make it happen...

Seres is currently fundraising to cover the cost of running YOUth LEAD in Central America

$100 will support one facilitator

$1,500 will support facilitation and organization in one location

$6,000 will sponsor YOUth LEADing Central America across all three locations: Guatemala, El Salvador and Costa Rica

About the OrganizationsOzGREEN is an NGO dedicated to educating, inspiring people to become leaders of positive social change.

Seres works to help rural communities build resilience to climate change. We empower people through education, to ensure sustainable community development and address the impacts of climatic change.

Together, OzGREEN and Seres are enabling the YOUth LEAD climate congresses to reach marginalized youth across Central America, supporting young people to cross geographical borders, culture and language to dream together and create a vision of a sustainable future.

Who attends YOUth LEAD?YOUth LEAD targets young people between 15 and 25 years who show an active interest in the environment. In 2010, the large majority of participants in Central America’s first YOUth LEAD Climate Congress had never previously travelled outside their community. For the first time, these youth were connected with other concerned young people: from their own country, from neighboring countries, and from the other side of the world. It was a moving experience, and incredibly empowering for all involved.

In 2011, 6 participants selected from the 2010 El Salvador congress will participate in the Digital Media and Facilitator training held by OzGREEN in Australia. This will equip these young leaders with the tools required to facilitate the 2011 YOUth LEAD Congresses enabling Seres to host three simultaneous congresses in Central America: Guatemala, El Salvador and Costa Rica.

In 2011 congress participants will be identified through our network of NGOs, community projects and volunteer organizations who will nominate young people who demonstrate the potential to become leaders and change-makers within their communities.

As many of these young people do not have the financial means to pay to attend the congress, the c o s t o f t h e 3 - d a y residential program will be subs id i zed by Se re s . Participants will be asked to fundraise10-15% of the costs, which helps ensure that the youth attending a r e d e d i c a t e d a n d committed.
