What do YOU do for your CLUB?YOU ALL PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR PLAYERS TO DEVELOP IN SPORT!
The Groundsmans Role• Where cricket is played on natural turf the role of a fully trained and skilled
Groundsman is essential towards producing a safe, true playing surface where all elements of the game and talents of the players are allowed to flourish.
• No Groundsman wishes to prepare a bad pitch – outside influences usually conspire against his/her wishes.
• Whilst many are renowned for being “protective” of their manicured turf, a true cricket Groundsman knows he/she is there to produce a “stage” for players to perform on.
• The Groundsman is as important as the best player as neither can perform to their uppermost abilities without the other.
• The groundsman can be the “4” umpire in the official’s team as his/her judgement and local knowledge can be essential in bringing back the optimum playing conditions of the surface in inclement weather.
