CLUB NEWSBy Anthony Lambert, General Manager
Members Enjoying e Club!
Summertime is the perfect time to make
improvements to the Club. We have taken positive steps to improve the functionality and access to the Grille entrance and paved walkway, with the added bonus of enhancing the Club’s curb appeal. The entranceway has been greatly transformed to mirror the new entrances at PrimoVita and Citrus Hills Pro Shop, giving our Club another aesthetically pleasing and complimentary design. We also have been doing some exciting behind-the-scenes improvements and renovations to our Grille kitchen. One example is the installation of the latest industry-leading hood and exhaust system.
As we continue to accomplish our planned improvements, BellaVita’s indoor hot tub has received an exciting new makeover. We enclosed the area with beautiful glass blocks, offering additional privacy. The new look, as well as the new ventilation and exhaust system, make the hot tub and pool area an excellent place to relax and unwind. We would like to
thank you for your support and patience during the renovation; the outcome was well worth it. We always will continue to invest in our facility by working hard to maintain and improve the first-class country club you deserve.
We are especially pleased to welcome Monika Maciborek as the new Director of Restaurants for the Grille and Tiki Bar. Monika was most recently the
Food and Beverage Operations Manager for Bold Foods, a Bobby Flay establishment in Mohegan Sun, Conn. Originally from Poland, she moved to Connecticut with her family and began working in the restaurant industry, starting out as a waitress and moving up to operations manager. Her experience encompasses all facets of the restaurant and bar industry. We are very pleased to have Monika on our team, and with her experience, professionalism and enthusiasm in the food and beverage fi eld we are confi dent that she will enhance our culinary excellence and drive our food and beverage operations to an even higher level. Next time you are at the Grille or Tiki Bar, be sure to stop in and welcome Monika to the Club!
BUILD ON YOUR HOMESITEBy Greg Souris, Vice President Sales & Marketing
Early in the summer we sent a survey to 3,200 vacant homesite
owners in the Villages of Citrus Hills and Pine Ridge. The response was unbelievable! Thirty-six percent said “YES” to building within two years, and that was out of 740 responses. Think about that for moment. That is a couple hundred new homes that are going to start popping up all over the Villages of Citrus Hills!
This is the perfect time to build a home in Citrus Hills. Interest rates are at all-time lows, and the real estate market is on the rise all over the country, making it easier for buyers to sell their homes or refi nance for the purpose of building a second home here in the Villages of Citrus Hills. The advantage these homesite owners have when building with Live Citrus Hills and Citrus Hills Construction is the use of our award-winning amenities. No other
builder can offer you the benefi t of a Social Membership. Today having a Social Membership is more important than ever. Did you know that the
overwhelming majority of buyers looking to move to the Villages of Citrus Hills request a Social Membership? That means, if you plan to sell your home in the future, you really need to have a Social Membership for resale purposes!
As you all know by now, our models on Atlantic and Essex are viewable by appointment only. Our attention is focused on assisting our 3,200 vacant homesite owners with the preparation of building their new homes here in the Villages of Citrus Hills. Our Summer Fly/Drive Program is condensed to maximize the amount of time our buyers have while visiting their future home and community. It’s our job to give them a taste of what living here is all about — The Live Citrus Hills Experience!
Herb and Citrus Roasted ChickenTake advantage of Florida’s fresh citrus with this simple-to-make and brightly
colored, terrifi cally fl avorful dish. This recipe is perfect for citrus lovers. Why choose between orange chicken and lemon chicken when you could have both?!
COOKING WITH Chef Dwane
Preparation:Heat oven to 400 degrees. Whisk together the olive oil, honey, lemon and orange juice,
dried seasoning, paprika, red pepper fl akes, onion or garlic powder, salt and pepper. Place chicken into a baking dish and pour mixture on top, turning to coat all sides. At this point you can let it marinate for a little while, if you have the time, for even more fl avor infusion. Arrange the sliced citrus and onion all around and underneath the chicken. Place fresh thyme and rosemary throughout, along with a good drizzle of olive oil. Roast uncovered for about an hour or until juices run clear and chicken is fully cooked. Remove parts to a serving platter and garnish with additional chopped fresh herbs, if desired.

