to your documentWe highly suggest that you use a professional graphic designer, however, if you create your own
artwork here are some tips for adding those essential details for making your file print ready.
Adobe Illustrator• From the filemenu, choose Save As. Make sure
theFormatdropdowntabnearthebottomofthescreenissettoAdobePDF.ClickSavetomoveon.
• Ontheleftcolumn,choosemarksandbleeds.Inthe first section labeled“Marks,” check the trimmarkstoaddcropmarks.Inthenextsectionla-beled“Bleeds,” check“use document bleed set-tings” if they have been setup correctly in theoriginal creation of the document. Otherwise,uncheckthebox,andincludea0.1875bleedallfoursidesofthedocument.Thelinkbuttoncanupdateallthefieldsequallyifyoutypeinthefirstboxandhittab.SavePDF.
Adobe InDesign• Fromthefilemenu,chooseExport.Makesurethe
Format drop down tab near the bottom of thescreenissettoAdobePDF(print).Titleyourdocu-mentandhitsave.
• On the left column, choosemarks andbleeds. Inthefirstsectionlabeled“Marks,”check“cropmarks.”Inthenextsectionlabeled“BleedsandSlug,”checkuse document bleed settings if they have beensetupcorrectlyintheoriginalcreationofthedocu-ment.Otherwise,uncheck thebox,and includea0.1875bleedallfoursidesofthedocument.Thelinkbuttoncanupdateallthefieldsequallyifyoutypeinthefirstboxandhittab.HittheExportbutton.Yourdocumentcannotcloseuntil InDesign isfin-ishedexportingyourPDF.
• *File>Packageifyouhaveadocumentthatuseslinks.Ifthedocumentneedsaltered,thispackagewillprovideuswithallthefontsandlinksneces-sarytoedityourdocumentaccuratelyandquickly.
• Makesureyourdocument size is set to thefinaltrim size specified in your appropriate templatelocatedhere:

Adobe Photoshop - Not Reccomended• Using photoshop to apply crops and bleed
marks requires advance planning. You canplace a photoshop (PSD) document in InDe-signandexport to includebleeds from there.SeeInDesignnotes.
• When you are creating your document, itneeds the resolution to be set to 300 pixels/inch.Thedefaultsettingisfor72,whichisonlyacceptable forweb and images to be viewedonscreen.
• YoualsoneedtoincludeyourbleedsinthesizeofyourPSDdocument. Ifyourfinaldocumenttrimsize is5x7, yourdocument inphotoshopshouldbe5.25x7.25(toincludespaceforthetop AND bottom, and left AND right... yourbleedswillonlybe0.125insteadofthe0.1875suggestedbyVervante.)
• FromPhotoshop’sFilemenu,choosePrintwithPreview. In thedialogbox, check“ShowMoreOptions.”IntheOutputarea,checkthe“CornerCropMarks”box, then click theBleedbutton.Specifyableedof0.125inches.
• Whenthepage isprinted, thecropmarkswillbemovedinward0.125onalledgesofthedoc-ument.
Adobe Acrobat Pro - Not Reccomended.• From the File > Print menu, choose the ad-
vanced options button. From the left columnchoose the marks and bleeds option. Checktrim marks. This will not add bleeds to yourdocument. You can only use if your images/colordonot“runoff”theedgeofthepage.
