OpenVIVO
A hosted platform for showcasing scholarly work
What is VIVO?
VIVO is an open source, linked data application for representing and showcasing scholarship.
VIVO uses a collection of ontologies to represent scholarship. VIVO-ISF (Integrated Semantic Framework) is the VIVO core ontology.
VIVO is a member-supported project of Duraspace, along with Fedora, Dspace and DuraCloud services.
VIVO produces linked data that is readily shared and recombined to foster research discovery
VIVO is in use at over 140 institutions in 28 countries, representing more than 200,000 scholars and 2 million works.
OpenVIVO is a hosted VIVO
that anyone can join
OpenVIVO Goals
1. Provide a VIVO experience for everyone, a demonstration of VIVO, a platform for experimentation, and an ownership experience for the VIVO team
2. Use persistent identifiers for all entities – people (ORCiD), works (DOI and PMID), organizations (Grid), journals (ISSN), concepts (FAST)
3. Automatic, real-time ingest of metadata from identifiers via public APIs
4. Attribution of works by scholars to indicate roles in works
5. Publication of data
6. Consumption and reuse of data
