Along with the hustle and bustle on the car show we are happy to welcome four new couples to our club membership for the month of April. They are: Mark and Melissa Brooks, Keith and Maryanne Miller, Keith and Rosanne Sheppard and Karl and Sherryll White. Welcome and thanks for your support of the car show. There isn’t a much better way to get started.
We encourage each of our members to own and
wear a name tag. This is extremely helpful for those of us
who have a hard time remembering names. The cost of the
name tag is $8.00 (recent increase). Payment in cash at the
time of placing the order is required. Orders for name tags
are taken at the first Saturday cruise in at Krispy Kreme.
Orders placed this month will be available for pickup the
next month at Krispy Kreme.
Currently, there are a number of name tags that are
over six months and a few over a year old that have not been
picked up. Check with Chuck to see if you ordered
one. If you need
your name tag prior
to the monthly cruise
in contact Chuck at

2nd Annual Jim Cox Memorial Car Show
April 6, 2013
Sponsored by:
Dixie Vintage Antique Auto Club
& Alabama POCI WHAT A GREAT DAY!!! The weather was
wonderful, bright but cool. Everyone was in good
spirits and, “Oh my goodness at the beautiful vehi-
cles”. Then to add to the ambiance in the distance
from time to time was the whine of the Indy cars
warming up at the Barber Motorsport Park nearby.
Quite a day for car lovers in our area.
This is only the second year of this car show in
memory of Jim Cox and the turn out was wonder-
ful. Jim’s heart was really into vintage cars. He
owned several but his favorite seems to have been
his Pontiac GTO. He had been active in Dixie
Vintage and the Pontiac Club for years and had
been an officer in both clubs. He was dearly loved
and is missed by all. We are glad to have this
show in his memory. Proceeds go to Travelers
Aid of Greater Birmingham.
There was a great variety of vehicles of all types
which even included a display of vintage bicycles.
You can get a sense of the range of the vehicles on
pages 6-9 of this months newsletter. It’s not the
same as being there though so our hope is that you
will start now making plans to attend next year if
you weren’t there. Better yet, Bring a Car!
Tons of thanks are due to all the volunteers who
helped make this show go so well. The members
of Dixie Vintage, the Pontiac Club, friends of
Peggy Cox and members of Travelers Aid really
joined hands to take care of all the thousands of
things there were to do. Checking in the cars as
they arrived, parking them for display, handling
registration, managing the voting for trophies, set-
ting up and taking down everything and lots of
other jobs kept everyone busy. And, I didn’t hear a
single discouraging word. Thanks also to the members of Zamora Shrine
Temple who have allowed us to use their facility
for both years of the show. Our vendors were great! The food was very good.
There was also a good opportunity to shop for jew-
elry and other special items that are often hard to
find. And, Classic Collectors insurance had a
booth where they were ready to answer questions
related to the special type of insurance needed for
our collector type of cars.
Many thanks to Gary Asher and Friends who en-
tertained us under the pavilion. They were very
good! And, a big thank you to “DJ Ray” who kept
the music going in the lot as we strolled through
the lineup of cars.

A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR If you had a car at the show and you do not see it in this very picture filled edition please let me know. I found
out too late that I was having problems with my camera. So, some of the pictures I took I could not use. Catch
me at a Cruise in and I will make sure your vehicle gets in a later edition.
It was a very GOOD DAY!
Thanks to everyone for all the help. - Wayne
