A. Solomon is said to be the wisest man that ever lived The Bible includes three books written by Solomon, they are all classified among the poetical books of the Bible as the books of wisdom. Those books, in the order we find them in the Bible are:*Proverbs*Ecclesiastes*Song of Solomon

B. The Song of Solomon was Solomon’s personal favoriteC. I prefer to leave the three books in the same order we find them in the Bible:

The Song of Solomon is exactly what it says it is; a song.

It is really a series of songs that each fit together to convey one story.

There are, in this play:*An actor

*An actress and

*A choir

Among those who take the book seriously there are two approaches:

*To view it as representing Christ’s love for the church

*To see it as teaching about healthy intimacy in marriage

J Vernon McGee (perhaps the last of the “old timers”) preached the picture as pre-eminent over the human relationship. McGee said that it does teach about human relationships; but it teaches so much more.

*I prefer the spirit of the old fashioned preacher who believed that when we place the emphasis on God’s glory we will find that is really what we need.

*August 14, 1836 a young preacher by the name of Robert Murray McCheyne preached a sermon as a candidate for the pastorate of a church. He chose Song of Solomon chapter 28-17 as his text. His opening words were, “There is no book of the Bible which affords a better test of the depth of a man’s Christianity than the Song of Solomon.”
