We have two special opportunities taking place at Covington FUMC:
New Sunday School Class focusing on the Power of Prayer
Have you wanted to deepen your prayer life? Have you thought about
participating in a Sunday school class but have not been sure where to
connect? Here is your opportunity:
The Battle Plan for Prayer, inspired by the movie The War
Room, is an 8-week bible study and will begin with an
introductory session Sunday, February 12th. Lessons
start February 26th. Classes will meet Sunday mornings
from 9:45-10:30 a.m. in the Enjoy classroom on the third
floor of the Education Building. The study will be facilitated
by Tommy & Denise McDow and books may be ordered
from your favorite book distributor or download it to your
tablet or e-reader.
The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
James 5:16b
Special Guest on Sunday, February 19th
Bill Face will be sharing our Sunday morning message at both services.
Bill and his wife Jean attended Covington FUMC from 2000-2013. They
moved to Michigan in 2014 to be closer to their family. While here, Bill
served as Minster of Congregational Care and spent much of his time
visiting many people in the hospital, nursing homes and their homes. He
became a certified lay minister and even taught the lay minister course
afterwards. He was a deeply caring minister who was beloved by the
community, as he spent a lot of time with many who were not part of the
church. He left his imprint, or should I say God’s imprint, on many lives.
We are blessed that while they are back in town Bill and Jean will be with
us on February 19th. Please make your plans to be present.
Peace and Grace,
Wade
P.S. Don’t forget the youth spaghetti luncheon in the Fellowship Hall on
Sunday the 12th after the 11:00 a.m. service. It is going to be good and
supports our youth program. See you there!

NOTE OF THANKS!
An order could not be placed from the MidSouth Food Bank to have food to
distribute at the Covington pantry February 4th. An urgent call was put out via
email and the bountiful blessings that followed was miraculous! Two lovely
ladies donated over 500 pounds of food. School groups, Girl Scouts, local
churches and our FUMC congregation not only met the need but greatly exceeded
it. A big THANK YOU to everyone! God is good! All the time!
