A noun is a word for a person, place, or thing. Everything we can see or talk about is represented by a word that names it. That ‘naming’ word is called a noun.

An article is a kind of adjective which is always used with, and gives some information, about a noun.   

The three articles in English are a, an and the.

There are two different types of articles that we use in writing and conversation to point out or refer to a noun or group of nouns: definite and indefinite articles.
