Humble thyself in the sight of the Lord

And He shall lift you up.
"He Has Made Me Glad”
#2270 black hymnal
I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart
I will enter His courts with praise
I will say this is the day that the
Lord has madeI will rejoice for he has
made me glad.
He has made me glad.He has made me glad
I will rejoice for He has made me glad.

Opening Song“Let My People Seek
Their Freedom”#586 red hymnal
“Let my people seek their freedom
in the wilderness awhile, from the slave pens of the
Delta,from the ghettos on the
Nile”:
So God spoke from out of Sinai,
so God spoke and it was done,
and a people crossed the waters
toward the rising of the sun.
“Let my people seek their freedom
in the wilderness awhile, from the aging shrines and
structures,from the cloister and the
aisle”:
so the Son of God has spoken,
and the storm clouds are unfurled,
for God’s people must be scattered
to be servants in the world.
When we murmur on the mountains
for the old Egyptian plains, when we miss our ancient
bondage,and the hope, the promise,
wanes;
then the rock shall yield its water
and the manna fall by night,
and with visions of a futureshall we march toward the
light.
In the maelstrom of the nations,
in the journeying into space,
in the clash of generations,in the hungering for grace,
in the agony and glory,we are called to newer
waysby the Lord of our
tomorrowsand the God of earth’s
todays.

Call to Prayer“By the Babylonian
River”#2217 black hymnal
By the Babylonian riverswe sat down in grief and
wept;hung our harps upon a willow, mourned for Zion
when we slept.
There our captors, in derisiondid require of us a
song;so we sat with staring visionand the days
were hard and long.
How shall we sing the Lord's songin a strange and bitter land; Can our voices veil the sorrow?Lord God help your holy
band.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name.Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the
glory, forever. Amen.
Anthem “Go Down
Moses”
#448 red hymnal
When Israel was in Egypt´s Land:
let my people go;oppressed so hard they
could not stand, let my people go.
Go down, Moses, way down in Egypt´s land;tell old Pharaoh to let my
people go!
Thus saith the Lord," bold Moses said,
let my people go;"If not, I´ll smite your
firstborn dead,"let my people go.
Go down, Moses, way down in Egypt´s land;tell old Pharaoh to let my
people go!
No more shall they in bondage toil,
let my people go;let them come out with
Egypt's spoil,let my people go.
Go down, Moses, way down in Egypt´s land;tell old Pharaoh to let my
people go!
We need not always weep and mourn,
let my people go;and wear those slavery
chains forlorn,let my people go.
Go down, Moses, way down in Egypt´s land;tell old Pharaoh to let my
people go!
Come, Moses, you will not get lost,
let my people go;stretch out your rod and
come across,let my people go.
Go down, Moses, way down in Egypt´s land;tell old Pharaoh to let my
people go!
As Israel stood by the water's side,
let my people go;at God's command it did
divide,Let my people go.
Go down, Moses, way down in Egypt´s land;tell old Pharaoh to let my
people go!
When they had reached the other shore,
let my people go;they sang a song of triumph
o'er,let my people go.
Go down, Moses, way down in Egypt´s land;tell old Pharaoh to let my
people go!
O Moses, the cloud shall cleave the way,
let my people go;a fire by night, a shade by
day,let my people go.
Go down, Moses, way down in Egypt´s land;tell old Pharaoh to let my
people go!
Your foes shall not before you stand,
let my people go;and you'll possess fair
Canaan's land,let my people go.
Go down, Moses, way down in Egypt´s land;tell old Pharaoh to let my
people go!
This world's a wilderness of woe,
let my people go;O let us on to Canaan go,
let my people go.
Go down, Moses, way down in Egypt´s land;tell old Pharaoh to let my
people go!
O let us all from bondage flee,
let my people go;and let us all in Christ be
free,let my people go.
Go down, Moses, way down in Egypt´s land;tell old Pharaoh to let my
people go!
Scripture Reading
Exodus 3:7-15 (NIV) 7 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of
the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 9 And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians
are oppressing them.10 So now, go.I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”12 And God said, “I will be with you.
And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.”13 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,
and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”15 God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham,
the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ “This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation.
Luke 4:14-22 (NIV) Jesus Rejected at Nazareth14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. 15 He was teaching in their synagogues,
and everyone praised him.16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read,17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”20 Then he rolled up the scroll,
gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them,“Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”22 All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came
from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.
