WelcomeAt Crown Paints, we simply love colour.
Dating back to a small independent print shop in Lancashire in 1777, our mission was, and still is, to empower homeowners to realise the power of paint. Colour Influences is our annual celebration of new ways to experience colour, we hope it inspires you.
It’s not just paint, it’s personal.

The ultimate celebration of plant power, Botanical Noir highlights the relationship between nature and architecture. The trend examines how the boundaries of space are ultimately blurred.
The combination of harsh structural geometry and soft organic forms are revealed through the use of light and shadow. On top of that a myriad of deep and mysterious tones, from palm spring green to warm gold metallic, creates a space that is rich and inviting.
Shadowed yet vibrant with bohemian elements.
“Botanical Noir explores the way nature and architecture are
intrinsically linked. This trend explores contrasts: geometric
structures reflect architectural lines whilst the organic forms of the
foliage provide a soft relief. The glimmer of metallic adds a touch
of luxury whilst a hint of pink provides the perfect contrast to the
dark and shadowy greens.”
“This trend merges indoor living with the charm and benefits of
outdoor living. Deep organic green and teal in structured forms
are softened by playful pink and a touch of botanical prints and
succulent foliage.”

“In the era of diminishing plastic we turn back to basics, rediscovering
raw natural materials and the earthy tones they bring with them.
Powdered Clay is a hero of this colour palette and unprocessed
rough surfaces are appreciated for their natural beauty.”
“Tones of clay, terracotta and charcoal make a palette that is purely
natural. Here is a look that champions imperfection and celebrates
the hand made. The look is relaxed, simple, fluid. Colours work in
harmony, mixing and blending into each other.”
Justyna Korczynska - Crown Design Studio
Judy Smith - Crown Colour Consultant
Wabi-sabi is a Japanese philosophy centred on the acceptance of transience and imperfection; it overlooks the stigma of the imperfect and the incomplete. Unprocessed similarly resists the neat precision of modern life and instead celebrates the natural world, just as it is.
The palette draws colours from the earth, including baked earth terracotta and sun-bleached wheatgrass. Altogether the colours are raw, untreated, layered and yet perfect together as a whole.
Diverse and interesting but, at the same time, completely unified and proportioned.

“This colour collection takes its inspiration from the artists pigments where
layered paint builds on the palette to create deep tonal texture that conjures
up the atmosphere of the old masters. This influence embraces the luxury
of velvet fabrics and reflective metals to layer textures in a way that reflects
the moody atmosphere of the artist’s studio.”
“Inspired by the concept of a master’s studio and lit to mimic a Dutch
master’s still life. Colours are dark, rich and inviting. Walls are painterly,
created to look like ‘mixed’ pigments as the studio becomes the palette.”Neville Knott - Crown Colour Consultant
Kathryn Lloyd - Crown Colour Specialist
Pigment reaches into the roots of colour to inspire a recollective respect for the great old master’s studio. The genesis of colour is reduced to particles and pigments, which is where this trend owes its namesake.
From chocolate suede and granite top grey to metallic rose gold, the palette embraces the luxury of velvet fabrics and reflective metals to create a sumptuous space.
The walls are painterly, with layered light, colours and textures; transforming the walls into the canvas.