and, for the first time ever in history, a full-view, underwater escape! These world-class performers take their cue from the showmanship of the great illusionists of the past — such as Harry Houdini — and pair it with a new and updated
contemporary aesthetic. Their set and costume designs lend the genre a theatricality and artistry that has rarely been seen before.
Additionally, for those who are looking for a more “Old-Florida”-style getaway, check out our day trip to Micanopy on October 15th. The locals call it the town that time forgot!
Ancient oaks cloaked in Spanish moss canopy the town’s narrow streets and dirt lanes, providing shade and southern ambiance for visitors. Members have the option of antiquing at some of the local shops, dining at the Old Florida Café, which features a charming café menu and atmosphere, or taking a guided tour of the town and its rich history. You’ll simply be enchanted by this hidden Florida gem!
For more information about these and other exciting day trips this summer, please contact the Vacationers Club or Travel Authority of the Nature Coast at 352-628-0668.
What’s not to love about Florida? The state boasts stunning views
of the sea, bathtub-warm ocean temperatures, ice cold drinks, and an endless array of things to do. Whether you're looking to live it up in Miami, bask in the sun on Clearwater beach, get cultured in St. Petersburg, or hang out in Citrus County, this state definitely offers something for everyone within convenient distances!
To take advantage of these opportunities, the Citrus Hills Vacationers Club has teamed up with the staff at Travel Authority of the Nature Coast, and put together two Florida-based day trips this summer for our members. There’ll be plenty of things to see and do — even for those “seasoned” travelers who’ve done it all!

TENNIS TALKBy Bruce Payne, Director of Tennis
I t is time for those interested in USTA Leagues to start making
plans for the fall. Adult and senior combo teams begin competition next month. Combo teams are made up of two players with ratings half a point apart, combining to form teams such as 7.5 and 8.5. Senior combo teams are made up of players who will be at least 50 years old by December 31, 2016. Adult combo leagues are made up of players who will be at least 18 years old by the end of the year.
The fi rst step in forming a team is to determine who might assume the helm as captain. Captains are solely responsible for determining how many players will be on each team, and who they will be. Captains also are responsible for preparing line-ups for team matches and recording scores upon completion of those matches. We have had a number of great captains over the years, and have every confi dence that this trend will continue.
If you are interested in being a USTA
Combo captain, please let me know as soon as possible. I will be happy to provide your team numbers as soon as they are generated. If you wish to play on a combo team, I will forward your request to the appropriate team captain. If, by chance, you are not chosen, please consider starting a second team at your level. We’re more
than happy to help you get started. We are looking forward to
another exciting season of USTA league tennis, and hope you can stop by the tennis center to support the Skyview teams whenever possible. No
other tennis center has such a fantastic view of
tennis as we do at Skyview Tennis.
Our summer maintenance campaign is right on track. Light poles and fence posts have been sanded and primed, and painters are ready to fi nish the job. New canopies have been ordered, and when they arrive, the frames on which they are mounted will be painted as well. Another water cooler has been replaced on courts fi ve and six, and work continues on court surfaces and lines. We’re all primed for another great season of tennis at Skyview. Let the games begin!

Our new home sales continue to track increasingly better than
our 2015 numbers, thanks, in a large part, to our team of professionals here at the Welcome Center. We continue to seek out top performers as well as move some of our current team members through our internal career path. Our goal is to be fully staffed, fully trained, and have a laser focus going into 2017. We recently hired Andrea Craig as a New Home Counselor and Kenny Wilder as a Call Center Marketer, and promoted Claire Derry to the position of Sales Assistant. We look forward to great success for both of these new additions to our team, as well as Claire in her new role.

