WOOD POLISH FRENCH POLISH Traditional French polishes are used to obtain an impressive deep gloss and smooth finish on good quality furniture. The SHEENLAC polishes are to the same meticulous time proven method that has been used for centuries. French polish produces a warm, dark transparent coating which cannot be reproduced by modern synthetic lacquers. These products are made from pure natural Shellac to give good clarity, build and ease of application. Traditional French polishes are used to obtain an impressive deep gloss and smooth finish

on good quality furniture. The SHEENLAC polishes are to the same meticulous time proven

method that has been used for centuries. French polish produces a warm, dark transparent

coating which cannot be reproduced by modern synthetic lacquers. These products are

made from pure natural Shellac to give good clarity, build and ease of application.

TECHNICAL DATA

SURFACE PREPARATION: All wood surfaces must be clean,

firm and dry. Remove any oil, grease, mortar droppings, etc.

NEW WOOD: Sand in the direction of the grain, to a smooth

finish with 150 followed by 220 grit paper. Remove dust with a

damp cloth.

PREVIOUSLY VARNISHED WOOD IN GOOD

CONDITION: Sand to obtain a smooth surface using 150 grit

emery paper. Remove all sanding dust using a vacuum or cloth

dampened with mineral spirits.

PREVIOUSLY VARNISHED WOOD IN POOR

CONDITION: Strip completely by deep sanding or by using

Sheenlac Paint Remover. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Deep sand to until there is no evidence of any residue. Remove

dust with a damp cloth.

WOOD PREVIOUSLY COATED WITH WAX

SEALER/OIL BASED WOOD PRESERVATIVE:

Mechanically sand until there is no evidence of residue.

Remove dust with a damp cloth.

PREVIOUSLY PAINTED WOOD: Strip old paint by deep

sanding or by using Sheenlac Paint Remover. Rinse thoroughly

with clean water. Sand bare wood to a smooth finish. Remove

dust with a damp cloth.

FILLER: If required use Sheenlac NC or Oil based Wood filler.

Allow to dry for 24 h and remove the excess using 220 grit

Emery paper and wipe with dry cloth.

STAIN THE WOOD: Adding stain to bare or stripped wood

can both change the color and highlight the grain pattern of

any interior wood but this is an optional. Apply Sheenlac SB

Wood stains by rubbing or brushing against the direction of the

grain will help fill deep pores with stain. Apply a liberal amount

of stain, giving the wood an ample amount to absorb. Allow to

dry for 30-60 mins.

HEALTH & SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:

Ÿ Always keep paint out of reach of children.

Ÿ Ensure good ventilation during application and drying.

Ÿ If accidental contact with skin should occur, wash immediately with soap and water.

Ÿ Take care to avoid contact with the eyes. In case of contact, immediately rinse the eyes with plenty of water and seek medical attention.

Ÿ Harmful if swallowed. Seek medical attention and do not induce vomiting.

Ÿ Do not smoke while painting.

Ÿ Flammable. Store in a cool dry place away from heat and sparks.

Application Method:

Ÿ Wrap a piece of cotton wool inside a lint free rag to form

a pad or ‘Rubber’.

Ÿ Wearing suitable gloves, pour SHEENLAC French Polish

onto the cotton wool then squeeze the Rubber to release

any excess.

Ÿ Work the polish into the surface using a figure of eight

motion.

Ÿ Apply several coats until the required finish is achieved,

allowing 15-20 minutes between coats.

Clean up: Cloths and soiled rags may self-ignite without warning. Wash out well in warm soapy water before disposal. Remove as much product as possible from application equipment prior to cleaning.
