to complete the work of painting the outside of the school. Billy

out the painting work to the toilets and the computer room. If
agreed this work will take place once the new budget has been
settled although this will now be dependent of new funds being
sought. -Piping work in Ogwen classroom has been completed. I have
been assured that this will be done during the Summer Holidays. -

grounds on 24/7/2011 and they smashed a panel on the bike shed in
order to gain access. The youths have since been spoken to by the

WIFI from here. -New playground features are now in place as funded
by the PTA. b) There are currently two toilets provided for the

REVIEW OF SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2010-2011
1.POST INSPECTION ACTION PLAN KEY ISSUES
• Continue to work on issues raised by ESTYN inspection.
2.Buildings
• Painting of the staff toilets.-Not done due to funding being
used to paint the front of the school.
• Liaise with LEA regarding condition of railings and exterior
painting of the building- school approached the Probation service
for help here. Materials were purchased and some of the painting
work was completed. Standard of the work was unsatisfactory on the
whole.
• Repair of light fittings- some light fittings have been
replaced. Others have deteriorated since.
• Continue to look at DDA access. Painting of Steps etc in line
with DDA policy- Steps have been painted. Further review of DDA
will be undertaken in 2011-2012 year.
• Investigate the possibility of moving the HT office and Staff
room. Use of current HT office as a parents room/ main office. Look
into costs associated with such a move- no funding available to do
this in current climate. Excess funding will need to be kept back
in order to maintain staffing levels.
• Carry out repair and maintenance as identified by buildings
report- some remedial work has taken place. The school did have
some vandalism last year which took a some of the dedicated budget.
The front of the school has been painted which has added to the
overall look of the school.
3.Managerial & Staff
• Investors in People accreditation- contact IIP assessors.
Ensure that relevant staff paper work is in place.- Not done.
• HT- to review school policies- some curricular policies have
been renewed. Others to follow in accordance with Self evaluation
timetable.
• Self evaluaton- Review cycle of subjects in accordance with
school timetable. Re-vamp self evaluation cycle to a three year
rather than a two year cycle. Lesson Observations by teachers to
take place this year- timetable has been adjusted. Lesson
observations to take place in 2011-12.
• Develop the use of INET as a means of developing staff. LEA
funding this for 1 year- Scheme proved to be ineffective.
• School Effectiveness Framework-school has moved on addressing
some of the issues regarding S.E.F. More to follow in 2011-12.
Timetabling will again focus on basic skills of numeracy and
literacy.
• Purchase of SIMS addon for Dinner Money management- SIMS
Dinner money module is now up and running.
• Continue to develop Governing body sub-panels- Governors to
come in to observe lessons. Roles are being developed. Finance,
Child Protection, ALN and Buildings sub-panel meet fairly
regularly. Lesson observations to be completed during 2011-12.
4.Ethos
• International dimension-continue with e-twinning. Forge links
with schools in Zambia as linked by Miss R. Roberts. Sponsorship of
a school- links are ongoing. School will continue to raise money
for the school. Rebecca Roberts will visit the school once again in
Easter 2012.
• Continue to build links with Pleumeleuc. French Pupil
placement in the school when next exchange takes place.E-mailing
between schools to continue- Successful e-mailing is in place with
one school. The other contacts us occasionally. More focus on
comparing different study areas this year eg recycling.
• Continue to develop the school garden and the school yard.
Develop outdoor play areas for the children in the garden area.
Develop further games for the children to use on the yard- The
school garden is progressing nicely. Raised beds are in place.
Front of the school is also being improved with garden pots ready
to be put in the space below the bridge.
• Continue to work on ECO Schools and Healthy Schools- The
school has passed the Silver award for Healthy schools. Work will
now be undertaken on passing the Eco Flag award.
• Develop art project with the Infants. Look at grant funding
for this. Artist in Residence a key factor in this- Art project was
a resounding success. Both schools have benefitted from the art
work.
5.Curriculum
• Develop of INCERTS and assessment to facilitate pupil
tracking- Incerts up and running for assessment and for report
writing. The school still currently uses tried and tested methods
for tracking pupils. This aspect will be improved and developed in
2011-12.
• Develop creative writing in English and Welsh throughout the
school- More work needed. Embedding of six units that have been
prepared by Athrawon Bro.
• Develop guided reading activities-Still a priority for
2011-12
• Develop ‘Catch Up’ reading scheme within the school- Still a
priority for 2011-12
• Addressing the Gender gap that is apparent in English-
Numerous Project X resources have already been purchased.
• Continued development of the skills/ thematic curriculum- six
units of thematic work now in place. Need to map out science and
ICT activities.

