Hytera’sXPT(ExtendedPseudoTrunking)isadigitaltrunkingsystemthatdeliversupto16timesthecapacityofanalogconventionalmobileradiosystems;amorecost-effectivesolutionthatallowscustomerstoincreasecapacitywithoutusingadedicatedcontrolchannel.ThesystemcaneasilymigratefromTier-IIDMRbyapplyinganupgradelicensetotheRD982Srepeatersandconnectingthemviaalayer-2switch.

Overview

XPT(ExtendedPseudoTrunk)isascalabledigitaltrunkingsolutionthatallowsyoutoincreasethecapacityofanexistingconventionalDMRsystembysimplyupgradingthecurrentRD982SrepeaterandDMRradios.XPTconnectsalargernumberofuserswithvoiceanddataturningyourconventionalDMRSystemintoavirtualtrunkingsystem.XPTwillnowallowmultipleusersfromvariousdepartmentsfasteraccesstothesystem,thiscanincreasesproductivity,enhancecustomerserviceandprovidesbetterdispatchingtosecuritypersonnelrespondingtoemergencies.

XPTAllowstheradiotoscantimeslotsontherepeateranddynamicallychooseanopentimeslottoinitiateacall.Lesswaittimeisusedthanthosewhoarefixedtoaspecifictimeslot.Intypicalsystemsitisnotuncommonforrepeaterstobebusywhileothersremainunused,thisiswhereXPTDigitalTrunkingcomesintoaction.TheXPTsystembroadcaststheavailabilityofchannelsthroughouteveryrepeaterensuringtheuserwillhaveaguaranteedchanneltoinitiateacall.

WithintheXPTsystem,groupsofradioswillbeallocatedtoa“homerepeater”.Whenthehomerepeaterisidleallcallswillbemadethroughthisrepeater.WhenthehomerepeaterisbusytheXPTsystemwillautomaticallyanddynamicallyassigna“freerepeater”,whichtemporarilyprovidesavailablechannelstoinitiateacall.Oncethehomerepeaterhasanavailableresourcethegroupsofradioswillswitchbacktoit.Thisprocessisrepeatedonthesystemtoensureinstantcommunicationswithnointerruptionsorconstantbusysignals,nodesignatedcontrolchannelisneededinthisprocess.Thesameprocessworkswithgrouporallcalls,allradiosaremovetoasinglerepeater,freeinguptheotherrepeatersforuse,eveniftheradiosonthecallareassignedtootherrepeaters.
