Yammer, as the name implies is a private social network that helps employees collaborate across
departments, locations and even business apps. Similar to your company’s private social network like your
Facebook and Twitter handle, yammer helps you and your team stay on top of it all in terms of using social
engineering concept and business ethical values. The solution aids team members to collaborate on files,
and organize company projects so that work can be done faster and in a more efficient way.

• Yammer is used for private communication within organizations and is an example of
enterprise social software.
• The tool was originally developed as an internal communication system for the
genealogy website Geni.
• Access to a Yammer network is determined by a user's Internet domain so that only
individuals with appropriate email addresses may join their respective networks.
Before we move further I will like to look at the factors of efficient and effective communication
in any team build and take a look at the way a good team works.
Let’s look at what a communication equation usually looks like:
From the picture above we can clearly see that for good team building, communication is a key
factor and each of human sense has a role to play;
The Ear attributes to 40% of the interpretation of message you get or communicate
among team members, so that your voice perception, the vocal clarity and verbal
expressions determine what message you pass to your follow team member.
The Eye attributes to 50% of the communication among team member resulting to your
ability to understand the facial expression, dress and grooming, posture, eye contact,
touch and gesture also influences the message and articulates the reason behind the
message.
Words only attribute to 10% of communication between team members.
Microsoft’s vision of building a solution to enhance good team collaboration engineered a
solution that can help to combine the characters necessary for good team work and introduced
Yammer.
In business environments, solutions like Facebook and Twitter had similar potential but it is
bounded by the need to electrify socialism and bring people of various races in one common
front through pictures and information.
Although, in recent times, these tools have been used for Marketing and business branding but
the collaboration in any business environment is still far from achievable.
Furthermore I want to talk about teamwork because it a basic tool in every collaboration
process.
What is Teamwork? Andrew Carnegie defines as follows:
"Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision.
The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives
It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.”
Based on this definition, it can be inferred that to have a team is to bring more than 2 people
together.
Yammer brings teams together and increases effectiveness, brings people together and
improves efficiency.

Yammer helps teams to collaborate by connecting, collaborating and delivering high
performance teamwork, then it engages by attracting and retaining employees’ connection
within and outside the office environment and finally it innovates by facilitating idea sharing and
