Hirschmann Quality Management System
IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard)
Since 2009 Hirschmann Automation and Control is IRIS certified.
We chosed this standard to improve our internal processes because it represents the requirements of all of our customers much better than ISO 9001.
IRIS is analog to the standard ISO/TS 16949 which covers the requirements of the car industry a new industrystandard covering the requirements for the Railway Industry.
As Railway Application are long term applications IRIS focusses on Reliability, Availability and Maintainability of the products in the application.
Products / projects with project lead times up to more than 20 years were covered.
Though IRIS is focussed on the requirements of the Railway Industry it also strengthened the partnership between customers and suppliers and improves the common understanding of products and communication.
IRIS includes ISO 9001 but is much more. The result of a 3rd party audit is not only passed / not passed but gives practical improvement areas by an assesment tool with a questionaire of 253 questions in different quality levels. This allows to focus on objectives to improve the company and makes its calculable.

Network System Analysis – Signaling System
Signaling System
Mission Critical System to ensure the safe running of the train. It monitor and control the train in real-time basis to improve
the overall transportation efficiency.
Signaling system in the Metro typically composed by ATC(Automatic Train Control) system, it consists 3 sub systems:► Automatic Train Supervision(ATS)► Automatic Train Protection(ATP)► Automatic Train Operation(ATO)
These 3 sub systems composed a closed-loop system through the information switching network, to combine the ground
control and onboard control, field control and central control.
Network Requirement:● Should not interconnected with other system network, running independently to ensure the maximum safety● Ring network is typically required, and the network should be high reliable, real-time and fast recovery in case of any
network failure● Layer 2 network is typically considered to simplify the network design, better real-time performance and fast recovery
Often Used Products:
 RS20/30 as L2 ring switch
MACH4002 L3P in the Control Center
PowerMICE L3P in the Device Centralized Stations
Typical Network Structure – Signaling System – I (Overall Topology)
– Normally 4 Rings
» ATS network: 2 redundant Rings
» Signaling Backbone Network: 2 Redundant Rings
– ATS Network
» In device centralized stations: L3 PowerMICE is typically used
» In non device centralized stations: L2 RS20/30 is typically used
– Signaling Backbone Network
» In device centralized stations: L3 PowerMICE is typically used
» In non device centralized stations: L2 RS20/30 is typically used
– Network marked with pink line representing Trackside Ring network, connecting signaling devices at Trackside through controllers to the Signaling backbone Network
Typical Network Structure – Signaling System – II (Device Centralized Station)
Network System Analysis – ISCS
ISCS – Integrated Supervisory Control SystemAs the name described, ISCS integrates many automation subsystem into a one integrated system platform so that information and data in each subsystem can be combined and shared and supervised and operated. Generally speaking, ISCS offers a shared platform for the user that many automation information can be interconnected with.
ISCS system typically includes below systems.► Building Automation System(BAS)► Power Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition(PSCADA)
And following systems also provide their interfaces to ISCS system so that within ISCS system, users have possibility to monitor and control these systems► Fire Alarm System(FAS)► Access Control System(ACS)► Platform Screen Door(PSD)Network Requirements
Typically Ring Network, could be Single Ring or Dual Rings according to the budget limit.
Very fast recovery time required. HIPER-Ring offers possibility of less than 50ms
Since many subsystems are connected into ISCS network, in order to limit the broadcast domain and limit the network failure influences, ISCS network is typically a L3 routed network leveraging the fast routing recovery protocol like OSPF
Today, more and more requirement regarding CCTV application is discussed, which lead to the migration from backbone network platform(typically MSTP/SDH network) to Industrial Ethernet based ISCS network. As video streams are huge and often transmitted by means of Multicast, dynamic multicast routing protocol such as PIM-SM is becoming essential to properly handle them.
Often Used Products: RS20/30 to connect devices in each station as access switch
MS4128-L3P or MACH4002-L3P as Station backbone switch in each station and depot and control center
Typical Network Structure – ISCS network
• Each Station equipped with 2*L3P MACH4002 and build two gigabit MRP/HIPER-Ring
• Industrial grade backbone, high reliable switch enables max. MTBF
• L3 Gateway redundancy is realized through HiVRRP technology and if one router fails, the other one will takeover in less than 300ms
Network System Analysis – CBN
CBN – Communication Backbone Network
This network serves as the backbone network for the transmission of different applications except signaling system and ISCS system
CBN network typically handle data exchange from following applications► Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)► Public Address (PA)► Automatic Fare Collection (AFC)► Fire Alarm System (FAS)► Access Control System (ACS)► Platform Screen Door (PSD)CBN network typically uses MSTP/SDH technology rather than Ethernet
Hirschmann is the first and only supplier successfully convert MSTP/SDH into Industrial 10G Ethernet based solution in two Metro Rail lines in China
Products:
MACH4002-xG+3X L3P in each Station and Depot and Control Center
Typical Network Structure – CBN network with Hirschmann Solution
Network System Analysis – AFC
AFC – Automated fare CollectionAn automated fare collection (AFC) system is the collection of components that automate the ticketing system of a public transportation.
AFC system typically includes below elements:► Central Computer(CC)► Station Computer(SC)► Encoder/Sorter(E/S)► Gate Machine
… …
Often used Products:
RS20/30 installed inside of gate machine or in control room
MS4128-L3P or MACH4002-L3P in each station and control center
Typical Network Structure – AFC network

Clear Space® WirelessClear Space® Technology guarantees uninterrupted WLAN transmission in outdoor applications by eliminating all concurrent radio frequencies. This leads to low er noise level and less packet loss. Especially in industrial environments w here different radio technologies are used, Clear Space® makes the use of WLAN possible and reliable.
Hirschmann™ Technology Overview 1
TofinoThe EAGLE Tofino industrial security solution empow ers Automation Engineers to design and implement their netw ork security solution, w ith a minimum of IT know ledge. The EAGLE Tofino facilitates a defence in depth security posture, as recommended in the ISA-99 and IEC 62443 standards for industrial netw orks.
ESD ProtectionOpenBAT devices also have integrated ESD protection w hich significantly increases lifetime of the devices. The integration of ESD protection additionally saves installation space and cost. WLAN installations therefore become stable and reliable in environments like in trains or in mines w here electrical fields and static discharges may harm the internal electronics.