As the summer heats up, so do the specials in our pro shop! In
an effort to make room in the pro shops for new merchandise, we will be running daily and monthly sales and specials. Please stop in often to see what great deals we are offering! As most of you have probably heard, our retail buyer, Jeff McDonald, has recently moved back to North Carolina and has accepted a position teaching golf. I am always on the lookout for new and creative items to carry, so if you have ideas you’d like to share, please stop in to see me.
This summer has been a hot one, which makes suffering from the heat on the golf course a likelihood. No one is immune to the effects of the heat and humidity. Even golf pros have succumbed to its effects. Both heat exposure and dehydration will diminish a golfer's ability to play their best. One of the most important things to do is to stay hydrated. So drink water throughout your game

and stay away from sodas, juice, caffeinated drinks and alcohol while out on the course. Alcohol actually dehydrates you. Heat exhaustion is serious business; be sure you take precautions to protect yourself. Wearing clothes that are not
suitable for playing conditions can also be a factor;
dress in light-colored, lightweight, moisture- wicking clothing, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. After you play, get out of the
sun and into a cool environment; stop by the
pro shop or restaurant to cool off.
In my year of working with Skyview, this has been the quietest month yet for holes-in-one, great shots, and great rounds. That being said, congratulations to Joan Ra who had a hole-in-one on June 25th on the 7th hole using her 9 Hybrid! As always, if you want to see your name in print, please let the pro shop know about your personal best round or an incredible shot that you hit, and I could be writing about you, too!

Eighty players participated in our Firecracker Open on July
2nd, and for the third time this year we had someone make a hole-in-one during the event. Congratulations go out to Mary Bodenheim for making that special shot on the 3rd hole of the Meadows, her first ace! A list of the winning teams can be found in the Fairway Feats section of this month’s Connections.
The Oaks renovation is going along as scheduled. For more specific information on the progress, bi-weekly updates are being produced and can be found in the Citrus Hills Pro Shop.
Please be advised that all pro shop credit won prior to August 1st must be used by August 31st. We have many products on sale as we are looking to make room for new inventory arriving in the fall. If you have not yet heard, our retail buyer, Jeff McDonald, has returned to his North Carolina roots and has accepted a teaching position at a golf academy. Going forward, I will be doing the purchasing for the pro shop here and handling any special orders. Please let me know if there are any different brands or products that you would like to see in our shop.
OAKS & MEADOWSBy Wayne Larsen, Head Professional
The Divine Nine is looking for new members. This wonderful group of ladies plays 9 holes of golf each Monday morning. Each year they hold a Rally for the Cure for Breast Cancer Awareness, and also take up collections of food for the various
charities in our county. If you are interested, please call Diane Cachia at 352-746-6848. Come be their guest for the first round. The only requirement is that you be a Golf or Social Gold Member of Citrus Hills Golf & Country Club.
Ninety-two-year-old Jake Owen shot an 84 recently. My plan was to put the accomplishment in the Fairway Feats, and not knowing exactly how old Jake was, I asked him how much he beat his age by that day? He seemed unimpressed with the 84, stating that he beats his age quite regularly. As Jake puts it, “There isn’t much I can do at 92, but shooting my age is one of them!”

