• File Logs – Logs that are written to a text file– Data Processing
– Individual Error Files
• System Logs – Logs that are stored in the FDM database– Many FDM actions are given a Log Key and thus logged in the tLogActivity table in the FDM database

• There are two types of File Logs– Data Processing
• Show archive information from an import
• Open processing log from import
• Open the source document
• View the .Dat file that was loaded to the target system
– Error Information• Show detail of all system errors generated by the user
• Each user has their own .err file

• All File Logs will reference files that are stored in FDM’s Folder structure on the FDM Application Server
• You can access these logs by finding the files in the folders or through the FDM web interface

• To access the Import file logs through the FDM Web, left‐click an amount on the Import Screen

– Show Archive Information – this shows some details about the Import
– Open Source Document – Does just that, opens a copy of the source file that was last imported
– Open Processing Log – This shows info such as rows processed, rows skipped, processing time, etc.

• To access the Export file log through the FDM Web, you can select the “View File” from either the Validate or Export Screen
• This is the .dat file that is being exported to the Target System

• Every time an error occurs and is displayed in the FDM Information bar, the error is logged in the user.err file
• The error logs contain more detail than you would see in the FDM Information Bar
• Many errors have multiple entries in the error log that provide additional details on the error

• To access the Error Log for the user logged into the FDM Web you can go to Tools View Error Log
• To access the error logs for all users, they are stored in the Outbox\Logs and are named username.err for each user
• The most recent errors are located at the end of the file

• In addition to the file logs, FDM stores almost every action in a table in the FDM database
• There are several Transactions keys that will log information for specific actions
• To view these logs, go to Analysis Log and select your transaction from the dropdown

• There are many Transaction Keys that are logged and several keys for each grouping
• These are some of the main categories:– Map – Logs Imports, Changes, Copies, etc.
– Import – Logs Text Files, Processing Maps, Deleting data, etc.
– Multi‐Load – Logs Template Check‐in and Import
– Financial Controls – Logs Reviews, Submits, etc.
– Adapter – Logs Target Activities such as Connections, Loads, Consolidations, Calculations, Clearing data, etc.
– Security – Logs Adding users, Changing a user’s settings, etc.

• When viewing the System Logs in the FDM Web, the log entries are specific to the Location in your POV.
• You can see there are multiple periods, categories and users, but only 1 location (POV Location is “PL_ORACLE”)
