The Missouri Agribusiness Academy program began in 1987. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Agriculture, the program provides 30 Missouri high
school sophomores a chance to explore the vast agribusiness resources of our state. Academy members are selected through a competitive written application and oral interview process. The main objective of the Missouri Agribusiness Academy is to provide an opportunity for students to view various facets of agriculture, visit agribusinesses, and meet leaders in agriculture, government and education. Other objectives are to aid students with communication skills and personal development. Through participation in the academy, students will be able to view firsthand the many career opportunities available in agriculture and to plan their future career goals. The FFA members who are nominated to be a part of this academy will be recognized Thursday afternoon.

GUEST SPEAKER
First General Session – Thursday, 2:30 p.m.
Victoria Maloch, National FFA Secretary, Emerson FFA –Emerson, Arkansas
"While all of my ribbons weren't blue, much more of a rainbow of colors actually, the skills I learned were invaluable," she said.
Maloch was elected to the 2014-15 National FFA Officer team as national secretary at the 87th National FFA Convention & Expo.
Originally from Emerson, Ark., and an agricultural business and pre-law major at the University of Arkansas, Maloch is a member of Chi Omega Sorority, active on the student
alumni board, in Collegiate FFA, with Collegiate Farm Bureau and is a Volunteer Action Center Literacy mentor.
As a student at Emerson High School in Columbia County Ark., she served as Arkansas FFA Association president, chapter president and secretary. Within FFA, she was the Star Chapter Farmer, state prepared public speaking winner and chairman of the state parliamentary procedure team among other great accomplishments.
Upon graduation from the University of Arkansas, Maloch plans to combine her love of talking and politics with her passion for agriculture by focusing on agricultural policy or agricultural lobbying as well as legislation regarding hunger and food insecurity. She would also like to serve as an elected official.
"As a national officer, I want to cultivate a passion for our organization and show members they too can have an impact on others, as long as they are placing the focus on other people instead of themselves," she said. "There could be no greater accomplishment than serving as the catalyst for students, lifting them up and turning their spark for FFA into a fire for them to share."
During her year of service Maloch hopes to encourage a more active and diverse membership and inspire passion for the organization in members.
