Mobile Communicator for Your DesktopWith EarthLink Mobile Communicator you can use your EarthLink phone service from anywhere with a broadband connection. Mobile Communicator is like having your office phone on your computer allowing you to make calls, chat and view your colleagues’ presence status.
System Requirements• PC: Windows 7 (SP 1) & Windows 8
(Desktop UI)
• MAC: OS X 10.7 and later
• Equipment: Speakers and microphone or headset
Download And Install The SoftwareTo download Mobile Communicator for Desktop, login to your CommPortal , click on the Apps tab and click the download link. When prompted, save and open the file to begin the installation process.
Call Handling BasicsPlacing CallsMaking a call is as easy as entering the number on the keypad or clicking on a contact’s call button. If your contact has more than one number, click the phone button next to their name to view a list of their phone numbers.
Your office phone number will be shown as the caller ID on your outbound calls.
Receiving CallsWhen someone calls your number a pop-up and ringing tone will alert you of the incoming call.
The pop-up shows the caller’s Caller ID information and options to Answer, Reject or Reject with a chat message.* Incoming calls will ring on all your devices allowing you to answer calls from everywhere is more convenient.
* Callers must be using Mobile Communicator for chat.

During The CallWhile a call is in progress, you’ll see this call window. Use this window to:
Call Hold
Mute/Microphone Volume
Headset Volume
Dial Pad
Conference Call
Transfer Call
Record Call
Merge
Chat
Hang up
Managing Incoming CallsIf another call rings in while you are on the phone, you can place the current call on hold to answer the phone. To switch between calls, toggle press the hold button. You can also merge both calls together by pressing Merge.
Recording CallsDuring a call you can press the Record button to start, and subsequently stop, recording the call audio. The call recording will be saved as a .wav file on your computer. These recordings are saved in a default location on your computer which is set from the settings.
Recording notification requirements vary from state to state. Make sure you review the Privacy Laws and Notice Requirements for Electronic Recording of Telephone Conversations in your jurisdiction.
Call JumpCall Jump works with your Mobile Communicator app on your mobile devices. If you are on a call and need to leave your desk, you can jump over to your mobile device without needing to place the caller on hold. Initiate the jump from your mobile device to pull the call from your desktop phone to be instantly connected.

Additional FeaturesInstant MessagingIncrease productivity by easily connecting with colleagues by sending them an Instant Message. You can view telephone presence status, and let people know when you are available or on the phone.
Presence StatusWith Mobile Communicator presence you can easily see if a coworker is available for a call — or send an IM if they are in a meeting. Your presence status will automatically update if you are on a call and synchronize with meetings in your Outlook calendar. You can also manually set a message that will be displayed next to your status icon.

Call Management OptionsTo manage how your calls are routing, select Call Manager from the Tools menu. The Call Manager will monitor your incoming calls, and route them depending on who is calling, the time of day and whether your are on a call or not. You can forward callers to an alternate number, send the caller to voicemail, reject the call or ask them to record a name before connecting the call.
Modifying Call Manager configurations apply to incoming calls for all your devices.
Your Contacts ListMobile Communicator for Desktop assembles a contact list for you to use.
• Contacts that you type directly into Mobile Communicator for Desktop
• Contacts that are contained in the Outlook or Mac local address book
• CommPortal contacts
• CommPortal Business Group Directory
Favorites
For quick access to frequently-called contacts, add them to your favorites list. Right click on any contact and choose “Add to Favorites” from the drop-down list. Favorites will appear in the Favorites list and in the Contacts list.
Outlook Contact Integration
By default your CommPortal personal contacts are integrated with Mobile Communicator. You can also enable integration with your existing Outlook contacts list. To change your contacts source access the Options from the Tools menu.
Emergency CallsMobile Communicator lets you make calls from anywhere. If you place a 911 call from Mobile Communicator, the 911 operator may not be able to identify where you’re calling from. You may update your 911 location via CommPortal at https://voip.elnk.us
Find Your PasswordYou’ll need your EarthLink CommPortal phone number and password to start using Mobile Communicator for Desktop. If you don’t have this information, call us at 1-855-EL-CARE-1 (1-855-352-2731)
