The Excelsior Springs Area Career Center takes pride in the quality and professional classes provided to the emergency services professionals. These evening classes appeal to the adult stu-dents offering instructional class time and hands-on teaching. Small class sizes allow opportunity for skills practice. We work with local and the surrounding areas fire and emergency medical services facilities for clinical and field experiences for our students. Our instruc-tors have experience and most are still working in the profession. C N A students get hands on training at local nursing facilities. Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
Start your medical career as a certified nurse assistant (CNA), and become highly employa-ble in this rapidly growing healthcare field. Taught by a registered nurse and following state requirements, this training program com-bines a minimum of 75 hours of classroom learning and 100 hours of hands-on training in a medical care environment to prepare stu-dents to work closely with patients in long-term care facilities, hospitals, adult day care, and homes. Upon successful completion of this course students are prepared to take the state board examination (written and skills) for licensure as a nurse assistant. Tuition in-cludes textbook. Note: State exam and licens-ing fees, CPR card cost, and background check costs are not included in the tuition fee. Students must be 18 years of age and have a high school degree or equivalency, be legally employable in a long-term care facility, and other enrollment requirements. (22 sessions) Offered spring and fall.

Firefighter I & II Students completing this course meet re-quirements to take the Missouri Division of Fire Safety Fire Fighter I & II certification exams. The program is based on IFTA’s Essentials of Fire Fighting, VI Edition curric-ulum. Students will receive Haz-Mat Opera-tions, Haz-Mat Awareness and Vehicle Res-cue Technician certifications upon success-ful completion of this course.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMTB)
Training is designed to prepare students to apply EMT skills in emergency medical set-tings. Students will complete required class-room and clinical field hours. Those success-fully completing this certification course are eligible to apply for licensure exam with Na-tional Registry of EMT.
Requirements: Student must be 18 years of age, pass entrance exam, have current/clear TB test results, and have a high school diplo-ma or GED.
Note: NREMT exam fee and state licensures are not included in course tuition fee. Tuition: $1050 ($500 non refundable de-posit) Time: 6:00p-10:00p Meets: Mondays/Wednesdays
EMT-Paramedic Program Sponsored by: Excelsior Springs Area Career Center and Liberty Hospital Consortium for Paramedic Education This paramedic course includes classroom, laboratory, clinical and field/internship activities which will total approximately 1300 clock hours. This course meets or exceeds the content and competency demands of the United States Dept. of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Bureau of Medical Services of Missouri. Upon successful completion of this paramedic course, students will be eligible to test with National Registry of EMT (NREMT) for licensing.
Prerequisites: EMT-Basic license, math and English competency Tuition: $6300 ($1200 non refundable deposit) Meets: Tuesdays and Thursdays 6p-10p and scheduled Saturdays 8p-5p

Emergency Dispatcher
Begin your career in emergency services as an emer-gency dispatcher. Upon successful completion of this 12 week course, students will earn the Basic Telecommuni-cator Certification required in the State of Missouri. Course instruction includes: Introduction to Public Safety Telecommunications, Liability Concerns for Dispatchers, MULES, Introduction to Crisis Intervention Training, Handling Suicidal Callers, Introduction to Police, Fire and EMS Dispatching, Amber Alert, Active Shooter, and much more. Students complete 12 hours of ride-alongs with law enforcement and 24 hours of sit-ins at area dis-patch centers. Additionally, students will practice inter-viewing skills for oral board interviews and learn about the hiring process for dispatchers. (22 / 3-hour sessions)
