The ultimate in luxury and style
Inside mineralogy, diamond may be the allotrope of carbon dioxide, where the carbon dioxide atoms are arranged in a isometric-hex octahedral crystal lattice.
Diamond derives its name in the ancient Greek (adamas) which suggests as “invincible”, “unbreakable”, “to above power”.
Diamonds include the second most valued metals on earth after gold.
Normally, these precious gems are classified using the type and quantity of impurities found on them.
Diamond dazzle along with delight- the everlasting sparkling symbol involving love and everlasting nature.
Diamonds are distinguished good principle of the particular four C’s
India is the greatest processor of diamonds in the world.
Top diamond mining countries are also located in Botswana, Namibia, Canada, Zimbabwe, Angola, US and Russia.
INTRODUCTION
The initial river-bed diamonds have been probably discovered within India, in close to 800 B. C.
In 1477, Archduke Maximilian of Austria gave a engagement ring to Mary of Burgundy, thus beginning the tradition of diamond engagement bands.
Diamond industry is usually broadly separated in to two basically different categories:
Gem-grade diamonds: 1. 92% of diamond pieces cut in 2003 were in Surat, Gujarat, India. 2. others important centers of diamond cutting and trading are Antwerp. Industrial-grade diamonds: 1. Dominant industrial use of diamond is in cutting, drilling, grinding, and polishing as well as also used in scientific experiments.
2. 80% of mined diamonds(equal to about 100 million carats or 20,000 kg annually), unsuitable for use as gemstone are destined for industrial use.

THE VALUE OF A DIAMOND:THE FOUR C’S
The 4Cs of Diamond Quality is the universal method for assessing the quality of any diamond, anywhere in the world.
In Selecting a Diamond, the rarity, value and beauty is determined by the four factors mentioned here, called as:
The 4 C’s of Diamonds
Cut
Carat
Color
Clarity
The Diamond cut refers to the proportions, finish, symmetry and polish of the diamonds.
DIAMOND CUT
These factors determine the intensity and brilliance of a diamond.
A diamond's cut is crucial to the stone's final beauty and value.
Cut refers not to a diamond's shape (round, oval, pear, etc.) but to a diamond's proportions, symmetry and polish.
Cut grade is assigned by the GIA using the following scale:
Excellent Very Good Good Fair Poor
DIAMOND CARAT WEIGHT
Carat is the unit of weight measurement used to describe the weight of diamonds.
1 Carat= 100 cents/ 0.2gms/ 0.007ounces
Carat weight refers only to the weight of diamonds and not to the dimensions of diamond.
DIAMOND COLOR
The diamond color evaluation of most gem-quality diamonds is based on the absence of color.
The GIA grades diamonds on a scale of D (colourless) through Z (light color).
All D-Z diamonds are considered white, even though they contain varying degrees of color.
GIA COLOR GRADING
DIAMOND CLARITY
Clarity is the occurrence of inclusions, small crystalline fractures or irregular crystal growth, or the lack of them inside the diamond.
Clarity refers to the degree to which these imperfections are present.

Colored Diamonds are also called Fancy Diamonds. Here is a list of the different types of diamonds in existence.
Shape has an appealing look to it. The best way to judge shape appeal is to look at the stone’s girdle outline without a loupe, and decide if it’s attractive.
Fancy Shapes are less expensive than Rounds.
DIAMOND SHAPES
Uses of diamonds:
The important of diamonds are as follows.
Diamonds are valuable gemstones. Larger and purer the diamond, the more valuable it is.
Diamonds are used in jewellery such as such as rings, earrings, pendants, bangles or necklaces.
Smaller pieces of diamonds are used for cutting glass and drilling rocks.
Only a diamond can cut another diamond. Diamond dust is used for polishing diamonds and precious stones.
In the future, diamonds may be used for surgical tools, medical devices, and prosthetic human joints.
