The Associated Students is the primary advocate for students at California State University, Northridge and provides excellent, meaningful programs and services designed to create and enhance a spirited, learning-focused campus environment.
Associated Students provides many services to the CSUN campus and community. Our services include:

• Instituting the Tradition of the Rose at CSUN • 2011-12 Governmental Advocacy Priorities • Establishing a Scholarship in Honor of Retired CSUN President Jolene Koester • Student Aid Alliance • CSUN Smoking Policy • Opposition to the Governor’s Proposed Cuts to the Cal Grant and Loan Forgiveness Program • Restricting the Distribution of Single-Use Plastic Bags on Campus • Supporting the Implementation of an Online Waitlist for Classes Via the CSUN Portal

Funded over 300 student clubs and organizations, A.S. departments, and campus departments through the A.S. annual and supplemental budget process in the amount of $7 million. Other funding included:

Big Politics Series – free series of political speakers and debates, National Congressional Debate, State Budget Panel, and Mayoral Candidate Forum
Earth Day featuring 40 environmental organizations, campus clubs and departments, and vendors
Big Show XI featuring “B.o.B.” drew an audience of 9,000

Children’S Center
Children’s Center
The Children’s Center provides high quality early childhood education for the children of CSUN students formally admitted and currently enrolled.
The Center is open to children one to five years of age. It is located on campus at 18343 Plummer Street. Full or partial financial assistance is available to qualifying student families.

Children’s Center
Provided early childhood education for children of CSUN students, both at the on-campus center and through a network of licensed family child care homes near the CSUN campus
Served more than 185 children in the on-campus Center and over 40 in our Family Child Care Network at off-campus child care homes
Earned continued accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children and met all California State Licensing requirements, California Department of Education requirements and successfully completed a three-year federal food audit
Administered a $242,000 federal CCAMPIS grant (Child Care Access Means Parents in School) 20

Recycling Team
Campus Recycling
Campus Recycling Services is dedicated to improving the conditions of the environment by raising awareness of recycling to students and staff, increasing recycling and resource recovery, and beautifying the CSUN campus. Our collection services are: Office Paper Bottles and Cans Cardboard Cell Phones Printer Cartridges Pallets and much more...

Campus Recycling
Provided collection services to more than 200 campus locations and at 20 campus events
Diverted over 331,000 pounds of recyclable materials from the University’s waste-stream
Placed a DARE donation box in Housing to help students in Campus Housing keep usable discards out of the landfill
America Recycles Day – educated campus community with games made from recycled or repurposed materials, bracelets crafted from can tabs and other assorted activities
Annual E-Waste Event- a two-day e-waste collection event; gathered nearly 15,000 pounds of e-waste 20

Ticket Office Team
Ticket Office
The Ticket Office, located in the University Student Union, offers ticketing services for nearly all on-campus arts and athletics events as well as discounted tickets to the movies, theme parks like Magic Mountain and Universal, public transportation passes and much more.
The Tickets Office provides a $20 monthly transit subsidy to CSUN students through the A.S. Student Transit Subsidy Program.

Sold 54,900 tickets to nearly 400 events on the CSUN campus
9,050 tickets sold to Big Show XI
Sold out both KCSN benefit performances featuring Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
30,104 discount theme park tickets and discount movies passes were sold to campus community
$95,000 of transit subsidies provided through A.S. Student Transportation Subsidy Program, encouraging the use of public transportation and benefiting nearly 600 students each month
A total of 7,673 transit passes to the CSUN community sold 2011

Outdoor Adventures Team
Outdoor Adventures (located in the Student Recreation Center) gives students the opportunity to explore, learn and enjoy outdoor opportunities.
Students participating in outings will learn how to recreate safety in the great outdoors, in addition to developing an understanding of our natural surroundings, leading to the ability to enjoy and appreciate our earth’s natural beauty and all it has to offer!
