In addition to the general information mentioned at i to X above, the institution mayhighlight the following, if it so desired:
History ofthe
Institution
It is no doubt the success of any country, its prosperity and welfare depends on the ideas and skills of itspopulation .These have always been the nation’s most important assets. As the world is becoming
increasingly technological ,the values of these national assets will be determined in no small measure by theeffectiveness of student’s education in India. Since India is still lagging behind in matters of girls’ education,
especially in backward areas , its future will depend on our ability to educate our girls. It was a few years ago, when I had an opportunity to come across a short story of school children in Japan, in which, the schoolchildren, when asked, to whom they would admire most-a unanimous reply was"-Lord Buddha". If lord
Buddha wanted your head, would you give it to him?-reply was-"Yes". But when asked, what would they haddone when Lord Buddha insulted Japan?-a unanimous reply came".-WE WOULD BEHEAD LORD BUDDHA".
Naturally I had an avid interest in the origins and influence of such patriotic sacraments on children at schoollevel, and took every opportunity to delve into evidences of its philosophical and intellectual underpinnings. This gave rise to an idea to establish a shrine of Ability, Knowledge, Education and Truth-SAKET (S=Shrine,A=ability, K=knowledge, E=education, T=truth). Since Pratapgarh was considered to be a backward districtof Uttar Pradesh in the field of education, I found a lot of possibilities to give size and shape to my mission.Like all other missions, an emblem was required, which could communicate the goals of mission “SAKET”.
Sure, nothing better than Sun could have been, whose rays are ever available for everyone’s sake, and whichrises everyday for the sake of goodness of all and sundry. Thus, with an emblem, consisting of Sun, in theheart, the four religious signs representing four main religions – Hindu, Islam, Sikh and Christianity, and apowerful slogan – “Hum Bhi Uadai Ho Roz, Suraj ki Tarah – Doosaron ki Sewa Me” (Let us rise too, like Sun,everyday- in the service of others), Saket Girls Degree college was established, in Pratapgarh city of Uttar
Pradesh, in the month of July 2005.Pratapgarh ,being situated on the bank of river Sai, is covered by Varanasiin the east, Lucknow in the west, Sultanpur in the north and Allahabad district in south, has been a place of
historical importance, for being headquarters of various “Raj Gharanas” and of religious importance for beingblessed by Goddess Belha Devi, but had nothing significant in the field of education. So, with the SAKET
GIRLS DEGREE COLLEGE, DAHILAMAU, PRATAPGARH advent of Saket Girls Degree college ,the mission ofeducating girls with the goals of shaping character, filled up with the feelings of service to the nation, got
impulse and momentum.
