THE EVOLUTION OF INTELLIGENCE
Intelligence, as we understand it, is the ability to comprehend a given set of events, to analyze its results and to use the knowledge gathered to interpret, predict or conceptualize other similar or dissimilar occurrences. Human intelligence has always been directed towards creation. Humans have expressed their intelligence through the creation of new structures and objects. Human creation has now progressed towards replicating the human image, not through reproduction alone but also through scientific wizardry.
Academic Words
These words are samples of words that are being widely used in the academic world.
You will be asked to learn these words, their synonyms and definitions.
Your written exams will have a vocabulary component where you will be asked to either use some of the given words or give their synonyms.
You will find these words in the mini dictionary starting at the back of your coursebook.

NOT a randomly given grade based on teachers intuitions or likes and dislikes.
Punctuality
Students are expected to come to classes ON TIME.
Your teacher has the right to mark you absent if you are late.
Health Reports
Health reports will NOT be accepted to make up for absenteeism.
They are only valid for Midterm and Final Exams.
Materials
All students are expected to come to class fully prepared to take part in the lesson.
This means you should have your course book and a pen/pencil.
Do not forget that your teacher has the right not give you CPG points if you are not prepared to participate.
One final word…
I wish you all the very best in your academic
year.
