Family Culture Collage for the Newcastle Culture & Heritage Festival
Newcastle Families,
The Newcastle Culture and Diversity committee, along with the Newcastle PTSA, are
hosting a Culture & Heritage Festival on February 4th from 6-8 PM. The theme is “Roam
Around the World”. We invite all families to create a Family Culture Collage to be
displayed at and leading up to the Festival. This is a chance to talk about your family’s
heritage and share your cultural pride with our community.
Directions: Very simply, we are asking each family to make a simple one-page collage-style display of images and words
that reflect aspects of their family’s culture, heritage or world experiences.
Steps:
1. Start with any standard sized paper
2. Add images, phrases, descriptions, drawings or anything you want to share
a. Cut and paste on a computer.
b. Use family photos
c. Use Google images
d. Draw, color, make art
Feel free to use the examples below as templates or inspiration (including the Mellish family collage).
3. Return your Family Culture Collage to the teacher at any time but no later than February 2nd. These will be
sent to the office to be included in our displays around the school and at the event. If you do not have a printer
at home, you can email the document to [email protected] to be printed and turned in for you.
