famous artist and in order to make
those dreams come true, her aunts have sent her to Europe to study.
Unfortunately for the sisters, art
school is no cheap endeavor. Angelica and Theresa decide to take
on a new role as “sisters of charity”
and beg on the street to support Tania and themselves financially.
Things have been going wonderfully
until a young man drops in on them unexpectedly. Ben, played by Joe
Sutter, proclaims that he is a medical

student on a capital campaign of his own to raise money to pay back all
the student loans that have come
along with school. The sisters receive
another surprise when Theresa is caught “begging” by a nosey cop
named Bozo, played by Dave
Pettinger. When Bozo takes Theresa home to get her
things he finds that this could
be a great opportunity for him to swindle some cash
from these unsuspecting
ladies. Angelica, the brains of
the operation, is on to him and decides to bring Bozo in
on the charade the three have
created and expand their abilities to collect money. All
is well in their world again
until, who should appear, but darling Tania with news of her own. Is the
game up or will the “cheating
cheaters” keep the action going
unbeknownst to seemingly sweet and innocent Tania?
“Cheating Cheaters” is under the direction of Ashley Garst and Katie
Hazel. Performances will run July
10th through the 14th at 7 pm with a
matinee on Sunday, July 15 th beginning at 2 pm.

In appreciation for all members of

Theatre, the organization is having a new spin on the mid-summer show
in 2012 – a thank you picnic.
Before the Saturday, July 14th

picnic area, complete
with gazebos and awnings for shade, a
grilling area and
plenty of great food.

will begin at 7:00, so the food serving will be between 5:30 and
6:30 that evening on a first come,
first served basis. Get there early for
a nice place to relax and enjoy the summer cuisine and chatting with
your friends, topped off with a great
comedy by John Patrick.
In the event that the weather is wet,
scorching or otherwise not agreeable to an outdoor festivity – it will be
indoors in the Hawkeye Theatre
lower level – dry and in the air
conditioning. Either way it will be a fun and economical way to spend a
summer’s eve in July. See you at the
show!

runs for six shows until a matinee on Sunday, August 21st.
Characters in this funny show are:
Evie - female, 40s;
Carter - male, late 30s;
Caitlin - female, 20s, Duncan - male, 40s;
Waiter, Ramon,
Neil, Nurse, paramedic - male, 30s.
Duncan and Evie were married for
15 years. They are now happily di-
vorced. Well, maybe not happily, but they are trying to find that elusive
quantity in new relationships. Evie is
seeing Carter, a slightly younger cof-fee salesman, and in him she’s trying
to nurture renewed happiness, even if
it kills him.
Duncan, on the other hand, had a
GUN-SHY (cont from cover)
head start and had already initiated a relationship with the pretty, young
and nearly anorexic, Caitlin. He see
her as his second chance at real hap-
piness, but she prefers the exhilara-tion of when they were sneaking
around behind Evie’s back. The one
remaining connection that Duncan and Evie cannot sever is their 13 year
old son and they, and their new at-
tachments, are brought together to come to an adult resolution as to how
to co-exist, separately. Richard
Dresser’s comedy depicts with a
sharp tongue, the realities and foibles of a good divorce gone bad.
All we know is that once you leave this show you’ll realize how good
you’ve got it, or at least, if your
thinking of a break up, you might be a little Gun-Shy.
Suzanne: Judy’s right arm girl, a gofer; High school/college female.
Officer Blair: A rather dim police
officer; Adult either.
Marian Thorncraft is looking forward
to her honeymoon with new hubby,
Tyler. She pictures someplace romantic, secluded and cozy. No
sooner have her feet touched the
ground after being carried over the threshold than she discovers her love
nest is really a one-time mortuary!
Auditions for October Farce
Auditions for the Annual Dessert T h ea t r e , “ H o ne y mo o n a t
Graveside Manor” a ghostly farce
written by Pat Cook, will be held on
August 20th and 21st between 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Hawkeye Theatre.
The cast calls for 6-7 female and 3-
4 male actors in the following mix: Myron Thorncraft: A dithering
spilt personality recently escaped
from a mental institution; Adult male. The Woman: A ghost; Adult
female. Tyler Thorncraft: A writer
of horror novels on his honeymoon:
Adult male. Marian Thorncraft: Tyler’s new bride; Adult female.
Sophie: A wise cracking cleaning
lady; Adult female. Madge
Perkins: Chic publishing editor;
Adult female. Durward: Student,
not the brightest; High school/college male. Judy: Know-it-all
student; High school/college female.
Graveside Manor, as the locals call it, has been abandoned for years,
mainly due to the rumors of it being
haunted.
Michael Shoopman will cast and
direct the show which opens in mid-
October, just in time to kick in the Halloween season. Get to these
auditions or pay the price of severe
regret. It’s an opportunity to join a lunatic society for a couple of
months; you’ll never be the same.
Release waivers will be available at
the door. Actor requirements are a strong persona, physical willingness
to be thumped about, ability to listen
to and take direction, and finally a promise of first born to attend
practices on time, as scheduled.
Contrary to Shoopman’s norm, the script - amazingly - has no specific
accents. Yet.
