The Blue Mountains are located west of Sydney, one hundred kilometres from Sydney.

More than three million people come to the Blue Mountains National Park each year. It is great for people to come to the Blue Mountains but they have to be careful of the environment. Sometimes people do the wrong thing like lighting fires. They leave rubbish on the ground, cut trees down and graffiti rocks.

How the park is managed
The park is managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Department in NSW which is now the NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change.
They have special park rangers to look after the native animals and care for them.
The rangers help people when their lost and bushwalking and they lead them back to safety.
The firefighters put out fires and protect our national parks.