continue)- Both schools have approached Groinniagh McDonaugh to see
whether an after school club would be feasible in the village.
Further work regarding this will be done over the coming
months.
• Develop arts project with infants- this to include art work
and dance activities. 7.Resources
• Resources identified from self evaluation-done

STAFFING & PERSONNEL • Mrs Sioned Ryder appointed on
Secondment as Deputy until November 2012.
• Miss Ffion Williams was on maternity from November 2011
onwards. Mrs Karen Roberts will cover in her stead.
• Mrs Pat Griffiths and Ms Alison Crofts have been appointed as
cleansers. Mrs Juliet MacManus has started on her Midday Supervisor
post. Mrs Gweno Bond is covering the other midday post.
• Mrs Paulette Satursley will be covering maternity for Miss
Katie Edwards.
• Mrs Rees will be retiring during the summer of 2012. Miss
Kaylee Franks will fill this position from Sept 2012 on a temporary
basis.
• Mrs. Lynne Hardwidge’s decision for a reduction in hours was
adopted by the governing body.Miss Ffion Jones is now a full member
of staff.
BUILDINGS • Our existing CCTV unit was destroyed during PAT
testing. I have made an insurance claim in order to cover the
majority of the costs involved, but the school will have to pay
a £150 excess.
• Buildings-The school is set to be re-wired during the Summer.
LEA officers envisage that the work will take place during the
holidays. They are also seeking to replace the boilers within the
school but this is dependent on costings. The front of the school
will also be painted by the LEA this summer. At last it seems that
some expenditure will be taking place on our school!
• Staff room- current staff room to be moved from where it is
now to the carpet room. This would mean that the current staffroom
would be given over to being an ALN room. In addition, Paul
McClellan Construction from Bangor have kindly created a new office
area in the main corridor. They have done this completely free of
charge and I would like to thank them immensely for their
generosity. Mrs Jane Davies (a PTA member and Parent) works for
this company and they have also agreed to make some modifications
to the second staff toilet downstairs and to supply sinks for the
main staffroom and for Mrs Ryders’ room. This work has saved the
school a great deal of money.
• Painting- I have asked Billy Aughton for prices in order to
paint areas of the school ready for our next inspection. Whilst his
prices are favourable, there is a need to do the work on a
staggered basis. I envisage the need to paint the computer room as
a matter of priority.
• Pupil toilets- Bakerlite cisterns are used in the pupil
toilets and there is a need to check whether these have Asbestos in
them. Whether there is or not doesn’t necessarily mean that the
toilets will be given a refit.
• I have liaised with the LEA to see whether the hall can be
fitted with proper fire escape door. The LEA have deemed that a new
fire door is not a necessity.
• The After School Club - TY BRYN have now decided to use the
canteen and one of the classrooms for this purpose with the school
replacing some of the locks to the main school building.
SPORTS The school places a great emphasis on pupil’s mental and
physical development. There is a specific structure for the
education arrangements. All pupils from the school are given
opportunities to attend 10 swimming lessons a year, as well as
timely activites in all other aspects of PE. The school regularly
sends representative teams to Conwy County competitions. Mrs Rees

7
th. The town hall was packed out for both performances
and the overall feedback was good. One set of Grandparents did
comment that there was insufficient Welsh in the performance which
was a tad harsh. One other parent commented that perhaps the school
concert had too detrimental an effect on the learning experiences
of the children ie too much time given over to practising for the
show. -Pupils from the school continue to email our friends in St
Melaine. Pupils are currently writing about recycling within the
village and they will be sending a report over to France in the not
too distant future. -The Winter Fayre was a resounding success. We
