At Ourense there is a historic quarter that lets you perform a myriad of activities; cultural, gastronomic, artistic, leisure...
You can visit the St. Martin`s Cathedral, which was built in the 12th century. It is a Romanesque building. There are also other
churches located in the historic but minor as Santa Eufemia and the St. Domingo among others. The entrance to all this is free.
1Monuments
You can go along the Roman road and then you arrive to the Roman bridge of Ourense, built in the first century. And as a modern example of bridge you can find the Millenium Bridge, which was built in 2001. It is a work of Álvaro Varela de Ugarte.
In the surroundings of the city of Ourense you can find the Gothic church of O Carballiño, called Veracruz. This construction has been finished in the 20th century.
At 3 km from the city lies the small town from the time of the Roman age of San Tomé, which was abandoned in the 2nd century.
In this location abounds with the rearing of pigs, kids, oxen and calves that sustain the juicy meat of the region dishes; Carne o Caldeiro or Caldo Gallego.
Marin was obliged to give the friars in compensation for Forum rights a certain amount that materialized in species, specially lambs, chickens and sea products. Among these the Octopus, very abundant in all the ria of Pontevedra.
2Cuisine
Fiesta del Pulpo is celebrated every 2nd Sunday of August in the Municipal Park of the town and enjoys the privilege of being considered since 1969 Festival of tourist interest.
Also praiseworthy is the ability of the Ourensanos when preparing desserts. There are many notable; rods stuffed, Filloas, Melindros Ribadavia, Bica and the Marron Glacé.
To develop these Marron Glacé, employs more than fifty years of experience. The elaboration of the Marron Glacé is a time- consuming process, ending these with a natural vanilla glaze.
3FestivalsHere are recommended three of
the most emblematic holidays of the region of Ourense. For starting, you can go to the town of Allariz, where is celebrated the popular festival of the ox for 10 days. It consists of releasing an ox through the streets of the town. It has been declared a Galician tourist Festival in 2006.
Continuing our journey by traveling to the past with the festival of the "Istoria" of Ribadavia. With which the inhabitants try to recover the traditional life of the village, so the people dresses with the period costumes.
For finishing, what better than the Entroido de Xinzo, very famous in Galicia, because of the presence of Pantallas, with peculiar masks and harassing anyone who
do not go in disguise.
4Nightlife
Miudiño is an intimate and cozy environment, where having a good time with friends, enjoying performances by Ourensanos Groups and cultural events.
After some drinks in this local and getting around the different pubs in the Vinos Zone, you can continue the party in the two best dance clubs of Galicia.
LA BULL. Where in one of the rooms you can listen music of the 70`, 80` and 90`. While the other room decor is based on "video mapping" projections in 3D and house music.
SUITE 212, is a modern nightclub located in the city centre of Ourense and local reference of overnight, where takes place the most important events of the nightlife.

One of the most demanded attractions in the city is the tourist train.
