Update fellow members on legislative activities
Become activists with our State Representatives in promoting organization’s common goals and educating them on our concerns
GOALS & OBJECTIVES
Legislative Issues
We identified and tracked the following Bill Subjects through www.capitol.state.tx.us
• ARCHITECTS & ARCHITECTURE (S0026)• CONSTRUCTION & BUILDING MATERIALS (S0106)• EDUCATION--PRIMARY & SECONDARY--CLASS SIZE (S0232)• Education--Primary & Secondary--Facilities (I0241)• Energy--Conservation (I0317)
Developed a better understanding of the legislative process
Became more politically active by voicing our support or concerns individually with our Representatives

UPDATE MEMBERS ON LEGISLATIVE ISSUES
Legislative Issues
Most members are not political activists and are out of practice with the political process
Our members are leaders in our respective industries and have the power to have a collective voice
We firmly believe that well-planned, designed and constructed educational facilities are healthy, relevant and energy efficient and benefit students’ performance and society in general

Lifecycle Costs
•The goal of this document is to provide information to school districts that are making purchasing decisions on major school building components and equipment.
•Decisions on equipment and building components should be made by analyzing both initial costs with long term costs, as well as with a good understanding of service and maintenance potential.
GOAL OF REPORT
Lifecycle Costs
•This document is a starting point when considering a major purchase.
•School Districts are encouraged to consult with the appropriate design consultant prior to making the decision.
GOAL OF REPORT
Lifecycle Costs
MECHANICAL SYSTEMS
Selection of system type typically is driven by prior experience and costs. With the advent of LEED, adoption of Energy Codes and media driven exposure, the use of the more renewable technologies are being explored. Systems that do not evaporate water and do not require water treatment chemicals are becoming more popular. Life Cycle costs are becoming more prevalent in decision making process.