BellaVita Spa’s August Spotlight Product
The intention of the practitioner is to release chronic tension and associated pain patterns. When the body is stressed, toxins build up in
the muscles and this build-up often leads to pain and infl ammation.
When the hypertonic muscles are released, the blood fl ow improves, allowing nutrients and oxygen to supply the muscles again.Deep tissue massage also
can be very benefi cial for tendon and ligament injuries. Using friction and joint-mobilization techniques, the therapist can help relieve injured tissue and improve mobility to the joint.
What if it hurts? You do not have to experience pain when enjoying the benefi ts of deep tissue techniques. No pain, no gain should not be your mantra. Moderate or slower pressures can be used to access deeper muscles without actually causing pain. Communication with the massage therapist is important to ensure that appropriate pressure is applied.
Should you have any questions, feel free to contact a massage therapist or the front desk at the spa. It is our pleasure to assist you in any way possible and make your BellaVita experience memorable.
We have many relaxing and pampering services at the spa,
and I would like to encourage you to come experience two, specifi cally, before the summer is over — our Signature Seaweed Wrap and a Deep Tissue Massage.
Seaweed wraps help tone and tighten your skin by ridding your body of toxins and excess inches due to water retention. Seaweed absorbs minerals, vitamins, and trace elements contained in ocean water through osmosis. Used as a wrap, seaweed absorbs toxins through your skin, aiding in cellular detoxifi cation.
The treatment begins with the dry-brushing technique to stimulate the lymphatic system. We then apply the seaweed to your body. Your body is gently cocooned and placed under a heating lamp which promotes fl uid elimination. The treatment is then fi nished with a light massage. This treatment is not appropriate for anyone with iodine or shellfi sh allergies or sensitive skin. It is ideal for those who desire cellular detoxifi cation and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance.
The Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.

mortgage brokers could explain the ins and outs of getting a mortgage. But, when it comes down to actually buying a house and arranging a mortgage, a large majority still turn to real live people to help with the transaction rather than taking the “do-it-yourself” path, especially for the “baby boomer” buyers who are looking for so much
more than just a “home.” Today’s buyers are searching for the lifestyle that we offer with our amazing amenities, excellent location and variety of home selections within our gated country club community. As your Realtor, we will provide the
expert, experienced, professional, and personal service that will give buyers the peace of mind that they are making the right decision for their future.
We invite you to visit our website, terravistarealtygroup.com, for the most up-to-date information on homes for sale and lease in Terra Vista and Brentwood. If you would like to market your home for sale or rent, please call our offi ce at 352-746-6121, or email me at [email protected].
Our summer months are moving past us quickly, and we enter into
August with good news of brisk resale activity in Brentwood and Terra Vista. Our communities have welcomed many new members who have purchased their homes through Terra Vista Realty Group. As your local community real estate company, we thank you for the referrals of your family and friends while they have been visiting you this summer. It truly is the biggest compliment that you trust us to assist your loved ones.
It has been said that the internet would change the real estate industry. It is true that, yes, most buyers now do their real estate searches online, and they use the internet to gather mortgage information and compare interest rates. It's not like the old days when only real estate agents had access to listings of homes for sale, and only banks and

10 Tips for Backyard Pool Safety1. Install a fence. Having a fence around your pool will prevent anyone from swimming in it that isn’t supposed to. Make sure the fence is at least 42 inches high and has a self-closing and latching gate. 2. Never leave a child unattended. It is important that one adult always is in charge of watching children. 3. Know how to perform CPR. Often bystanders are the fi rst to aid a drowning victim, so learning CPR can help save a life. 4. Don’t take chances with electricity and water. Don’t place an appliance or electrical equipment where it could fall or be pulled into the water. Never reach for an appliance that has fallen into water without fi rst unplugging it from the power source.5. Don’t dive in a pool that is not deep enough. The American Red Cross recommends a minimum of 9 feet of water depth for head-fi rst dives, including dives from pool decks.6. Don’t run on the pool deck. Running around the pool deck causes concern for slipping and falling into the pool.7. Ensure that ladders, steps and handrails are accessible. Make sure there are adequate safe-entry and safe-exit methods in both ends of your pool and hot tub.8. No glass around pool area. Broken glass is very hard to see on normal fl oors. If a glass breaks beside a pool and glass goes into the pool, it is nearly impossible to fi nd all the pieces.9. Don’t swim during lightning storms. Water is a conductor, which means you could be in danger if lightning strikes in your vicinity, not only if it hits the pool.10. Keep rescue equipment by the pool. Have items like a shepherd’s hook, safety ring, and rope in close proximity.
