“I have been a member of Young Israel since I came to this country in 1948. Over the years, I have held every position on the board including President, Treasurer and Gabbai. It is important that the Young Israel continues to grow and anchor our community as it has for decades.” -- Leonard Fuchs

hroughout the generations, our shul has served as the focal point of the community. It is where we gather to serve G-d in daily prayer and where we meet for

Torah study. We celebrate our Simchas there with joy and console ourselves there in times of sorrow. It is the place where we create an exciting Torah environment for our children so they will enthusiastically take their place in the never-ending chain of our people’s tradition and history.

Under the guidance and leadership of our Rav, Rabbi Naphtali Burnstein, we are a shul committed to the concept of respect for all Jews, involvement in the Greater Cleveland Jewish Community and promoting an identity that is inseparable from Torah and Medinat Yisroel.

The Irving l. Stone Synagogue Building in Beachwood is the address where the community gathers for a range of events such as the Bikur Cholim Monthly Luncheon and Pre-Pesach Holiday Fair to community wide lectures and celebrations. Numerous community organizations use the Fuchs Social Hall for their annual events. Bnei Akiva, our shul sponsored youth group, continues to thrive. Families from the area shuls choose Young Israel as their venue to celebrate their smachot.

Our goal is to create a dynamic religious center. In addition to our daily minyanim, the Stark Beit Midrash hosts our Shabbat Hashkama minyan, weekly lectures, kollel learning and Fuchs Mizrachi School Events. Our summer lectures series on current topics and our scholar in residence, Rabbi Moshe Berger, establish our shul as a uniquely positioned organization for the learning of Torah. Among the opportunities for the youth of our shul is the special Megilla reading on Purim as well as the intensive Torah Reading mentoring for the teenage boys. Our Cleveland Heights branch led by Rabbi Aharon Dovid Lebovics has been a pillar of the Cleveland Heights Community for over 70 years.

As we enter our 18th year at the Stone Synagogue, we have the opportunity to solidify our shul’s future. Through the sponsorship of a few generous donors, we have the power to do so. Won’t you join this effort? Our children and community depend upon your generous commitment. May Hashem reward us all in this endeavor with Nachat from our children and a stronger Jewish community.

Many of my earliest childhood memories are connected to Young Israel. Whether it was my dad bringing me for Simchas Torah, Yom Kippur, or even just letting me run around on a regular Shabbos, these memories are a big part of what made me what I am today and what brought me back to Cleveland.

Its amazing to see the changes that the shul has gone through since I’ve come back and it’s a real privilege to create new memories with my wife and now our son. ”

-- Moshe and Shana Edelstein

-- Marlene and Warren Sobol

Our family made its way to Cleveland in 2012. What a wonderful, vibrant Jewish community! Only one problem: we knew no one. We walked in to Young Israel and immediately found an instant extended family and tremendous Rabbi. Six years on, we still miss our community in Columbus, but we feel just as grateful to YIGC now as then. ”

No doubt Young Israel is a wonderful place of inspiration for children to grow and for families to be connected to Tefilah, Torah and Community ”
