequence runs smaller to larger location. Include 'space-comma-space' between locations, or separate onto two lines depending oncontext. 'Auditorium' can always be shortened to 'Aud' if space requires.
• If signage piece is in the same venue as the event, do not include the venue name. If signage is in different venue than event, include full venue info. Use common sense for content: if signage is only being displayed on one day, no need to include day/date info. Consider context to decided if time/date/location are needed.
• Examples: ‘Auditorium 1, Hall 4’; ‘Grand Shanghai Ballroom, Kerry Hotel’; ‘Room 411, Concourse Level 2’
Capitalisation• For session/programme titles always capitalise the first letter of important words (Title Case).
• May only use All Caps in special circumstances for headings (must get Marketing approval).
Sponsor / Partner / Host Attribution
• When paired with logo, attribution must be centred above logo, in all caps, using Gotham Medium font. Do not include a colon at end of line. When using two languages, include attribution only once per piece - with both languages side-by-side.
• If attribution does NOT include logo, simply follow standard style rules, ensuring that the third party is spelled and capitalised correctly. When using two languages in this scenario, you will have two attributions, each grouped with any other items in that language.
• All third-party logos are placed in 2:1 ratio boxes, and must adhere to the sizing tiers approved by the Sales and Marketing teams for that event.

Common Style Notes
Bulleted lists • Start each point with a capital letter but do not use a full stop (period) at the end - not even at the end of the final point. Only use full stops when a bulleted item includes multiple sentences.
Commas
• When you’re listing more than three items, always use the comma before the ‘and’ (‘Do this for A, B, C, D, and E’).
• If there’s an ‘and’ in one of the items you’re listing, always use a comma before the ‘and’ (‘Use a fork and knife when eating apples, bread, chicken and biscuits, and lollipops.’). Most importantly, insert a comma when it helps make things clearer.
• Example: MWC features an exhibition, conference programmes, and networking gardens.
Courtesy titles • For UK English do not add full stops to the end of courtesy titles (Mr, Mrs, Dr). Include full stops when using US English (Mr., Mrs., Dr.)
Currency • US Dollars = $250 USD ; Euros = 250€; Yen = ¥250; British Pounds = £250
Measurements • Use lower case for standard measurements: kg; km; lb; mph. Spell out ‘metres’ to prevent confusion with abbreviation for million (M). Do not include a space between the number and unit: 20km; 50kph; Never add an ‘s’: 20km, not 20kms.
Numbers
• Spell out all numerals at the beginning of a sentence. Spell out whole numbers from zero to nine and use figures for 10 and above. Numbers between twenty-one and ninety-nine written in words should be hyphenated. Numbers larger than three figures require a comma: 1,000; 20,500. Never use ‘over’ or ‘under’ when referring to a number. Use ‘more than’, ‘less than’, ‘fewer’ or ‘greater’. Ex: One, five, nine, 12, 100, and greater than 3,200.
Web addresses • Never include 'http://' or 'www.' at the beginning of a website/URL reference. Do not include a forward slash at the end, unless also including the name of a sub-page. For example, you would only say mwcbarcelona.com OR mwcbarcelona.com/about
