“There aren’t enough organizations out there like Calm Waters.”
-Candice and Adam, Calm Waters participants
Everyone experiences loss. But, no one should experience it alone. Calm Waters is a safe harbor where children, young adults, parents and guardians begin to heal after a death or significant change in their family. Our free support groups are a place to share emotions while learning healthy coping skills that help in the grief journey.
We serve children and families experiencing grief caused by the death of a family member, divorce of parents, or a family loss issue such as incarceration, deployment or deportation. Our center-based and school-based support groups, special seminars and trainings equip individuals for all stages of the grief journey. Trained facilitators utilize Calm Waters curriculum with age-appropriate discussion and engaging hands-on activities. One in five American youths will experience the death of someone close by age 18. Calm Waters is here to remind those who are grieving that.... There is hope.
Center-Based GroupsOngoing grief groups meet on Monday evenings for 16 weeks. Divorce support groups meet on Tuesday or Thursday evenings for eight weeks. Free of charge.
Seminars and TrainingsGrief training for counselors and educators; community grief trainings; “Parenting through Divorce” seminars; volunteer facilitator training; speakers upon request.
School-Based GroupsMeet weekly in six-week sessions for metro-area
