• Since 1903, the World Series has determined baseball’s champion.

• The National League champion plays the American League champion in the World Series.

• A baseball stadium has a dugout for each of the team’s players and coaches.

• MLB has rules that all of its teams, coaches and players must follow.

• The 30 MLB teams come from cities across the United States, and one city in Canada.

• Earlier, the team with the most wins in each league was league champion.

• Fans and players wanted to know which champion was the best. The World Series gave them the answer.

• Only America had baseball teams then, so the World Series winner really was the best in the world.

• Today other countries play baseball too, like Canada, Japan and Mexico.
